Thank you all for replying. Nice to know I'm not the only one having issues with this, I'll probably give the Warthog a break for a while, and when I come back I will try a different altitude, thanks for the suggestion :)

Have you been able to take off successfully in the first campaign mission (The Hunt for Ivan)? When I first attempted the mission I took off ok, but every time since (10+ attempts) I get elevon failure, sometimes coupled with massive system failure, or the plane nosedives as soon as afterburner stage 3 is disengaged. I've tried keeping afterburner 3 on for varying lengths of time and I've tried many different stick positions between neutral and all the way back but none of them keep the plane from diving for the ground. I have confirmed in different modules and games that my HOTAS is working properly. I also found that in several of the single missions I needed to delete one waypoint or else the waypoint wouldn't cycle to the correct landing airfield. Are you having these problems?

In the tutorial "Takeoff and Basic Handling", the instructions cease after the instructor says to level out at 12000 feet. I've tried climbing to 15000 ft, descending to 5000 ft and a lot of different speeds. The only time he has responded was to tell me to recover speed when it got way above 300 knots, but even then he said nothing more. Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea how I can fix it? Thanks in advance

I'm working off memories of explanations people gave me and I'm no expert so I don't know how accurate this is, but when I was trying to apply the Shkval in the Su-25T, I remember people talking about that sensor being contrast dependent, and people mentioned their frustration at having locked onto trees or rocks as a result, and I think I remember locking on to a boulder or something myself too, so maybe DCS already contains an algorithm for a contrast dependent lock?

Wow, that's interesting to know. I guess the Shkval system wasn't an option... :P

Thanks QuiGon, as you figured out I did mix those up. Clearly The Force is strong with you - apologies, I’ve wanted an excuse to say that since I first saw your username

Thanks. I didn’t understand why Mavericks were a big deal before but now I’m starting to get it. Clearly they are a very versatile weapon.

When I read the instructions in the manual I thought it might need a lock to fire. So in real life you can’t just boresight it at a point on the ground?
-
Well when you put it like that it makes sense! Ta :)

It seems like the Rb 75 Maverick is superior to the Rb 05 in accuracy, range, targeting (because I suck at guiding the Rb 05) and mounting options. Does the Rb-05 have any advantages over the Rb 75? In a situation like this, would each pilot choose his own loadout, or would it be acceptable for him to modify that given to him, or is that the decision of someone on a higher pay grade?

Thanks for posting that Javelina1, at least we know now and Wags has communicated the change directly.

SkateZilla’s answer tells us the expected timeframe Wags mentioned hasn’t changed, that’s enough for me.

+1 When we’re told “weeks” and then “months”, the latter looks like a revision of the former.

In the "Moscow Takedown" mission, when I fly to L1 as indicated it seems to lead me to a hostile airfield. Is that the case or am I missing something? In "Hunting the Hunters" L1 just seems to lead to a place in the sea. Can someone please help me work out what's going on? I have done each mission multiple times and had the described experience every time, whether I wait for the waypoint to cycle to L1 normally or I manually select it. I'm afraid my tracks turn out broken so I can't provide those, and my "up" bandwidth is pathetic, so uploading the recording isn't possible either.

I'll post this link "https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=197414" here as I hope it's a good summary of who said what, including a reply by SiThSpAwN. Please note the hyperlink in the OP that brings up the fb post.

IDing Hostiles with PS-37/A Radar and App-27 RWR

Do you use the original loadout for this mission? Are you generally pretty successful at avoiding SAMs? -

Ta :) If the RWR doesn’t tell me the SAM trails will. -
I know ED don't want to get into an ongoing habit of updating us directly with every little change of plan, but since Wags directly said "We plan to release DCS World 2.5 in the coming weeks!" in his letter to the community, it would be nice to know whether ED was actually indicating a change of plan when they said here "Sometime prior to less than two months from now. We still need some work on the seasonal textures and there are still a lot of missions and campaigns to update to account for map changes." I think the community understands that sometimes plans have to change, but it's unfortunate that we're already trying to reconcile disparate sources again. An official word can put that to rest here.

I'm 38. First real-world flight sim was probably MSFS, but the first I played obsessively was the original Elite, I think I played both of those in the 80s. I remember seeing the box for Blue Thunder at my cousin's house, but I don't remember when that was and if I ever got to play it.

Ok, so nailing my own sub in "Hunting the Hunters" has got a bit old, especially because I need both RB 04Es to sink the Russian frigate. The Viggen's PS-37/A radar doesn't identify friend from foe, and my flight seem to call "mudspike" on the friendly sub as well as the hostile frigate. I can't visually tell sub from frigate from any useful range, so the only tool I can think of to ID the hostile is the radar warning I get from the App-27 RWR. That leaves me with two questions: 1) What is the range of the RWR? and 2) If I'm in range to receive a radar warning, wouldn't the same be true for the frigate? I'd like to be able to ID and fire on the hostile frigate before I trigger a radar warning for it, because once it's aware of my presence it seems like its SAMs do a decent job of taking out at least one of my missiles. If any of you can answer my questions or can suggest a different way to ID the target I'd be grateful if you let me know.

+1 It was great that Wags spoke clearly on the timetable in his direct letter, but after mentioning this change of plans in a comment on facebook and nowhere else leaves us back where we were before, trying to keep up with who heard what from who when. I hope someone from ED posts an official announcement - almost as much as I hope that comment on facebook was supposed to read "weeks" instead of "months".

Just came across an article that mentioned that some AV-8Bs had their Mission Systems Computer upgraded from the AN/AYK-14 to something newer - maybe the AMC&D. Can someone say which Mission Systems Computer our Harrier has? Can anyone confirm the name of the computer some were upgraded to? I did check the pocket guide but wasn't able to locate that info.
