Agreed, cannot stop wanting to thank ED in meme form... It's a sickness... Help me.

Yes, well done. Excellent, additions and improvements. It almost boggles the mind, visually and performance wise, it almost feels like a completely different game...

First impressions of 1.5 Beta
WelshZeCorgi replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I'd say that even as a beta, 1.5 is a great improvement across the board to an already great Sim. Guys should be pretty proud of your baby. -
I'd have to agree, in a real world combat situation, everyone would hurl a ton of lead at you during a gun run. And since you essentially need to fly in a straight line for at least 5 seconds at about 1.5km away the chances of getting peppered by machinegun fire would be dangerous. I myself have learned never to gun a tank that has its platoonmates nearby supporting it. Even if I kill the tank, his mates might hit me and knock out important systems, including the GAU. I always gun the last tank or an isolated tank with no fire support.

"You thought the waiting was just about to end..." Giveaway

Almost feels like cheating if only 5-6 people posts on this topic... -
As a man that has played Phoenix Wright games, this is clearly attempted manslaughter... GUILTY!!!

Realistic Damage models for ground forces

I would like to add that it would be nice to have visual graphics representing states of damage/destruction. Such as delinked tracks or broken drivewheels for mobility kills, visible damage on gun barrel or banana peeled barrels... Not a common occurrence I know -
I'd fire all them misssills and do the same... Probably get shot down a dozen times by SAMs too... too distracted by the smoke effects to actually put effort into actually dodging the SAM

Don't get trolled, SithSpawn has said that it won't be released today and may require a few more days at most before release. If SithSpawn says that, it's very likely to be true.

I think it's important to let everyone new to the plane know that when you take off/land in an FW190, you have to lock the tailwheel before starting your take off run, and after touching down on landing otherwise you just rudder your way into a crash. So for those who have trouble, pull your stick back (all the way back and keep it pulled all the way back) and neutralize the tailwheel to lock it.

Oh god, it's painful... All this feverous waiting is like holding it in after eating 2 Chipotle burritos...

I would like to suggest better, more realistic DM for things like tanks, APCs and trucks. Well... at least tanks if nothing else. As it is right now, the DM for ground forces are a bit binary. They are either alive, or dead and in DCSW there is no such thing as a mobility kill (tracks/suspension/engine destroyed) or a mission kill (gun/optics destroyed). I believe a more realistic DM for at least tanks would greatly improve gameplay and immersion. Please voice your opinions in the poll above. Thanks.

So where do we download it from when it is released? the DCS website download page?

So... how do you download 1.5 when it comes out? is it just automatic update or do you go to the download page at the DCS website?

After a bit more experimentation, high angle diving attacks increase the effectiveness of the GAU immensely. So if you're diving at a T-80U at a shallow, 10-20 degree angle, you're not going to do much other than wrecking all the sensors, explosive armor and other systems that the tank relies on during combat, but since DCS doesn't model that, the tank is unaffected. I usually spend my entire CM load and usually the tank lives, sometimes the tank dies. However, if I am diving at the same T-80U at say, 45 degrees or more I find that I only need 300-600 rounds to light it afire and I can do it consistently. That being said, this is with the A-10C that has the PAC-1 simulated. The A-10A doesn't have the PAC-1 simulated, which would hurt your accuracy in a sustained burst.

I'd love to see Israel and it's historical conflicts in DCS. (6 day, Yom Kippur) It's such an incredible conflict and really was a great historical example of what a good air force can do in a tight situation. Israel wouldn't even exist anymore if their air force didn't do as well as they had, 'specially in the six day war.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
WelshZeCorgi replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I think flying the SR-71 blackbird would be super cool... it was my obsession during childhood... -
Has anyone ever beaten this mission? I find that I always run out of all my ammo before I've destroyed all targets and my wingman keeps getting shot down, by SAMs so he's no help. I try rushing back to base to rearm, reload and get back into the fight but by the time I get back, they are already pushing into the town and I either have to rush my attacks or risk losing the mission. Anyone beat it have some advice for this single mission?

What is your most anticipated feature in 1.5/2.0?
WelshZeCorgi replied to Jazz_44's topic in Chit-Chat
The feature I'm waiting for the most is its physical existance on my computer hard drive. -
in the A10C CSAR single mission, tanks drive down a cliffside road, with a 60+ degree cliffside to their right and a near 90 degree drop to their left into a river below. When I attack these tanks, the survivors scatter, and somehow manage to climb their tanks up or down the absurdly steep inclines on both side.

Thanks for the help! I'll try it out once I get home... Then I'll become unstoppable!!

Easier said than done, it's what I've been doing the past few days, been using the first bomb like a spotting round than trying to correct the difference on the second. What usually happens is that a few get caught by the skeets, maybe 2 or 3 out of the 14-20 targets and when that happens the survivors scatter and makes it even harder to get them on the second pass. Any A10C pilots out there that can share their experiences with this munition and what they did on frustratingly windy days?
