  1. Thank you for the input; so much to learn so I definitely appreciate it. I will save up for the Thrustmaster Warthog. Even if it takes a while[emoji16]. I have rudder pedals now; from my X-Plane 10 setup. They are the Saitek Pro Flight Cessna and have done a good job so far. I am so excited about upgrading my setup with the A-10C and other goodies. Really looking forward to each thing I can add. Thanks again for the advice! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 2. Definitely! It's on the short list for sure[emoji4]. I'm really looking forward to DCS with the added goodies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  3. Thank you Art! When I first read your reply, I though "man... I've been all over that screen, it can't be there". Then I got a chance to fire it up and... there it is, right where you said it would be[emoji16]. I really had been looking all over and just missed it. If it was a SAM site, would've bit me[emoji16] I'm showing version 1.5.0.45655. Thanks again, Art. I appreciate the help. This forum sure is a fantastic resource for a beginner like me. I've only started 2 threads, but I've used the search function to find answers to a bunch of questions. Definitely the place to be[emoji4] Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 4. Thank you! I need all the help I can get[emoji16] Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  5. When I load up DCS World 1.5 Open Beta, the very first "splash" screen says Version 1.5.0. Is that proper for this screen, or should it show some additional digits for the exact version number? Is there another way to see the exact version I'm at? When I click on the updater icon (from the Windows Start menu), it flashes a box real fast, and then nothing else. Then I tried running it from DCS World\bin folder. Same results. I read the posts here about running the updater from the command line and I tried that. Same results. No error displayed, and it takes just a second to come back. Any help will be greatly appreciated. And I'm a total newbie, so... hopefully I haven't missed something goofy. As a side note, the sim runs great and I'm having a blast. So cool! Just can't get the updater to work... or maybe it has worked and I just can't tell [emoji4]. And, I know this is a beta, so I completely understand that there are rough edges and bugs. But it's totally worth it! Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 6. I'm brand new to DCS World... stunned by the quality and depth! Very impressed! Hard to imagine the amount of hard work and effort that went in to making the sim what it is today. I'm really looking forward to learning as much as possible so I can start flying missions. Very cool! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 7. Thanks Yurgon. I'll check it out tomorrow. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't realize the battlefields were based on real places[emoji15]. I've been overwhelmed at all the cool stuff in the sim... and I'm just using the freebie Su-25T!!!! Can't imagine what it'll be like when I start flying the A-10c :) I'm also really impressed with yooze guys here on the Forum. What a valuable resource! When I did the install, I hit a few snags. Did some searches here and got things sorted out very quickly. I'm still really stunned by how cool the sim is. Just amazing[emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 8. Brand new newbie question... Thank for the heads up, Ultra! I have to save up some money, so that will work out well. I really love the A10; I live close to G.L Martin State Airport and get to watch the National Guard fly them quite often. So the A-10C and a HOTAS are on my buy list. And when the big sale hits, I'll check out other titles as well. Good stuff! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 9. Just thought of something else. I saved tracks for a few of my flights. I'll go back through them and see if the cooling tower shows up in any of those... may just get lucky[emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 10. Thank you Ultra! That sounds like a great way to look around for it. I didn't know about the F11 cam and that technique for looking around. Very cool. If I find it, I'll post back here. 11. This is my first post, so I hope I've posted this in the right place. I just downloaded DCS World 1.5 Open Beta a couple days ago. Have it installed and running well. I've been reading the manuals and flying the Su-25T using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. Very impressed; absolutely amazing! I'll be buying the A-10C as soon as I can swing it :) On one flight, over a densely populated area (a lot of objects), I saw what looked like a nuclear power plant cooling tower. But I was pretty overwhelmed at the time so I can't remember where it was. I used the F10 map to look around, but I'm not sure if there's another way I should be looking. Or another way to see details like the cooling tower. I checked the encyclopedia too but didn't find it. Thanks in advance! Mike
