Apologies for that, I had misunderstood how that worked. Thanks for sorting that out, I'll know what to link next time
-
Glad the install is sorted, hopefully that was the hard part

You appear to be using the old version of Vaicom Pro. It is now maintained by the community, and the new version is necessary for OpenBeta from 2.8 onwards. You can download it from here.
-
Are you using Release or OpenBeta version of DCS? Also, please post your Vaicom Pro log (default location C:\Program Files\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOMPRO\Logs)
-
If you're still following this topic, this shortcut shows your keyboard shortcuts are disabled. Click on the keyboard icon (3rd from the top on the right, currently with the red circle with the line) and that should enable them.

Hi all, just a reminder, the "Help" channel on the Vaicom official Discord here offers assistance delivered in real time by the people who maintain Vaicom Pro now. If you have a persistent problem and you're out of airspeed and ideas, that is probably the best way to find a solution. A Discord account is required (available via free registration).
-
Ok thanks. If no log file is generating I believe there is a deeper problem. I’m afraid this is beyond me, I suggest you speak to the Discord support here, I’m sure they’ll be able to figure this out. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.
-
On further checking, it looks likely that Nahimic is interfering with keybinds like those for the Vaicom config. I suggest you try uninstalling Nahimic and see if that works. Edit: I’m told this can be caused by having more than one version of the vaicom.dll file (even if it’s renamed) in your vaicom directory, it might be worth checking that to make sure.

No probs, hope you had/have a great day The log will be instructive for us, even if it doesn't show any errors. If you'd rather not post it in the open forum, feel free to DM it to me. Also, are you running the OpenBeta version of DCS?
-
Ok thanks. Could you please post your Vaicom Pro log (default location would be C:\Program Files\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOMPRO\Logs)? What version of DCS are you running (version number, Steam or Standalone, Release or OpenBeta)? Also, I see that a potential conflict with Nahimic is mentioned, does the problem persist when Nahimic isn't running? I'll probably have to check with someone from the Discord and I have some stuff on today myself, so it might take some time for me to reply, it will definitely be today though. If you'd rather, you could ask on the Discord yourself (https://discord.com/channels/736032844274728961/736033275423752243), you may get a quicker response that way (cutting out the middleman, so to speak)...

Happy Christmas to you too Apologies, I'm struggling to understand. Could you please post a screenshot showing the command list that comes up when you click on "Edit Profile"?
-
Ok, so you're having the same problem as the OP? With "Vaicom Pro for DCS World" selected as the profile, when you click "Edit Profile" (the pencil and paper icon next to the 'Profile' drop down box), have you got the shortcut (Left Ctrl + Left Alt + C) against "Configuration (voice disabled)" in the command list? If in doubt please see the screenshot in my earlier post.

Yeah, k two things here that may not be good news. Just before you came back and said things were working, I was told 2.8 wasn’t compatible with 2.7. When you came back and said it was working I figured there was no point asking you to switch back to the old version and troubleshoot that. The guys on discord are better positioned than me to help. Out of curiosity, what makes you think it’s Vaicom causing DCS to crash? My understanding of the way Vaicom interacts with DCS doesn’t suggest it could cause a crash, but again, I could be wrong and the guys on discord are better able to help, if the problem is Vaicom-related they’ll find it.
-
Oh awesome, glad to hear it. Happy holidays to you too and happy flying!
-
Ok, so I guess that didn’t actually work. After speaking with guys smarter on this than myself on discord, they’ve suggested they could best help if you spoke to them directly. Would you be ok visiting them here for further support?
-
Ok great, thanks for all that. Question for when you get 2.8 up and running as it was: When you’re running DCS, is the module indicates on the plugin PTT page?
-
Ok, so we're getting somewhere. Vaicom Pro 2.8 is the current version and, when we have it set up right, it will work with DCS 2.7, so I suggest we should work on getting that working. A few more questions... Did you install Vaicom Pro 2.8 from the GitHub page? If so, did you install from the .MSI, or from the zip?On the 'Config' page, are the sliders set correctly re Release/OpenBeta and Standalone/Steam? Is your install in the default location (eg C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World for the release/standalone version)? If not, do you have the custom install path selected on the 'Config' page? Please see the attached screenshot for examples of settings on the 'Config' page - mine are set for the OpenBeta/Standalone version.

Ok, if I understand correctly, VA is acknowledging TX presses, but it seems like Vaicom isn't. When you're looking at the plugin PTT page and you hit a TX key, does the TX channel illuminate? It's not that easy to see, but it should look like TX5 in the attached image. Also, just to eliminate this as as a possible issue, is the correct microphone selected as the input device both in VA and in Windows? I've had Windows switch input devices on me randomly in the past...

Click on the 'edit' button (pencil and paper beside profile drop-down box), and set the shortcut for 'Configuration (voice disabled)' per the highlighted command as in this screenshot:

True, I misspoke. I probably should have said something like "this is the closest thing we've had to confirmation". Given that the presale window alone would take us into '23 even if they announced it tomorrow, I think WinterH might have a point
-
I have to admit that I’m a little disappointed that we only get confirmation of this delay thanks to @Czechnology’s efforts. After @Cobra847 had said they were still hoping to get the F-4 out by the end of this year, an official announcement once they knew they’d miss the timeline would have been nice. Anyhow, let’s look forward to Phantom Twenty Phree.

Hi all, I hope you might be able to suggest some texts on planning tactical air ops at the operational level. I’ve found some good ones on the strategic level (so talking in terms of identifying centres of gravity, relative strengths of offence vs defence, different options and relevant costs for attriting enemy air power etc), but I’d like suggestions of tests that deal more on the level of planning various types of strike or SEAD missions, structuring counter air missions and that kinda thing. Maybe something that approximates a ‘playbook’ for planning air ops. Alternatively, if anyone knows of accounts of modern (say, in the last half century) air battles that provide detail on that kind of granular, operational level I’d appreciate it if you could share the names. Thanks for reading.

The shift to community maintenance (and the provision of appropriate licensing) is finalised and there is a settled team working on it. Regarding updates, those big brains maintaining Vaicom Pro have mentioned they hope to re-enable the update function within the app, but in the meantime any updates posted on the GitHub page are official and can be installed without concern. Does that address your concerns re things being worked out? If not, please do explain either here or on the Discord, and no doubt someone from the team will be able to address them.

Isn't there usually a month of presale, with expected EA starting date given as a season rather than a date nowadays? I think I remember arguments about whether the season quoted for F-14 release should be read as meteorological or astronomical... Admittedly, the last module I bought was the 'Cat, and I haven't really paid attention to the EA process for the modules that have come since. How long was presale and how was the expected start of EA described when presale started for the F1, AH-64 or MI-24? FTR I'd love a Phestive season Phantom too
