  1. Tracking a real A-10C to it's airbase FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY!!! I don't even know where to start :) Well, I guess I'll start by saying I'm jealous :) Gotta run for now... 2. Nice place to be! I've been to a few air shows at Pax River. I bet you see a lot of cool stuff down there! I live 15 minutes from Martin State airport. I see A-10s a lot, like when I'm running errands. They fly over my house occasionally. So I thought I had it made, but I think you've got me beat with Pax :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 3. Since there are some "locals" in this thread, here's a link to an article about pilots from the MD National Guard, in a combat environment: http://www.stripes.com/news/special-reports/heroes/heroes-2014/we-ve-got-to-wait-for-this-weather-to-pass-1.288198 Snippet: The challenges encountered by the two Maryland Air National Guard A-10C Thunderbolt II pilots on June 28, 2012, in eastern Afghanistan kept piling up: thunderstorms, poor visibility in high terrain, troops pinned down and under fire, shaky ground communications, low fuel. But Cisneros and Zurkowski would play a critical role in keeping alive 90 coalition troops ambushed in a river valley. The weather forecast had been favorable, but thunderstorms moved in and visibility fell to near zero in a mountainous valley near the Pakistan border. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 5. That is cool! Good catch :) I live close to Martin State airport too. I really like watching the A-10s; I get by there as often as I can. It's cool that the DCS A-10A and A-10C both have paint schemes for the Maryland Air National Guard :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 6. Awesome! I like the first one better, but you did a great job on both. Well done! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.

  8. Convert Su-25T mission to use with A-10A? Another thought... This is a little more advanced, but I wonder if I could add some non-Georgian targets out there on the island. So I won't have to attack friendlies. It's really just target practice so it's no big deal. Just gives me another goal for learning the mission editor. Obviously, I'm brand new at this and have SO MUCH to learn. I'll be getting the A-10C soon and things will really get crazy[emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 9. Thank you very much! I will give it a try and report back. Rep on the way when I get to my PC (I'm on my phone right now). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  10. There is an Instant Action mission for the SU-25T that I would like to convert to use with the A-10A that I recently bought. The mission name is "Target Practice", but I guess it would apply to the others in the Instant Action menu. I'm running DCS World 1.5 Open Beta. Is there a way to import it into the Mission Editor and change the aircraft type, but keep the rest of the mission the same? I'll need details on how to do it, so please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, Mike
  11. Thank you to all who replied to my question. Rep has been submitted :) I'm really impressed with DCS World and the folks here on the forums too. It's so helpful to get input from people in the know. What a valuable resource for a new guy like me. I often bookmark threads that are way over my head now, and will revisit them when I've learned enough to put it to use. Good stuff. Also, to the OP, Tyler. I appreciate that you ask the questions you do. I read through the forums and quite often find threads that are right on target for things I need to learn. Helps me out a lot. Thanks again! 12. Would you please explain that, or point me in the right direction to learn about it. Sounds very interesting! Thanks in advance, Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  13. Thank you! I had the HTML file but hadn't thought about pasting it into a spreadsheet file. That definitely helps me out. I'm amazed at how some simple solutions get right past me :) I think that the OP still has a valid concern, and I didn't want to hijack his thread. Sorry for the divert! 14. I just got the A-10A (edit: and now have the A-10C) and am getting started with it. Basic stuff, single player missions, or just flying around to learn the commands. Having a blast! I have been able to change the paint scheme to the Baltimore Air National Guard livery, but I have to set it for every flying session. Is there a way to set that paint scheme as a default so it always starts a session that way? For example, when I use the "Instant Action" feature. Maybe using notepad++ to edit a lua file? I live close to the Baltimore ANG base and see them fly often. Definitely want to use that paint scheme every time I fly [emoji4] Thanks for any info that you can provide! 15. Yes, I definitely see what you mean. It would be great to have a spreadsheet with all the commands and categories. To sort different ways and edit it. There are a bunch of the commands I don't need now since I'm just getting started with DSC World (with the A-10A). So I'm making my own listing with the commands I really need to memorize. It's sort of pain though. Hoping other users will reply and shed some light on this... Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 16. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but... In the screen where key bindings are assigned, there is an "HTML" button. I used that to print a list of all the key assignments. Sorry if that isn't a useful answer. I'm new to DCS World and just wanted to contribute something if I can. Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 17. Thank you for asking this question dresoccer4. I'm interested in this also. Thanks again, Mike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  18. Thank you for the replies. Sorry I didn't specify... I was thinking of fixed wing. I've never tried a helicopter, I've got my hands full with fixed wing aircraft! 19. jcomm- I had seen other posts of yours here on the ED forums and wondered if you were the same jcomm from the Xplane forums :) I just recently got into DCS World with 1.5 Open Beta. It's the only other flight sim I've tried besides X-Plane. I agreed with your comments, and I'm just using the free SU-25T! I am *really* impressed. As soon as possible, I'll be getting the A-10C and more to follow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 20. I’m new to DCS World and have a few questions. I’m running DCSW 1.5 Open Beta. Is wake turbulence modeled? Just wondering if, for example, a plane is refueling and gets out of position, will it get into wake turbulence from the tanker? Or if formation flying. Also wondering if ground effect is modeled? How about turbulence caused by terrain (i.e.: wind shadow or a rotor downwind of a mountain). I'm just curious really. Regardless of the answers, I am very impressed with what I’ve seen so far. Really amazed at the accuracy and depth that has been created. Definitely have my hands full for a long time :) *** I didn't see a place in the DCSW 1.5 Open Beta forums to post a general question so please point me in the right direction if I've overlooked it. Thanks in advance, Mike
  21. I agree and voted for the Su-25/Su-25T.
  22. Sincerely, with all due respect : I'm *brand new* to Eagle Dynamics (first exposure was to DCS World 1.5 Open Beta) and just curious... why it's not realistic. I'm into the Western aircraft anyway, so I wouldn't benefit if they did created it. I'm really an A-10C, F15, F18 kinda guy :) Please note: I don't want to be abrasive, just trying to understand the background/culture at Eagle Dynamics. I really appreciate the **outstanding** quality and depth of what I've seen in the short amount of time I've been involved. Absolutely stunning. I definitely want to be in it for the long haul and appreciate opinions and thoughts from all forum members on this subject. Or links to threads that may help me understand. I guess I could start a new thread on this general topic... with "background and ED culture" in the title. Might do that if it makes sense (if there aren't any responses here). Thank you in advance! 23. I have a related question... sort of. If a manual is for the Steam version, are there any differences in controls or systems. In context, I have the stand alone version of DCS World 1.5 Open Beta. Can I use a Steam manual? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. 24. This is something I'd like to know too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. System specs: Windows 7 Pro, EVGA X58 3x classified 3 MOBO, i7 960 @3.2Ghz, 24Gb Ram, Nvidia EVGA GTX 780ti with 3 Gb VRAM.
  25. Found it! I used the technique that Ultra suggested in post #2 above. By using the F11 camera and mousing around a bunch, I found two of the "cooling towers" that I was looking for. I'll try to attach pics here. To recap, I had seen one of these cooling towers out of the corner of my eye as it flashed by during a high speed pass :) When I thought about it later, I had no idea where I had been as I am brand new to the sim. I went back and viewed some of the tracks I had saved but no luck. So I started this thread. Thanks again Ultra!
