fixed [REPORTED]2.5.6.48283 F-16 Generator/Power issue
WingC3 replied to WingC3's topic in Bugs and Problems
It occurs after my first sortie, when I'm sitting on the ramp in front of the other F-16. Not sure exactly how far in. https://drive.google.com/open?id=14zBxIw-K2Jn9aGq1nqO02cb7EXR5MRIo -
Hi all, I'm not sure if this is a bug or what the root cause is: I was sitting on the ground at sochi with the engine and all other systems running while I was explaining some things to a friend who just got the viper. After about 15 minutes, I suddenly got a master caution and the annunciator panel showed the "elec sys" light. I lost all the secondary systems: Radar, HUD, etc. But, the engine was still running, and the lights were on. I shutdown the jet, and requested repair, but the aircraft was not seen to be damaged by the crew. However, restarting the engine, the main generator never came back online. Any idea what caused it? Did I inadvertently overheat something? If so, what was it, and how long can the jet be idled on the ground safely?

Did you have the probe heat on? This sounds like a sensor icing up...

I wonder why they didn't standardise the link-16 interface.
-
I'm not, since I submitted that bug, but it is related.

I'm wondering why it is that the F-16 and F-18 have different IFF+Datalink behaviours even though they're both using Link-16? Principally: Why does the F-18 remember IFF data on friendlies after the interrogation has ended, but the F-16 does not? In the F-18, once you interrogate a target, it turns green and stays green as long as it is continually detected, even if it's not on datalink. In the F-16, a interrogated friendly, does not get recorded permanently as friendly (green) unless it is also on datalink. Is this the way it really is, or is this WIP?
-
In TWS on the Hornet, the apparent vector line for the target shows the opposite direction from what the HUD shows. The HUD is correct. See the screenshot for an example. The target is moving left to right. The hud displays this correctly. The radar indicates that it's moving right to left. It is only incorrect for left vs right. Hot vs Cold is still displayed correctly it appears.

Reproduced! I have a trackfile in which it occurs, but it's 215MB (long play session). Sadly it also happens towards the end. It's too big to attach here. What can we do? It's too intermittent to reliably reproduce. Seems to be a datalink issue. Here you can see multiple contacts seen by both the radar and datalink. They show as hostile, but the M4 interrogation overlay shows that they are actually friendly.

Yeah the F14 is a tank. Potentially TOO survivable. So it clearly is down to damage model, and like I said, that might even be REALISTIC. Although there are certainly numerous accounts of F18 and F16 pilots escaping aircraft after missile hits during the gulf war. So I simply think the survival percentage should be increased A BIT. Makes CSAR gameplay possible too. Which is something one used to see more of.
-
Just an observation: Am I the only one who finds that one basically never survives being hit by a missile in the F-18, F-16, or JF-17. I don't think I've ever had the chance to eject from any of these aircraft after being hit by a missile from any angle. Maybe that's realistic, but then, it's not aligned with the FC3 experience, and also getting tossed around the sky after getting hit and then managing to eject is fun... I'm not suggesting that the aircraft itself should be flyable after getting hit, but it would be interesting to make the pilot robust enough to eject at least SOME of the time Thoughts?

fixed [REPORTED] Still no chaff flare message?
WingC3 replied to Shotsx74's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, same here. I don't think the audio is broken, I just think the initial state of the DED UI is out of sync with the actual state of the backend. (SAME is true for the cursor position on the chaff and flare BQ settings: when the page is first loaded, it appears that BQ is selected, but the cursor is really on the next item down) -
How does the SD-10 missile compare to the AIM-120C?
WingC3 replied to MobiSev's topic in JF-17 Thunder
That would be interesting indeed. Since the R-77 suffers from the same auto-deploying drag chute the moment its motor is expended. -

Appreciation Your openness to feedback is really commendable. I think the majority of the tuning needs to be to the 120 and other FC3-era missiles, but continuing to ensure the accuracy of your models too is appreciated. :) -
SonofEil has it right. It is intermittent depending upon how you approach the page.

[REPORTED] Radio presets can't be cycled on main DED page
WingC3 replied to WingC3's topic in Bugs and Problems
Track and youtube video Here we go! Track attached. Video on youtube: Bug track.trk -
I will try to record a video of this, but essentially, when selecting a preset on the COM1 or COM2 pages in the DED, the currently configured frequency in each preset is displayed, but the preset number does NOT until you move the selection off of it, then the correct preset number is shown. The correct behaviour should be that as you cycle through the presets, both the preset number AND its configured frequency should be shown.

[REPORTED] Radio presets can't be cycled on main DED page
WingC3 posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
When on the main DED page, the UHF and VHF radio channels cannot be changed with the increment/decrement rocker. Steerpoint CAN be cycled this way, but the frequencies can't. Yes, I had the appropriate item selected first and it had the up and down arrows next to it. -
Countermeasures don't rearm Able to successfully re-arm hardpoints and refuel the aircraft, but I cannot get the chaff or flares quantities to change or re-arm. Reproduced in single and multiplayer and on the Caucuses and Nevada Maps.

Registration Callsign:jmigreen Preferred Aircraft:F-15C Though I'm new on the forum, I'm not new to DCS. Most of the TAW guys can vouch for that if need be.
