  1. Thanks once again theOden. Given the cautions about the "J" capacity in the AJS being exaggerated I'd all but dismissed the fighter functions, thanks for explaining that they do still have real-world relevance.
  2. Sorry to post another one of these. **SPOILER ALERT** The last mission of the mini-campaign, Hugin and Munin soaring, requires the player to intercept incoming bombers. I've carefully used the AWACS BRAA calls while in IR-RB mode with my radar in A0 with the dish angled upwards. I have some questions: 1. Am I correct in taking the AWACS calls as being in metres? The higher target's altitude is given as "21 000" and the lower as low as "13 000". The Viggen's service sealing is 20 000 m, so climbing to co-altitude with the higher target would exceed that if the calls are in meters. 13 000 m can be done, but it's still one hell of a climb. I did get up to about 12 000 m (I think) and was visually scanning the area directly in front and above me but I couldn't see any trace of the target. 2. Does selecting weapon mode "IR-RB" put the radar into a2a mode? I've been selecting IR-RB in the belief that doing so will activate air-to-air mode and angling the dish upwards, hoping to detect these targets above me, but it looks like the radar stops scanning. Any ideas what is happening and how I can keep the radar scanning? 3. Why are AJS-37 Viggens drawing interceptor duty anyway? Up until now I have enjoyed other missions in the mini-campaign challenging the limits of my knowledge, but those were all within the bounds of the airframe's intended use. Were AJS ever actually used as interceptors? Are the AJS air-to-air capabilities sufficient for anything beyond self-defence? If anyone can answer these questions or suggest easy ways to complete this mission I'm all eyes.
  3. The G-limit for the Viggen is 6G peacetime / 7G overall, and it's easy to hit that when you accelerate at afterburner 2 into a weapon release, hit afterburner 3 and evade. I had a few mid-air explosions for reasons I couldn't figure out until I started watching the accelerometer and was ready to relax my turn if I approached the G-limit or a blackout began.
  4. Thanks for posting that information. When I “fresh start”ed my PC a couple of weeks ago I had some issues that appeared to be traces of settings, drivers and services that had somehow made it into the new install. Since the reset, is everything else working as it should? My suspicion is that we may wind up having to remove all traces of DCS from your system and reinstall again from scratch but I’ll need to find a guide to how to do that properly. Before we try that, could you please try the following: 1) Start DCS as normal, select “Instant Action” as usual, select the Su-25T as the aircraft and see if the game behaves differently. 2) Restart your PC. After entering Windows, disconnect your PC from your internet connection (remove the Ethernet cable and/or turn off your wifi) and then start the game. Once again, go to “Instant Action”, select the Su-25T and see what happens.
  5. I'm sorry to see no one offered any help when you posted in the "Game Crashes" forum. FTR your DCS.log will be in C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\DCS\Logs. I really don't know this side of things but I'll try to help rather than leaving you with silence. My questions so far: Since resetting: 1. How stable is your internet connection? 2. When you enter DCS, can you tell if you are logged in? 3. Has DCS requested activation keys for all of your modules?
  6. I believe theOden nailed it, I was wondering why I didn't have this issue last time I went through this mini-campaign, but I believe last time through I sank the Ivanov first time. Many thanks. Thanks for the information Zabuza. Fingers crossed the campaign comes out along with or just after 2.5 stable. Much appreciated.
  7. I'm at a loss about how to successfully complete the "Hammer of Thor" mission in the mini-campaign. In one attempt I destroyed at least container, killed four personnel and damaged the Ivanov. I subsequently landed, taxied to the parking area, completed the landing checklist and ended the mission after shutting the engine down and the same thing happened.. I went back in to the campaign to take a look at what my next mission will be, only to find that it took me back to "Hammer of Thor". In my most recent attempt I destroyed at least 1 container, 4 personnel, killed at least 4 soldiers and damaged the Ivanov. I successfully landed, taxied to the parking area, completed the landing checklist and ended the mission after shutting the engine down, and once again went back into the campaign to see the next mission, and once again it took me to the "Hammer of Thor" mission. Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong? I didn't think to save either briefing because I'd thought I'd been successful. Also, does anyone know how long after the 2.5 Stable release the mini NTTR DACT campaign or the Caucasus main campaign will become available? Are they ready to go or do HB need to wait until after stable releases to do some of the work?
  8. If you think your system can deal with the memory leak and other issues and you have space for a second DCS install I’d suggest installing the beta if you don’t want to wait. My system (specs in my sig) is running it well and I can only remember one crash. As far as I’m aware the last official word on timeframe was that they felt committing to a timeframe for a bug-free release of 2.5 stable wasn’t possible yet. I suggest you watch the weekend news emails for updates.
