I tried out one of the more crazier toys of the hog, the CBU 97 and man that thing is like the creative mad scientist/Rube Goldberg machine of bombs. Widely destructive yet intensively precise, when you manage to get that thing in the middle of a convoy or a motor pool it feels like it's moving heaven and earth. But that's the problem, isn't it? Actually getting that thing on target. And even when you do, a strong persistent wind will carry the parachutes way off target, even when the bomb itself is planted perfectly where you wanted it. The single mission "target practice" is a prime example, lots of clustered up targets yet a strong gale that always pushes the bomblet's off course when they are in the parachute stage. Even the WCMD armed 105 version also seems to suffer from strong winds. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice on getting these things on target?

I find that for MBTs, diving down at a steeper angle on them really makes a difference. I don't know if DCS simulates angled armor and its ballistic properties, but it at the very least gives you a slightly bigger target profile and prevents the MG on the MBT from firing back while you're gunning. That being said, it's like a 60+ degree dive and the high g pullout is kinda rough. And it's too easy to accidently overcommit a second or two in your gun run and turn your gun run into a kamakazi strike. Maybe 20 years from now, they'll extend the A-10 program again and shoehorn a more powerful Gat and call it an A-10D. That'd be quite a kick, in my opinion.

Then read the entire post. "Or not allow repairs for damages that would take time outside the scope of the mission? "

Got my A10c torn up like a cheap condom a few minutes back. Wingtip gone, tires blown out, one engine dead, gun dead, HUD gone, APU wrecked. It was quite harrowing. Called up for repairs and got a factory new plane in half the time it takes to change the oil on a car. Can we have an option for realistic repair times available? Or not allow repairs for damages that would take time outside the scope of the mission?

Oculus Rift "Touch"
WelshZeCorgi replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It is quite the conundrum, since using an Oculus rift prevents you from seeing the physical hotas and keyboard in front of you (since your entire vision is locked inside the headmounted screen), therefore a new "peripheral controller" is required for games as complicated as DCS world... Its not a problem with an PS controller or a XBox controller, since your hands never really move in relation to the controller, but with a game with so many buttons that it requires Hotas and keyboard to play, you have to use something that would be able to transfer to the game without taking off the goggles. -
Dynamic Campaign Discussion Thread
WelshZeCorgi replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Lets not lose our heads in the cloudless realms of possibility, as awesome as that sounds, it also sounds very expensive and time consuming to develop. We should ground our expectations and suggestions to more realistic footings. Falcon 4.0BMS has a wonderful dynamic campaign, so I've heard, I've never played it. Maybe aiming for something less but similar would be good. -
Oculus Rift "Touch"
WelshZeCorgi replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Alternatively, they could make the virtual cockpit hotas fully functional and using the touch to manupulate them, making physical hotas unnessesary, though the feel of an actual stick and throttle in my hands would be sorely missed... Or a "fingertip" sensor where it's just one motion sensor at the end of one finger and tapping pushes buttons, flicking flips switches and twirling your finger turns knobs? I don't know, it's theorycrafting and conjecture at this point. -

On second thought, they might not be so easy to use with a Hotas... -
Like many people with a heartbeat and a love for simulation, I've been following the Oculus rift and had always wondered since the announcement of the Oculus Touch, whether DCS will support the Oculus Touch. Here is an exerpt from http://phandroid.com/2015/06/11/oculus-rift-price-release-date/ Oculus Touch is a new input option that’ll allow you to control your games with your hands instead of a traditional controller. It supports gestures, hand presence and object manipulation in the game world. I don't know about you guys, but being able to flip switches, press buttons and turn knobs with both hands instead of fiddling with a mouse seems pretty cool. That being said, I'm not jumping out of my seat yet. Most of us have had experiences with new tech controllers like the Wii and Xbox's HAL9000. So at best it will work and we'll be starting up our A10C's with our "hands", at worst it will be a messy uncontrollable gimmick... But the point is, what is DCS's thoughts on supporting this new controller?

Which is helpful, but a training mission where you perform these procedures in practice would be ideal.

+1 It always felt weird to me when 100% of the time, the entire map would be in one determined, unchanging weather state or another.

Unless we find a way to replace silicon transistors with alternatives, I have doubts. Moore's law is collapsing, but who knows? Hardware engineers are pretty smart. http://techland.time.com/2012/05/01/the-collapse-of-moores-law-physicist-says-its-already-happening/ “So there is an ultimate limit set by the laws of thermal dynamics and set by the laws of quantum mechanics as to how much computing power you can do with silicon,” says Kaku, noting “That’s the reason why the age of silicon will eventually come to a close,” and arguing that Moore’s Law could “flatten out completely” by 2022.

Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
WelshZeCorgi replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
I'll probrably just buy it from ED, now that I consider that steam takes a cut from whatever profit is made from a 70% discount. If any company deserves financial security, it would prob be ED and its partners. -

If you want the best and quickest answer to that problem, should probrably click this link to get into the user support section of the DCS website, follow the directions and don't purchase anything until you know for sure you're not going to get charged full price. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/ -

It's my opinion that steam is just a hair more convenient. God knows I have a bunch of games I bought outside of steam that I keep forgetting exists cause it's not on by steam games list. -

Flash sale not applied to steam? Why is this weekend flash sale not applicable to steam? And also, what's the difference between buying a download copy here and buying it on steam? -

KH-25MPU in single mission "command post strike"
WelshZeCorgi replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in Su-25T Issues
Did ED ever say why they downgraded the explosive power? Also, are they going to bring the explosive power back to... realistic 1 shot lvls? -
KH-25MPU in single mission "command post strike"
WelshZeCorgi replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in Su-25T Issues
After a number of them are destroyed, the rest that survive the initial strikes seem to turn off their radar in order to prevent being fired upon by anti-radar missiles, only turning them back on when you're very close. By that time, you've passed the min range requirements and only have moments before the missile hits you.
