  1. Hi acdelta57, I have both the X52 and the TM Warthog. Since plugging in the TM six months ago, I haven't got the X52 out of the cupboard! Okay, I'm a big A10C fan but I also fly F86, Me109K, FW190D, Huey and the P51D. I don't find the TM to be overly stiff - although I have contemplated getting an extension, purely to position it centrally, between the legs rather than to one side. Being a medical person, I do want to minimise the risk of any 'repetitive strain injury', and consequently have positioned the TM at such a height that the forearm is parallel to the floor. Do bear in mind that there's far more options for mapping switches and controls with the TM too. My advice would be 'bite the bullet' and get the TM - I had reservations but as the old adage goes 'you'll recognise the quality long after you've forgotten the price!' I hope this helps.....
  2. For those of you who appear enthusiastic about purchasing GTX1070/GTX1080 - all I can say is: Let me know when your GTX980Ti goes on Ebay!
  3. BTW - Just forked out for MFG Crosswind rudder pedals. I'm a gliding instructor and there's no better discipline in aviation that requires accurate use of rudder. They are the ultimate!
  4. I suspect that we all know...... Do we compromise spacing between the pedals...for a stick between our legs, as per 'real life', ..or do we compromise...as per 'side stick' (ie A320) - which is entirely acceptable? My RL flying hasn't been influenced by either. Physically, you have to do the 'necessary' to create the correct 'picture', whether by yoke, right, left or central stick. I know a couple of A320 pilots who admit the changeover from right hand (first officer) to Captain (left hand) has never been an issue. Fundamentals - hand/eye coordination. End of. My two pence worth....
  5. I voted no. If we had maps to cover the Falklands/Malvinas, that's a different story. If I were a developer (which I'm not), part of the appeal is that the aircraft fits the map! And given the anticipation of the WW2, that's where I'd be concentrating - on a fit for that. A twin would be nice....especially if was a mossie!!
  6. A fine piece of engineering - very smooth and precise.... S/N 2016 Location - Lancs, UK
  7. Brilliant. Very interesting and entertaining. Good work Dojo - if that was without editing, I'm very impressed - very fluid, perhaps a media career awaits?
  8. When I was doing a RL instrument rating, the most valuable training tool (which saved ££££) was the facility in MS flight sim to save everything at a given moment. That included aircraft, weather, position, all radio/navaid settings and whatever aircraft configuration was set. For example, I was able to 'drop' myself at an IP prior to an ILS or over an NDB to practice a hold. I have to admit to being a complete Luddite when it comes to programming. Is it a do-able thing to develop a program with GUI within DCS that could do the same? It would be a groundbreaker to accelerate instrument navigation/procedural training. Personally, I'd pay good money for such a facility - and it wouldn't take long for others to appreciate the benefits too. JCK
  9. That first session was fantastic. We're truly grateful that Olie gave generously of his time. My questions are.... 1. Given that there ain't any 2 seater A10's - how much time was devoted to familiarisation with aircraft systems before the first flight? 2. How much simulator time did this entail? 3. Was detailed weapons/avionics training excluded until after 'hands-on' familiarisation, or were you expected to know 'the whole show' at the earliest stage? Many thanks JCK
  10. Anyone else had this one? Latest 1.5 seems to have lost the ability to name controls/switches since the last update. Works fine in 2.0 though John
  11. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone else has come across this? Recently bought the Warthog HOTAS setup (primarily for DCS). I also fly online sailplane races in Condor Soaring Simulator. Whilst mapping the joystick/throttle directly to Condor, I was able to map most functions similar to my X52Pro. However, the dedicated trim switch on the joystick stubbornly refused to be mapped to any 'trimmer' function within Condor. It's not a massive issue as I was able to map it to the slider on the throttle. It just seemed a bit weird why it wouldn't do it? As the HOTAS maps directly within DCS, I don't really want to start using intervening mapping software if can help it. I'd appreciate any advice you might have. I recall reading somewhere that this button defaults to POV if you don't run Track IR (which I do). cheers John
  12. Used the DCS updater to upgrade from 1.2 and my Track IR ain't working. Any ideas? Many thanks
  13. Buzzles - thank you The learning curve doesn't stop at the flying.....time for more homework!! best regards
  14. Hi All, Is it possible to create a flight in mission editor that keeps specific avionics settings, as per FSX etc? It could be really useful, for example when shooting an ILS, being at the IAF with frequencies (ILS/TACAN/ADF/R-T) and OBS already set. John
  15. Great idea.....but Imagine the added complexity extending scenery by a factor of x1000? Then integrating flight plans/mil/civ//atc/radio...etc etc I think we recognise that most of us would accept a 'global' compromise in favour of an enhanced local/VR/Multiscreen experience. Just my twopence worth. Christmas Greetings to all.. JCK
  16. Wow.... the next generation! Hats off to you guys.
  17. windows 8.1 switch to full screen Hey, after all this anticipation, 24 hrs download etc etc.... Looks great but seems to run default windowed mode. Despite my best efforts, in windows 8.1, can't seem to get running in full screen. Any advice guys?? cheers JCK
  18. Doh.....got it Just me being stupid - many thanks for prompt replies JCK
  19. You guys are a great help.....especially for a dinosaur like me. Having great fun with A10C - even bought the Thrustmaster HOTAS! Just bought the Nevada range, got activation code but don't know how to go about installing it! Sorry for being such a dimwit but I would appreciate your help!! JCK
  20. I've trawled the forum to see if anyone has a similar problem with no success. Forgive me for being a bit of a dinosaur, but I could be wrestling with the difference between XP and recently upgraded 8.1 I've purchased/downloaded A10C and downloaded DCS World. Got both folders in the 'downloads' but can't progress beyond this. Help please!! JCK
