Yeah, that make sense - I.e. normally you probably don't want to pop some flare on the runway or during take off. Well, if we ever get a DCS-BIOS support for a future Viggen module we have come a long way. There are already people on this forum building interfaces for real instruments also... Yes, I have considered becoming a member for a long time... just did'nt happen yet.

Thanks. Any idea how the nose gear and countermeasure system interacts here? can you elaborate? By the way, I have been flying your Viggen simulator some years ago. Would love to do it again with a DCS Viggen module installed ;)

I really need to find a copy of that manual :)
-
Hm... the options are "LANDN" or "AUT".

Here is the right side panel, and once again - please help out with the gaps or persisting errors. AJS37_RightPanel.xls.pdf

Thanks! Most things makes some sense now. When it comes to the sidewinder volume knob, I'm pretty sure it means that the UK/VHF radio is attenuated if volume is increased. When it comes to AFK, is the TIPPVÄXEL switch (on the right side) related to this system?

Found this: "AFK avlastade flygföraren vid landning genom att reglera motorns dragkraft så att fart eller anfallsvinkel hålls konstant." "The automatic throttle (speed) control helped the pilot at landing by setting the thrust so that either speed or aoa is constant"

Most of it seems to be right, but I have added and corrected some of it. There are still some missing bits however, so anyone with more knowledge please step in. My uncle was flying the Vampire and Lansen back in the days, so some generic swedish air force mumbo-jumbo can be explained by him. But out of context it can be really hard. AJS37_LeftPanel.xls.pdf

Yes, best christmas gifts ever (or at least since I realized Fighter Bomber on the Amiga had the Viggen:) ). Now we just need as Sweden map confirmed.
-
Probably just a dummy. The radar panel and joystick is missing a lot of buttons etc.

Not the AJS-37 (so it is missing some equipment), but still a nice cockpit view: http://www.museeairespace.fr/aller-plus-haut/panoramas-360/360-cabines-de-pilotage/panorama-360-saab-sk-37e-viggen/

Here are some details about the RB24J missile: RB 24J is closest to the AIM-9P and was a modified version of the AIM-9B/E.This version had some tactical improvements, as thermal cooling of the seeker head (-30 degrees Celcius) for better sensitivity. The nose had a conical shape for reduced drag. Updated rudder design (double delta) for better turn performance. The engine was upgraded for better thrust. The IR-fuse was replaced with a laser-fuse. The avionics had a new "rate-bias" circuit so that the seeker was directed at the front end of the heat source closer to the actual target. Some of the electronics was now based on transistors (not just minature vacuum tubes like in the RB24B) All variants of the 37 (and 39) planes could uncage the seeker for target tracking before launch for higher hit rate. It was made in USA and was in Swedish service from 1977. Length / Weight: 3 m / 80 kg

Yes, I will be out there with my camera - will share the pictures later :)

You are welcome. I have been in global company for 10 years, so almost everything I say and write is in english, so I believe I can do some good here. However there are some very system specific details I can't figure out on my own. The Swedish armed forces has created a lot of interesting abbreviations, that doesn't make much sense until you know what they are about (but then it makes very much sense). So when translating a simple thing like the cockpit layout, you have to do a lot of cross-referencing in order to understand what it is and what it does. There should be people aorund here with more experience of this aircraft than I do, so we will need to co-operate here. Or just wait for the LNS provided manual ;) By the way, a part of me was hoping for the Draken - it is indeed a beatiful peace of equipment

I did a translation some time ago in another thread, for those who don't understand Swedish... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2569468&postcount=2233

To you who consider a Swedish aircraft seeing action outside northern Europe unrealistic should really do some google-fu :music_whistling: I'll give you some starters: J-29, Congo

Hm... well, calling it neutral is stretching the truth a bit... The (unoficcial) collaboration with NATO has been going on for a loooong time. Sometimes I believe the Swedish Airforce was doing a lot more than the Swedish government even knew about. A lot of equipment was more or less designed for an easy adaption to NATO standards. There are rumors about two sets of equipment at some airbases. One that fitted the connectors at Swedish aircrafts, and one set that you didn't ask about and that had no labels etc.. And there has also been a lot of intelligence exchange. That is one of the reasons why we had airplanes shot down over the Baltic sea...
-
I would say that Sweden was closer to an open confligt with CCCP than USA ever was. There are numerous incidents like the U-137 incident when we had the Soviet navy almost doing a forced rescue attempt. There are also some incidents with Soviet shooting down Swedish aircrafts and so on. Perhaps the Swedish aircrafts are the reason they never dared to do something more?

Getting a little bit off topic, but DOSBox is something you really should try. And if you want to play old Amiga games you should try WinUAE.
-
Just remembered I can fly the Viggen on my Neo Geo arcade system as well, not just the Amiga
-
One of the engineers building the radar was making some comments in the "speculation" thread.
-
The final comment from the Viggen pilot: "Here I am a little wroth throwing my helmet at the ground. It wasn't a succesful landing..." :music_whistling:
-
Well, even though not completely correct, that could be achieved just by limiting the weapons available (in the mission)? :music_whistling:

I really need to fire up my Amiga and play some Fighter Bomber while waiting for this module to be released...
