  1. I think most PCB makers have a "prototype" service that is for low quantity series that offers a pretty low cost. I have been using this service and usually the minimum order is for 10 PCB's. The cost is approximately 10USD for 50*50mm boards and approximately 20USD for 100*100mm boards. Many also offer a service with components mounted, but the you end up with very different price range. Haven't tried that yet so I can't really elaborate on that. So far I have used Seed and Itead. http://www.seeedstudio.com/service/index.php?r=pcb https://www.itead.cc/open-pcb/pcb-prototyping.html
  2. Yes, it was indeed more "cowboy style" back then, which probably ended up in better pilots and soldiers. Unfortunately that also ended up in a lot of casualties and injuries. However war is dangerous, and then most people accepted that preparing for war was also dangerous. For many years it has been ridiculously away on the other end of the scale, which is no good either. If the situation turns ugly the armed forces and the population isn’t prepared to handle a crisis. With the last years events it is starting to swing back again, but is going slow. Living in Sweden during the cold war era was for sure interesting. Myself might be a little biased (as in pro military) being a third generation in a military family. There are many stories that could be told, everything from great exercises to the polish students selling paintings (however never visiting the neighbors, just our family). And I have fond memories of Drakens and Viggens in the skies on a daily basis, and road trips that suddenly was halted temporary because of Viggens landing on a road base... :)
  3. I believe Eagle is one of the most common applications when it comes to PCB design. Personally I use Diptrace (still learning), mostly because of some really good tutorials on youtube. So far I have designed and ordered two different PCB's, and it is pretty amazing that you can go from a few minutes effort on your PC to having a complete PCB in your mail shortly after - and all this at a pretty low cost.
  4. I assumed Arduino, since that is indicated in the original post.
  5. There was also another story about an old lady calling the local air force commander when a couple of Viggens blew off the roof tiles at her little cabin. Not complaining, just stating the fact. Back in the days the Swedish people had a very positive attitude to the armed forces and the defense of the country. Today unfortunately people have started to question why we should have any armed forces what so ever... and complaining about inconvenience and being disturbed as soon as they see a green vehicle or a person in uniform...
  6. I just love this story from the blogg previously linked to: For the Viggen we had permission to fly as low as 30 meter over land and 20 meter over sea. Previously it was 20m and 10m, but after an incident where a pilot cut the phone wires between two islands (at 8 meters height) and forced to land with some hundred meters of wire hanging from the fuel tank, it was raised to the new levels.
  7. For switches you don't need any resistor(s). For LED's you must have one resistor per LED for current limiting.
  8. This clip is from a Swedish movie, and I think the there's a link to the original clip somewhere here (or in the speculation thread), including the bird strike and preparations for the emergency landing.
  9. Yes, I forgot about the numbers. Please correct med if I'm wrong with the other details also - since my memory might fail me...
  10. A little note about the afterburner. It is a three stage afterburner and the different stages are indicated here (three white lights). The throttle has a very distinct detent when going over from normal to afterburner by the way.
  11. Anyone (renhanxue?) that can elaborate about the following indicators? * Destinationsindikator (red) - What kind of destination? * Avståndsindikator (yellow) - Distance to what? Target (specific weapon?) or navigation?
  12. I second that. It is funny that there are several Swedish words that has a totally different meaning for persons in Germany (mostly of a sexual kind). I still remember my first trip to Austria when I had some funny situations with my limited German vocabulary. One thing I learned is that Öl (Swedish for beer) is some other kind of fluid in the German language ;)
  13. Thanks. But what avout the "SPAK" indicator/button - isn't there a third mode?
  14. Certainly not a job for anyone :music_whistling: But obviously situations like this was driving the development towards what we know today as a standard HOTAS setup. And the best thing - soon we are able to try just how much stress that will put on you (whithout ending up as dead when we will be overloaded and smash in to the ground) ;)
  15. Well, now it makes more sense regarding the hints about a new visualisation/shaders etc.
  16. It is
  17. X-mas wishlist: MIG-21 radar supported :santa:
  18. Dreams might come true. As for a starter I will settle with some big landing crafts (Ropucha), ro-ro ships and perhaps the big Zubr LCAC.
  19. They were not crappy. However not 100%. And as you could tell from the following discussions even Swedes had a hard time to understand some of it :music_whistling:
  20. We need these units (in the picture) :) Additional to your list is primarily IKV and STRV-104 (Centurion).
  21. Don't forget about the PBV 302. This big peace of scrap metal kept me alive in the Bosnian mountains during the war in the nineties  By the way. What I could find is that the PBV 301 had the J21 guns and the PBV 302 had the J-29 guns. Both Hispano-Suiza but different revisions. The gun in the PBV 302 was mounted off center (at the right side of the gunner) so when firing several rounds it was drifting to the right and had to be compensated...
  22. The optical illusion will be hard to mimic... But let's wait and see how LNS will approach this one.
  23. My bet is that there will be some kind of give and take scenario - i.e. target information displayed on the HUD. As for a future cockpit building scenario, I have an old VHS camera with the perfect display for this ;)
  24. So, two different warnings in one? Beacuse going with reverse thrust in transonic speed isn't really a good thing is it? :music_whistling:
  25. There is one thing at the main panel I just can't figure out, and that's the indicator for REV AVDR TRANSONIC. What the heck is that? I'm pretty familiar with all kind of different Swedish military abbreviations, but this makes no sense to me.
