Thanks Beaver for the reply and suggestion. I reduced the windows screen to 100% as suggested and restarted DCS. It all looked the same and when I went to change the DCS resolution the same thing happened. I change the resolution but there is no visible button to save or accept and the only way to progress is call up task manager and end process. Any other suggestions? thanks Drummer OKAY UPDATE; tried again and this time is worked and I can access the okay button and save resolution but as you say all my text is too small. Can you suggest what aspect ratio I should select?
-
Updated and ran P51 for trial flight, okay but wanted to change resolution. Now on start screen all the modules along the bottom of the screen are only just visible. When I go into options and try and readjust the resolution and screen aspect back again I can do so but then there is no accept change or return to previous page button. Perhaps this is also well below the bottom of the visible screen, so is this a bug or another error that I can out right myself?

Since updating today to latest version the game crashes when trying to load mission or instant action. I get a windows error 'DCS has stopped working' and then a DCS error 'cannot open debriefing file' anyone experience difficulties since updating and/or have a solution? thanks drummer:smilewink:

A really great and informative post, thanks for your work!

I think this should be a much louder sound, especially in a running landing or autorotation

That is great to have an update from wags with the premise of regular updates. I am happy to sit and wait patiently but better not to sit and wait in the dark!:joystick:

I don't think it is wrong to ask a question abut how thngs are going or to expect an update every couple of days on progress. One person's idea of 'soon or 'when its done' can be very different from anothers, so information from developers would help. It is wrong to get angry or rude about whatever information that is given, I am sure EVERYONE wants this module released but only when it is complete and bug free. For Ham sandwhich, off topic but where i live we have two villages called ham & sandwich with a road sign pointing to 'ham sandwhich' which of course is regularly stolen by visiting students..!:smartass:

PILOT TRAINING VIDEO USA 1960'S Here is a link to an interesting video about the USA army pilot trainng around the Vietnam era. Shows the whole process from joining up, through training ,onto the Huey and into combat. Interesting enough to keep you occupied :book: whilst we wait for 'you know what'? :music_whistling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBMM_Ux7Dik

sorry, someone has snapped it up and it is sold!

This is the ring bound manual that was printed in limited form a few years ago. It is bound as a ring binder with a hard black cover and embossed with the lock on logo. It is very smart and a worthy edition for you hard nose simmers to add to your collection. This one is unmarked and as new condition. Asking £15 plus postage.

Hi nemesis, thanks for your reply and help. I discovered the falut was all mine as i had installed the wrong patch and a simple correct patch seems to have worked for me! It was obvious really but my brain took a while to catch up! Thanks agin, drummer

hI, I was enjoying the sim but since the patch it will not run and wont'activate or deactivate. Generating an error report and sendin it off has got no result. How do i get back topre patch days and flying again?

you will no doubt get a lot of useful and techy help here because it is a good forum. If all that fails let me tell you what my problems were. Firstly the old joystick I was using gave spurious inputs, especially on the twisty rudder axis. I found this out by calling up the onscreen control input [right control and enter] this showed me the extra spikes my jotstick was adding. Having sorted that I found out how to use the auto pilot buttons, otherwise you are fighting the machine constantly and the machine usually wins. Thats what I learnt so far if that helps.

Should I buy: Logitech , Saitek or Thrustmaster ?
drummer replied to jib's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
hi, as the title of this thread asks which joystick, here is my opinion. I have had a X52 pro for about a month. It came with outdated cd based drivers that didn't recognise the Pro. profiles. It took a while to find, download and get working the right drivers/software etc. It was a pain to set up and took three attempts at installation. The throttle has an afterburner detent at the top and bottom of the movement so that you can't get smooth increase needed for subtle heli flying. You can remove this but at the cost of negating your warranty. The stick itself has a small amount of resistance around the neutral where the spring plate starts to move. Again not ideal for heli flying. On the plus side it looks and feels good in the hand and I got quick support from the forum in gettting it running right..however good it might be for fixed wing I wish had bought something different for black shark -
Perhaps if someone started a list then the price would come down to a reasonable amount?

Just to share a little nugget with you fellow simmers. I had an old X36 saitek throttle and stick unit laying around and inspired by Urze's work decided to Mod it to replicate a collective. I removed the throttle handle and attached it a metal pole. I retated it 90 degrees to the left [so pointing forwards] then 90 degrees so thumb on top. and then attached the pole to the base, soldering the 20 or so wires with extensions wires. The ergonmis feel great and it ll fits then hand shape great. [ to help you imagine the mini thumb joystick is now on top and my thumb on it facing forward] I now pull up the collective for power instead of back towards me with is a more natural and realistic experience. The only problem I had was that all the wires inside were one colour and despite having my own coding sytem I did screw up somewhere and mis mapped some of the wires. But a better cleverer person would have made a good job of it. So if you have an old unit [x 36/ or 45] then might be the work. I do have a x52 pro i use but the converted unit has a better feel.

hi slayer, can you check my process below please to see we are talking about the same thing and i am doing it right? I right click on joystick icon and open profile editor. I click on file box and load a profile [tried downloaded ones and one of mine. I load the profile to the joystick and the icon has a green box around it I push the test profile button and box opens but joystick key presses dont produce any text in the box but pushing keyboard or mouse buttons does produce text. can you see from that description what I might be doing wrong? regards drummer

Okay guys, to add to the problems or maybe my symptons might help someone figure what what is wrong? I have a new X52 pro and the beta SST software mentioned in the thread earlier. I have Vista home premium { i guess 32 bit?] and DCS. I can load a profile and it shows on the mfd, but in the editor is a button to test the profile. When i push any buttons on the x52 nothing shows in this screen, yet if i push the keyboard or mouse it shows up okay. The same is repeated ingame, the axis work okay and the hat for look around but no other buttons. Do these symptoms have a solution or seem familiar to anyone please? regards drummer :music_whistling:

I hear that they are doing away with all that complicated button pushing, active cockpit thing and going for a much simpler flight model. Here is a link to the beta after the patch. http://www.helicoptergame.net/ drummer :music_whistling:
