  1. I boosted the star light and size but I haven't noticed them that visible during the day in any of my testing. What was the date/time when you took that screenshot. What is your screen resolution?
  2. How did you install the update? If you're using a mod manager, and uninstalled 1.8 then it should work. If you just copied it over that won't work. There's folder/file in the mod that need to be removed. \Bazar\shaders\common\samplers11.hlsl needs to be removed.
  3. ***If you downloaded 1.8 on August 12-14th, download again for the hotfix. There was a bug causing long loading times. Also recommended to clear your shader cache Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 folders. 8/14/2025 - *HOTFIX* Updated to version 1.8.1 - Fixed excessive shader cache generation and long load times.
  4. I found the issue. I'll release a fix tomorrow. If you're having issues with it roll back to v1.7 for now. On my machine it takes about 60 seconds to start. Try clearing out your shader cache in Saved Games\DCS\fxo and \metashaders2. That first run after clearing your shader will take a little longer but it should be good after that. Let me know if it's still a problem.
  5. 8/12/2025 - Updated to version 1.8 ** Continued work the improve the cirrus cloud texture and shader - New and improved cirrus cloud textures - Cirrus clouds now change float direction over time - New beautiful seamless transitions between different sets of cirrus clouds - Cirrus looks better at all distances - Boosted star light for better night sky https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335023/
  6. Yes, you don't need to do anything. During a mission you can see up to 8 different variations of cirrus. They change every 10 minutes. There are a total of 16 unique cirrus cloud types now.
  7. Unfortunately you can't set these via preset and it's not possible for me to do that without access to game engine code. The cirrus are generated randomly by a shader. I'm working on yet another visual improvement to the cirrus layer in the next update.
  8. YES it is the correct version. Sorry, forgot to rename the folder before zipping it up.
  9. Hi all, Completed my 3000 mile move and got my sim rig back in business. Time for some updates! 7/1/2025 - Updated to version 17 -NEW: Modded cirrus shader to use a texture array. This increased the number of unique cirrus cloud types from 4 to 16. You will notice many new variations of cirrus while flying your missions now. All cirrus textures were created by me from hi resolution photos of real cirrus clouds. -Tweaked several cloud presets, improving the look of Low level stratus, Altostratus and Altocumulus cloud presets - Included 4 new presets for heavy broken cumulus clouds. These are the Scattered Showers presets with no rain.
  10. This would be easy enough to add. I was working on a pretty substantial update but I'm in the process of moving right now so it's going to be a delayed for a month or so.
  11. Thank you, I appreciate that! I certainly wouldn't mind if ED added it the base game so I don't have to update it after every DCS update The mod itself doesn't change anything with the way weather is rendered, other than adding some higher resolution textures into the cirrus shader. In my experience, clouds by themselves don't impact performance much. It's the rain, mist and fog that do.
  12. That's what I do. I suspect some people want to keep it zipped and load it that way.
  13. Good suggestion. I'll try to remember that in the next update.
  14. Happy Friday everyone! Sorry for the long delay in getting an update out. Busy with life lately In this update I achieved something I've been wanting to do for long time. I modified the cirrus shader so the cirrus clouds should now look much more natural and instead of covering the entire sky over the map they will appear in random patches. I think this looks much better. I hope everyone agrees! 3/28/2025 - Updated to version 16 -Updated files for compatibility with DCS version DCS 2.9.14.8394 -Updated cirrus shader for a much more natural random look. Cirrus clouds will no longer cover the entire sky over the map and will appear in random patches. -Changed cirrus cloud fade interval to 30 minutes. The cirrus layer will fade in/out over a 30 minute period. Previously this was set very high to 24 hours so the cirrus clouds were basically static. -Added [Bandit648] tag to Scattered Thunderstorms 1 and Scattered Thunderstorms 2 cloud presets. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335023/
  15. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll fix it in the next update.
  16. None of the files in the mod were modified in the latest DCS update. V15 should work fine.
  17. It's a heavy hit in VR. I generally don't go over high view distance un-modded in VR. It doesn't matter as much since visuals aren't nearly as clear as they are on a 4K display.
  18. I just re-tested and it looks to be fixed. Sorry, I hadn't checked it since a few updates ago. I've used this workaround for view distance for many years. The sim looks incredible at 4.0 distanceFactor. This really needs to be implemented as the current view distance settings are outdated. I'd also like to see the grass/ground clutter view distance increased. So far, I haven't found any way to do that with editing the config files.
  19. Yes I'm aware of the terrainoptions41.lua edit but that doesn't fix this issue.
  20. I love this idea but increasing the distanceFactor beyond 2.0 results in terrain object artifacts on some maps. I've noticed the issue on both the Sinai map around Cairo and Normandy in the London area. It appears to affect certain types of buildings in these areas that causes them start glitching. Some sort of LOD issue perhaps. I haven't tested all maps but Syria and Caucasus seems to be unaffected by it.
  21. I just tested this. I set fog to manual with low visibility settings and then run the mission. I see thick fog as expected. Then I set the fog to off and re-run the mission and the fog is gone as expected. I'm not sure what you're trying to do or what the problem is?
  22. You would have to edit the clouds.lua file. Find "precipitationPower" for the preset you want to change. Change it to this for no precip: precipitationPower = -1.00
  23. You can't have layers of fog. The fog settings are Visibility (how far you can see) and Thickness (how high the fog extends from sea level). To have the fog change from thick to clear during a mission, you need to set the fog to manual and then set the fog keys as desired. Setting the fog to 0 visibility and 0 thickness will clear it out completely. I tested with the setting seen below and it works fine.
  24. I created the weather mod and the modded files don't touch anything that would affect wind. In fact, I couldn't even find any way to change the behavior of the wind in the game even if I wanted to. What are the weather settings for the problematic mission?
  25. The weather mod does not change anything in relation to the wind.
