Man, that sounds like a fun run. I don't have NTTR yet, but I'll try out your mission as soon as I get it. Thank you! Mike -
ILS Landings: Glide Slope and Middle Marker Beacon
Mike77 replied to Aeger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thank you for the explanation. I love this stuff! Am I correct in thinking that this lines up with the statement from the book "Stick And Rudder": use Power for altitude... Pitch for speed. I'm just not sure if staying on the glide slope requires a variation of this... embarrassing, but I just can't get my head wrapped around it. Thanks again! Mike -
AntiAliasing in DCS 1.5 and 2.0
Mike77 replied to YoYo's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank you for the tips YoYo! Greatly appreciated. I'm going to try them out later today. When you say to delete shadows on trees, do you mean by using Mustang's "no forest tree shadows" mod? I have not installed that yet, but I think it only changes the forest areas not not trees around villages, etc. which is really great. Thanks again! Mike -
Sweet! Thank you for the tip. I appreciate it!

Welcome to the Forums! I'm new to DCS World and the A-10C too. So much to learn[emoji16]. Amazing sim and a great community here too. In my spare time, if I'm not flying the sim, I'm reading through the forums. I get most of my questions answered here (versus other forums or reading through heavy documents). I use the search function a WHOLE LOT. I prefer doing that because I find some really detailed, accurate explanations to some things that the manual doesn't explain deeply enough. Or, I get answers from several different viewpoints as well as links to YouTube videos and other reference materials. So valuable. I do have the manuals handy, and use them if needed, but I just love doing forum searches and following the links if there are any. Great stuff. If I do some forum searches and can't find an answer, I'll do searches of the PDF manual that I affectionally call "The Beast"[emoji16]. If that fails, then I'll start a new thread or add my question into the flow of an existing thread. That's just my flow; thought it might be helpful for others that are getting started. It was the only way I could deal with the "information overload" and the steep learning curve. The folks who contribute here made it possible for me to progress at a decent pace. I was so thrilled the first time I fired a Maverick and destroyed the target[emoji16]. A huge THANK YOU to all of you who make the Forums a fantastic resource and a great place to hang out! Mike

Sorry if I've missed something extremely obvious, but what is "the sock"?[emoji16]

i'am new & can't play . If you have the space on your PC, leave 2.0 Alpha on there for now. When you download 1.5, the installer will copy over some elements from the 2.0 install that you already have on your PC, saving download time. You definitely need to be running 1.5 version to use the free planes and terrain. Hope that helps!

I would like to know this as well. I'll be purchasing a headset soon.

Nice work! I'm new to DCS and wouldn't even knew where to start[emoji4]. Great that you are experiencing and working on improvements. Very cool.

I'm curious about this as well.

Wow, what an awesome invite! I would *definitely* be interested but I'm totally bogged down right now. Hopefully I'll get clear of my pesky responsibilities and be able to get into a "deep dive" of the systems soon. Thank you very much for the offer! I was doing searches about this same topic and found this thread. I'm on the latest version of 1.5.2, wondering if this should be doable. Note: I'm a DCS rookie, and am just starting to get into the ME. So I'm just poking around trying new stuff. My thought was to get a Predator over the target rich area that I created and see if I could get any response from it at all. Your idea to get it to paint a target is more advanced for me, but when I saw it, it REALLY made the searches worth while. The A-10C is amazing; absolutely stunning. But without the support from the forums here, I don't think I would progress very far. The forums, and the folks who contribute, are so vital. A huge THANK YOU for all of you who make this such a valuable place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. DAMN!!! That is ridiculous... your Tacview data really tells the story. Is there a way to submit your findings to ED? Sure seems to be a serious problem! I'm a rookie but from what I've seen, a post like yours with solid findings in a thread like this isn't enough for ED to take notice. Or they do take notice and just don't post a reply to acknowledge it. I just don't know much about the process. Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. CCIP questions hhatch- I'm new to DCS and dealing with similar issues as you. But, you are ahead of me on the learning curve so I'm learning a lot in this thread. Just thought I’d mention this in case it would be beneficial to you: In order to make finding targets easier, I made a *very* simple "mission". I'm away from my PC or I would post it here. There is a “flat” island on the coast, real close to Poti. It really stands out; very easy to see. So I put large trucks and some static helicopters on the Northern most point of the island. Takes finding the targets out of the equation while I'm learning the basics of deploying weapons. I also put a couple of stationary, large cargo ships just off the coast, right next to the cluster of land based targets. Of course, none of the targets I'm placing can shoot back. Takes the pressure off so I can concentrate on learning the basics that I'm focused on. Since there's nothing else on the island, the targets stand out. Sitting ducks would be putting it very mildly:) From a long way out, I’ll target the huge cargo ships (usually with a Maverick). Then, as I get closer, switch to another weapon type and go for the smaller targets up at the North tip of the island. Sometimes, I can hit 2 targets on 1 pass. I haven't even tried rolling-in on a target yet, but I think the island would be a good place to practice those maneuvers. Flying North, to the East of the island, I can visualize putting the island at 9 o'clock and rolling to the left. The visual cues would be pretty clear, mainly the transition from water to land. And the other sides bounded by water. I'll be trying this real soon[emoji4] Just a thought. Mike

Very cool that you are doing this! I'll pick number 77. Right now, I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with the A10-C. Definitely need a better setup[emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.
