I expect that you'd be set up as you should be. If you would like to confirm that and you are comfortable with viewing or editing your registry, you can follow the process here and, if you need to add or change the entry, here.

Interesting idea about the qualification. Just in case you’re not already aware, Maple Flag have made qualification campaigns for other airframes, so if anyone will do it it’s them.
-
I hope that is what they meant. I do agree a module needs to be finished before training missions are created. Thanks for answering :)

In the sticky Hornet FAQ here, in answer to "Will interactive training missions and a free campaign be included?", Wags says "Not for the Early Access release, but they may be included at a later point. This has not been decided". Can anyone provide any information on when ED might decide if interactive training will be included? If they decide not to include that training, will ED engage a third-party campaign designer to create a paid training campaign, or will that be up to a campaign designer themself? Lastly, if the Hornet doesn't include interactive training, will that make it the first full-fidelity a/c to not include one?

I downloaded what I needed for 2.5 OB on LTE mobile data at up to 1 MB/s (ie 10 Mb/s). I downloaded the hotfix on ADSL 2 at 200 - 300 KB/s (2 - 3 Mb/s). FTR I'm in a pre-NBN Western Australia suburb.

Yeah, good point, knowing how close the terrain below me is doesn't guarantee there isn't a mountain in front of me, but it will help just the same
-
Gotcha, it will def help to see how quickly I'm gaining or losing altitude, thanks :)

How do you deal with descending through cloud cover? I had hoped terrain avoidance mode would nerf the problem, but it provides such a small vertical return that when I’m flying back down it doesn’t inform me of an approaching ridge until it’s too late to avoid it. I try to avoid ascending through cloud cover but sometimes (eg when flying through a canyon) I don’t realize until the only way out is up. Is there a technique for dealing with cloud cover or do you have to rely on best guess and crossed fingers too?

Oh wow, I had thought the gear locked in the middle position, good to know otherwise, guess I learned something too :)

I think you are supposed to get the option of keeping or removing 2.2 OA when you install 2.5 stable. If you would rather just have one version of DCS installed, when 2.5 release is available you can follow the options here to convert your 2.5 OpenBeta to 2.5 Release, and if it doesn't give you the option to remove 2.2 OB you can manually remove it once you have 2.5 stable.
-
That's not an issue with the beta, I got the Mig-21 when I had 1.5 and the clipping issues (parts going underground) have always been there for me. I suggest you go to the relevant subforum here if you want further information. I'll just mention this since I wasn't aware at first - the MiG-21 landing gear handle has 3 positions instead of the usual 2, as well as wheels up and wheels down there is a "neutral" position in between, so for instance when you are getting ready to land you should lower the handle to the lowest point, and once the landing gear is extended move the handle back up to the neutral position. If you want to confirm whether your wheels are up or down you can use the F2 external view.

Ah ok great, thanks for the information funkyfranky :)

If you install 2.5 OB I would expect that the download required for 2.5 stable would be reduced, although I couldn't even guess by how much. I don't know how long it will be before stable releases, the latest I'm aware of was this post where Wags declined to give an ETA, so it might be a little while. Aside from what you have to do to access two downloads instead of one I can't think of anything that would wind up being worse when you install stable if you have OB on your machine, provided you have space for two copies on your hard drive - on that note my OB is just under 90 GB with Nevada and my modules. I am hopeful that I won't need to download more than a couple of GB more to install stable, but that hope isn't based on anything lol. Still, might be worth just going far enough with the upgrade to see how large the download will be in case it's a small enough amount that you can manage it with your mobile data, if not you should be able to cancel it and start it again at your friend's house. OB is running nicely for me, I think it is a big step forward from 1.5, I didn't use 2.2 OA much but I think 2.5 OB is better than that too. However, there is the memory leak that Wags sited as the biggest issue ED wants to resolve before releasing stable, and I'm not sure how high you'll be able to run your settings until you swap your 580s out for something with more vram, but if they were dealing with 2.2 OA ok I'd expect they'll be alright for the meantime.

I'll answer the last part: 2.5 Stable is not out yet, should be soon but no ETA right now. If you want to do the download once and for all I suggest you keep checking here for the installer to be posted. The 2.5 installer should reuse all the files it can so you won't have to download everything again. However, be aware that a lot of people will be downloading at the same time so your download probably won't use your friend's full bandwidth and will take longer as a result. I think I wound up having to download about 15 GB in addition to what I already had in my 2.2 OA which is about the size of the new Caucasus map, but you might have to download more, depending on whether updates or anything else gets included in 2.5 stable.

I'm struggling to understand how to patrol an area set as "RUTA". I had thought when I was in master mode SPA the navigation would lead me from one corner point to another, but neither the course index on the outer ring of the CI nor the HUD navigation direct me to RUTA corner points. The radar does display the RUTA corner points but it's difficult to use that alone because I can only see one corner point at a time that way, so when I reach one corner and turn I'm not confident I've found the correct line to get to the next corner point. Any help with the above would be very welcome. However... Is there a way to access the individual missions of the Caucasus mini-campaign? If the recon problems above prevent me completing mission 1 I'd still like to use the other missions because I've done the single missions to death! Thanks for reading, help would be appreciated.

Awesome, much appreciated Cobra :)

Are both the A & B variants of the Tomcat going to be included in one module? If not, is there likely to be a bundle or discount offered for people who buy both? I did find a Q & A where Nicholas said the pricing wouldn't be exorbitant but I was still unclear about the questions above, so if someone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

Sounds like it's time to bind active pause to a HOTAS button...
-
I wonder if Razbam are waiting on the "play ball" from ED or the relevant authorities... Could make a big difference to how imminent this module might be.
-
Nice, thanks for that!
-
Me either
-
That has nothing to do with this thread.

Thanks so much for the quick reply and link. Really appreciate the political ‘what if’ plots you weave into these campaigns, will keep a lookout for this

Thanks, much appreciated :)

Hi BD, I saw a comment you made last July about making a Red Flag campaign for the Mirage 2000 in NTTR where visiting UAE Mirages participate. Do you still plan to release this campaign, and if so, do you expect to release it in the first half of this year?
