  1. Just following up on my original question. Per the instructions I got in this thread, I was able to edit the mission. But I never would've figured it out because the filename didn't match the mission name shown in the sim. Thanks again NoJoe! So, I have the A-10C now; changed the mission for the A-10C and made the following changes too: paint scheme to MD Air National Guard targets to Russian, enemy skill level to average mission start for a runway start at Kobuleti set new waypoints (although, I haven't gotten into waypoint navigation much at all). So far, no snags:) Thanks again to NoJoe and grunf! I really appreciate the help! Mike
  2. This would be a *great* addition. I hope there's a way to make it happen. I'm sorry, I'm a DCS rookie so I can't be much help coming up with a solution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 3. That's so cool. Thanks for sharing what you've learned! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  4. Ooooops... sorry about that! Lesson learned :) I live 15 minutes from Martin State Airport and see the Air National Guard flying their A10s quite often. I suppose that's one reason I pounced on that post. No excuse though. Thank you for the correction. I appreciate it! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 5. That's awesome to hear!!!! Thank you for posting that. I was wondering about it but hadn't seen anything solid about it here on the forums. Of course, I'm a new guy, so...[emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  6. Very interesting, thank you! What is your connection to him? He is giving you real world flying lessons? Thank you again. Very cool! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  7. Totally agree, Chris! I was in to flight sims way back in the late '80s. Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Simulator, MicroProse F-19 Stealth Fighter... that era. Took a long break from flight sims until a few years ago when I got in to X-plane 9 and 10. I was surprised, and impressed, to see how much things had advanced. Then, a couple months ago, I saw a reference to DCS World and decided to check it out. At that point, I downloaded 1.5 Open Beta and was absolutely stunned. Completely floored in the first few minutes flying the Su-25T. Unreal. As I read through the forums, I see many posts from dedicated DCS flyers who have waited years for EDGE. So I feel really blessed to have come across DCS at just the right time:) I absolutely love the A-10C. I live close to Martin State Airport in Baltimore, Md so I get to see the Air National Guard A-10s flying quite often. It's such a blast to see it simulated in such great detail. Even a paint scheme for the 104th FS :) Thank you, Eagle Dynamics, for all the hard work!!!!!!! Mike
  8. Just tried to run the sim again and it ran fine! I'm at 1.5.2. Not sure what the issue was, but I just tried the A10-C with Black Sea map and all seems fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 9. I just did the update via torrent; complete quickly with no errors. But, just tried to run the sim and it didn't load at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  10. Thank you Razi!!!!! I'm new to DCS and still getting situated. Been so busy that I haven't had time to implement Tyrspawn's 3D Pro profile, so you saved me a lot of time and head scratching :) I read through the description and printed out the details, never realizing that the "code" was out of date. I just knew that the layout was pretty solid and it would save me a TON of time to have a profile to start with. Again, thank you very much for posting here and linking to the code that will ACTUALLY WORK  Rep on the way. Mike
  11. I'm new to DCS and haven't checked in to this yet, but it sounds promising. Thanks for the heads up. Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  12. Also, you might be interested in the Logitech G13. It has 25 keys and a mini joystick. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001NEK2GE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1449688769&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=logitech+g13&dpPl=1&dpID=41Ld7oHhk8L&ref=plSrch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 13. A10C With a not so great joystick I'm in the same situation as you. Saving $ for a good controller setup. Check out this thread; a profile to use for the 3D Pro. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81116 Basically, you can use the hat switch for several different functions by using a "modifier" key or keys. I'm going to use a lot of the assignments as shown in the linked thread, but tweak a few things. Hope that helps, Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 14. Excellent video! Thank you for that. Very cool. I can't wait to fly the A-10C under the bridge and around that area :) Fun stuff! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  15. Wow! Thank you for that report. That really is awesome. Still in Alpha, so really looking forward to the fine tuning/tweaking and what's ahead. It sure is a GREAT time to be a flight sim enthusiast :) Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 16. I don't have an iPad (yet), but I found the app for the iPhone in the App Store. At least I think it's the same app... haven’t had a chance to check it out, and it would definitely be better on a bigger screen (iPad), but very cool nonetheless.
  17. THANK YOU for the thoughtful, detailed reply. Great information!!! Ill dig in to this and report back with my findings. Should have some time here in the next week or so. Thanks again! Greatly appreciated. Will send rep as soon as I get to my real PC (TapaTalk now). Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 18. Just tweaked the original post a bit. Hoping there is a way to change the default paint scheme for all flights. Thank you! Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  19. I know this thread is a year old, but I really enjoyed the subject matter and your video. Great job! I just came across some info that I thought I'd post about. I apologize in advance if this has already made the rounds. Here's a link to the whole blog post at 'This Day In Aviation 26 January 1975" http://www.thisdayinaviation.com/tag/streak-eagle/ And a snippet from the blog post: The flight profiles for the record attempts were developed by McDonnell Douglas Chief Experimental Test Pilot, Charles P. “Pete” Garrison (Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force, Retired). Streak Eagle carried only enough fuel for each specific flight, and weighed 36,709 pounds (16.650.9 kilograms). It was secured to the hold-back device on the runway and the engines were run up to full afterburner. It was released from the hold-back and was airborne in just three seconds. When the F-15 reached 420 knots (777.84 kilometers per hour), the pilot pulled up into an Immelman, holding 2.65 Gs. Streak Eagle would arrive back over the air base, in level flight at about 32,000 feet (9,754 meters), but upside down. Rolling up right, Streak Eagle continued accelerating to Mach 1.5 while climbing through 36,000 feet (10,973 meters). It would then accelerate to Mach 2.25 and the pilot would pull the fighter up at 4.0 Gs until it reached a 60° climb angle. He held 60° until he had to shut down the engines to prevent them from overheating in the thin high-altitude atmosphere. After reaching a peak altitude, and slowing to just 55 knots, the airplane was pushed over into a 55° dive. Once below 55,000 feet (16,764 meters) the engines would be restarted and the Streak Eagle returned to land at Grand Forks.
  20. Same here, although I'm just flying the A-10C. Once, the heat blur was missing. I verified it several times. Definitely no blur. The weird thing is, I saved that track and when I played it back, it HAD heat blur :) Wacky. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 22. Thank you for taking the time to write this up. I really appreciate it! I'm chompin' at the bit, so I appreciate the effort :) Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  23. Are there separate servers or torrents exclusively for NTTR? I've downloaded 2.0 and it's running fine. Now I just need the Nevada map to get flying. I was hoping NTTR would have a decent distribution setup. That 2 Gig portion of the 2.0 update was brutal :) Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. DCS Newcomer

DCS Newcomer Welcome! I was in your position a few weeks ago. I flew the ST-25T for a week or so and then bought to A-10A (because I couldn't afford the A-10C just yet). I started reading the official ED manuals and user generated docs, and watching YouTube tutorials. Lots of good stuff out there! Deep [emoji16] I also read the forums every day. The community here is a *very* valuable resource. Amazing. So my daughter asked me about Christmas and I told her about the A-10C. She transferred the money to me so now I have the much more complex aircraft to work with. I'm only using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and a Logitech D13 game board, but I'm making do for now. Up next in the gear pipeline, the Track IR 5 Pro bundle and the NTTR map. It's a GREAT time to be a combat simmer[emoji16] Truly amazing what ED has created for us. I'm running DCS World 1.5 Open Beta and having a blast! VIVA Eagle Dynamics!!!!!![emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.