  9. My belief is that the sale occurs in the buyer's locale. I'm no expert, but I think that the sale takes place in the buyers' location, as I believe the sale is subject to taxation and consumer law in the buyers' jurisdiction. If that is the case, I would guess it is because the sale is only complete and valid at the point the buyer is given the product, regardless of freighting issues. If the money reaches the merchant but the product is unavailable there is no sale, nor is taxation, warranty etc. applied, so I don't think that is the point where the sale takes place. That said, if anyone else is sure of their answer please take that over mine.
  10. Thanks to you all. For some weird reason the copy/paste procedure didn't restore my campaign save the first time I tried it, but it did work this time, so I know it will in the future. Always pleasantly surprised at how wiling this community is to help. o7
  11. Great, that sounds spot on, fingers crossed that works for you :)
  12. Awesome, many thanks :)
  13. I'm likely to do a PC rebuild shortly, and that probably means I'll need to reinstall DCS. I'd like to keep my progress from the Viggen Caucasus mini-campaign. Is there a way I can copy my campaign progress and paste it into the new install?
  14. Whichever branch you update to 2.5 Release will keep its controller settings. If you would like to replace OB when 2.5 release becomes available and you want the OB controller settings from OB in 2.5, you can use the command line to update your OB to Release by following Skatezilla's guide here. Alternatively you can copy your OB controller settings to the release version. To do this: 1. Update to 2.5 Release (when available) 2. Go to C:/Users/Yourusername/Saved games/DCS.openbeta/Config/Input (replacing "Yourusername" with your actual username) 3. Go to C:/Users/Yourusername/Saved games/DCS/Config/Input (replacing "Yourusername" with your actual username) 4. Paste the copied folders
  15. The guide wouldn't have worked for 2.2 because there is no 2.2 open beta. If you install 2.5 OB, it should take what it needs from 2.2. The way to be sure is to make sure the registry entry here is correct. Alternatively, just check the size of the download when the OB starts downloading. If you have NTTR and your modules installed in your 2.2 installation, the 2.5 OB should be less than 40 GB. If it is more than that, cancel the download and go back and check the registry entries.
  16. I just remembered that Gridley had mentioned the A-10C as one of the a/c he owned, so I used that as an example. I don't know what's going on with exporting and importing profiles in 2.5, so I'm afraid I can't help you import your Viggen profile. Fingers crossed someone else can be more helpful to you. Good luck.
  17. I did see that you said you had no previous modules installed, but I asked because NTTR on its own is more than 33 GB, so I guess there was a lot more downloaded through module manager on top of that 25 GB.
  18. Do you own NTTR?
  19. 1. In 2.5 OB, go to options and select the "controls" tab. Select the A-10C (Dhorse, if you don't own A-10C just pick one of the a/c you do own) and make one change to the stock controls. 2. Go to C:/Users/Yourusername/Saved games/DCS.openalpha/Config/Input (replacing "Yourusername" with your actual username) 3. Copy all the folders 4. Go to C:/Users/Yourusername/Saved games/DCS.openbeta/Config/Input (replacing "Yourusername" with your actual username) 5. Paste the copied folders You should then have your old profiles back.
  20. I'll just point out that I'm not ED, I'm just another user. But... If you'd rather not install the open beta for any reason, don't! ED make the beta builds available primarily so that people who want advance access to new DCS World or module builds can have it. Like any testing, the more testing happens the better, but ED have plenty of people available to do more than adequate closed beta testing without making open beta builds available to the user base at large. So no, there is no conspiracy to coerce more people into beta testing. Nor do they mind people waiting to install 2.5 until the stable build is available. Do what you feel comfortable with, and no more.
  21. 1. Cobra answered a similar question in this thread, see post 8. To summarize, Heatblur had to use a workaround in order to apply their own logic to the guidance of their anti ship missiles, and that guidance is lost when the Viggen dies. The loss of guidance makes the missile explode. I haven't used RR bombing myself so I can't help much, taking a position fix (if you haven't already tried that) might eliminate the navigation system error, but aside from that I can't be much help.
  22. Thanks so much, that’s exactly what I wanted to know, and it’s great to have the information to work it out for myself next time :book:
  23. Thanks SkateZilla, I guess there is no chance of getting a single year? EDIT: Never mind, got it sorted, thanks for the input :)
  24. Thank you both :) AKarhu. I expect that you're right about the build number not being entirely representative. I am just hoping I might be able to use that to identify the year of the a/c being simulated.
  25. I know I’ve come across the build number for the Hornet we’re getting, but I just can’t find it. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Also, I’ve seen our hornet described as “mid 2000’s” in several places, do we know the actual year of completion or is that not being shared?
