Help on Double beaming a missile
shackman replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well I finally talked to a master about the notch gate, and that was my dad. he is a former submariner and says the Mk 48 torpedo uses the same type of scan, using the doppler effect to track targets. It can't track anything going left to right. Now I don't know if this is true to LO but the notch gate doesn't have anything to do with speed. It only has to deal with position. get the guy on your 3/9 and KEEP HIM THERE! So if you 2 are flying perpendicular then you need to continuously turn so he stays either at your 3/9. Cause if he slips to your 8/2 he can pick you up. But since you are making a turn keeping him on your 3/9 soon you'll come around so much that you might be in firing position. That sound about right? -
Thanks good to hear.

Help on Double beaming a missile
shackman replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yeah I misunderstood you earlier 144 is the closure not airspeed. So it mainly is used as a defensive maneuver once you have a missile or 2 inbound towards him you leave and see if they do their job. -
Sure, my dad is a former US Navy sub officer so he told me many things about them. And most if not all countries who have subs in their navy are equipped with an emergency blow valve. What that does is if you are submerged and have a major problem, flooding fire, engine failure, etc. you pull that valve, and it blows high pressure air into the ballast tanks and cause the sub to rise at a very rapid rate. I don't know the details of how fast but probably 5ft every 5-10seconds or so. Just a guess on that though. But an emergency blow is how subs get to the surface fast. I know Russian Kilos are equipped with that, I don't know what India may have done to them but I'm sure they kept it.

Help on Double beaming a missile
shackman replied to shackman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ok I didn't hear it was the difference sorry 'bout that. When you say when you have him on a 3 or 9 position and the speed is 0, thats because you are going your airspeed and subtracting his and keeping the closure around 144km/h. Is there an indicator of the closure speed in the cockpit:huh: -

Oh I misunderstood GGTharos there, you mean don't add 144km/h to your airspeed but that is your airspeed. Oh ok sorry. I just tried going 144km/h, but crashed. What would that airspeed be in imperial units, or is that imperial? But as GGTharos said at that speed you will have hardly any energy to pull a turn to start the engagement. Is this mainly a defensive maneuver since you aren't attacking him, or when should you stop and turn back into him so that you can lock him up and attack? -

Thanks Funkster, I understand how to move so that your speed matches the grounds speed, so you both become 1 in a radar picture. But is there a way to tell how fast or slow to go? -

But how exactly can you tell the closure speed of the ground to know what airspeed range to stay at? -
Is it true that FC 2 has 91 SP missions alone? If so how are they separated, by plane such as 11 for one type and 11 for another or what exactly?

What would roughly be the speed for an F-15 or Mig 29 to enter the notch gate? -

Here is a track file of what i mean of having to double beam a missile, i just beamed one but then the Flanker shot another, so how do you avoid that? example of my problem.trk -
If you buy the DVD boxed ver. of FC 2, do you need to download the patch or is that already on the disc? And I was reading a forum saying that when 1 person installed their ver. of FC 2 they couldn't launch weapons, but after an uninstall and reinstall it worked. Is that need for all copies?

Does it have any problems with Vista? Or have the crashes been fixed in FC 2?

Well said Pizzicato, flight sims were popular back in the day of Jane's Combat Simulations but with their demise flight sims are nothing. Now it's all who let me kill those alien creatures who look like humans, Resident Evil 5? Or we have to go into Russia to capture an informant Soap will be leading, MW 2. People are just now playing nothing but RPG, 1st or 3rd person shooters, child's games, etc. I hope with HAWX 2 coming out, i didn't like HAWX 1 with the string of rings to fly through, that flight sims will rise up again. And with Eagle Studios gone at Microsoft, but Cascade Game Foundry, which is a group of former Eagle Studios employees I hope they'll make great flight sims to come.:(

Thanks Castle, but I knew about the site, i'm just surprised that there is only 1 full review, and not any others.

Is simhq.com the only site that reviewed FC 2? Most just say a new update is coming this march. And haven't been updated since April. Just like to see if i could find another review just to read.

Well I have decided to go ahead and learn to use it on a program that it will be useful for, and thats FC 2, instead of FSX. But the problem is the settings I'm still confused aboutt hem. i was talking with bengo and he said to adjust the curves not the speed or smooth. But I don't quite get the idea of the curves. I mean it is a little fast but I believe that with practice through FC 2 I'll get better. I'm just trying to get the settings so the view changes quickly but stays steady. Any suggestions, such as what to set them to? Any help would be greatly appreciated:thumbup: And in FC 2 are the external views controlled by TIR like in FSX, I hope not that was really weird how if you looked left the view externally in FSX would move.:helpsmilie:

To me it seems more organized. Have Missions on top then Bugs then older ver. and then gen discussion. I like it ;)
-
Well I would like to try to use it, but the version of LO that I have now 1.0 won't recognize it. So i'll have to wait for FC 2, and then try it there. Cause I'm not going to test it out on FSX, AGAIN:doh:. And the 1 problem is the monitor is big in the back that when I set the sensor up on the stand it faces down, and doesn't register the Track IR clip. IF you could think of a better way to hold the camera up then that'd help. Facing down doesn't.:helpsmilie: I'm using TIR 5, but the main problem is the camera
