  1. I'll add that low level stratus 4 preset back in and post an update. If you want to re-enable the default cirrus disable the mod in OVGME and delete the "enlight" folder in \Bazar\shaders in the mod path. Then re-enable. If not using OVGME restore \Bazar\shaders\enlight\cirrus.fx to its original. I originally tried to mod the default cirrus and improve the low res textures used. The problem is that I can't figure out any way to change the fade in/fade out behavior. I think it may be hard coded in the weather.dll as nothing I've tried in the cirrus.fx file seems to change it. I opted to try using the volumetric clouds for the cirrus layer in this update.
  2. Mod updated to version 3 on user files. Please update as this version has some important additions and fixes. Feedback welcomed. Here are some screenshots from Version 3:
  3. I just updated the mod to version 3 on user files. It now has a total of 23 new weather presets. I added sample thumbnail images for each preset in this new version that were taken in game from each cloud type. In general the new presets include these different cloud/weather types: Scattered showers Overcast with rain Scattered Cumulus Low level stratus Altostratus (mid level stratus) High Level Cirrus clouds Two ways to do that. You can use the Fog setting from the weather panel and adjust visibility and thickness accordingly. This gives a uniform fog or haze that covers the entire map. Another way is to choose one of the Low level stratus cloud presets and set the base altitude very low. Anywhere between 0 and 2000ft but depends on the elevation of your ground units are. Stratus clouds are basically fog when at low altitude so this is more realistic.
  4. First post updated for version 2.
  5. Same thing was happening to me. I was running version 1.20 of the MIG-29MU2 mod. I updated it to version 1.40 and problem solved. Boats and many ground units were not spawning.
  6. I accidently left a few edits in on the default weather presets. That Hornet free flight mission was using "Broken 2" preset and I had edited that preset to add some light rain while testing. I'll post an update to clean that up. Unfortunately, rain and heavy clouds has a performance hit whether its my mod or a default preset. If you're flying in VR and need FPS its best to keep light clouds and no precip.
  7. Did you modify the weather for that mission to use one of my presets? If not my mod isn't doing anything to affect performance. Heavy weather settings will always cost some performance unfortunately. I think Syria has seen some reduced performance since the last update or two. I've noticed it especially when on the Supercarrier.
  8. Funny story, I started working on this a year ago and then gave up since I figured ED would be releasing a weather update soon anyway. Since it now appears weather is on back burner for some time I decided to finish and release the mod. It would have taken one of the ED developers a few hours maybe to give us some new presets and options. I still can't believe they simply didn't release any new presets after the moving clouds update. They even showed a bunch of videos of isolated storms but then didn't give us any new presets.
  9. I just tested and can't reproduce that issue. Installation issue? What happens if you try a new mission apply the preset?
  10. I don't play multiplayer so haven't tested that. Let us know the results. The mod does not pass IC.
  11. This is in the vicinity of Tbilisi. You will have to set the cloud settings accordingly based on the terrain elevation.
  12. You can't really set fog to localized areas. But, you can experiment with the thickness and visibility settings of fog to get the look you want. Another option is to use a scattered cloud density setting like 3 - 6. Then set the base altitude very low and make the thickness very thin. This creates patchy fog effect that's not bad.
  13. Howdy folks, I created a new weather mod to give us a little more variety in what we have currently. Hopefully you enjoy this while we wait for ED to give us a proper update to the weather system. This Weather mod includes the following features: 38 new weather presets for scattered showers, overcast/rain, stratus clouds, cumulus clouds, altostratus and altocumulus clouds. Cloud base altitude and thickness limits increased for all presets Fog visibility and thickness limits increased so you can create hazy atmosphere affects Six new density settings tweaked for scattered and isolated thunderstorms Rain and Thunderstorms precipitation now available for all cloud density settings Installation: Recommended: Use OvGME or other mod manager and install to DCS root directory. Make a backup if installing manually! To create thunderstorms: 1.) Select NOTHING from the Clouds Preset menu 2.) Configure the base altitude as desired 3.) Adjust the thickness to something between 15000-30000ft 4.) You can choose any density setting but I added six new ones. Density 11 - 16 are tweaked for thunderstorms 5.) Choose Thunderstorm or Rain from the Precptns option 6.) I recommend adding a lot of wind and turbulence as well 7.) Experiment with settings to get the look you want and enjoy! Download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335023/ 3/28/2025 - Updated to version 16 -Updated files for compatibility with DCS version DCS 2.9.14.8394 -Updated cirrus shader for a much more natural random look. Cirrus clouds will no longer cover the entire sky over the map and will appear in random patches. -Changed cirrus cloud fade interval to 30 minutes. The cirrus layer will fade in/out over a 30 minute period. Previously this was set very high to 24 hours so the cirrus clouds were basically static. -Added [Bandit648] tag to Scattered Thunderstorms 1 and Scattered Thunderstorms 2 cloud presets. 12/24/2024 - Updated to version 15 -Updated files for compatibilty wit DCS version 2.9.11.4686 12/17/2024 - Updated to version 14 -Added new cirrus cloud texture -Added two new cloud presets for Scattered Thunderstorms *note: thunder and lightning are not currently working on these presets -Updated METAR codes for all of the mod cloud presets 12/04/2024 - Updated to version 13 -Updated for compatibility with DCS 2.9.10.3948 10/30/2024 - Updated to version 12 -Minor update of files for compatibility with DCS 2.9.9.2280 10/11/2024 - Updated to version 11 - Updated cloud preset thumbnails. The Mod thumbnails are now outlined in yellow for better visibility. Thanks to forum user ggrewe for help with this. - Fixed issue with cloud presets being out of order 7/11/2024 - Updated to version 10 - Updated for DCS 2.9.6 compatibility. - Cirrus cloud textures updated 6/17/2024 - Update to version 9 - New cirrus cloud textures added! 5/23/2024 - Update to version 8 - compatibility for latest DCS version 2.9.5.55300 - updated cirrus layer 2/24/2024 - Update to version 7 - NEW cirrus cloud textures - Cirrus clouds now move and can be seen moving - Cirrus clouds don't fade in and out any longer. They don't change for 24 hours - Tuning and tweaks to several presets - Updated config files for compatibility with DCS 2.9.3.51704 **The cirrus cloud behavior and appearance are drastically changed in this update. There are 4 cirrus cloud textures and they usually are blended with each other, creating a variety of different looking skies. After loading a mission, if you want to change the look of the cirrus clouds simply re-load the mission by pressing SHIFT-R. Sometimes changing the date and/or time in the mission editor changes up the cirrus also. If you want to turn off cirrus clouds completely you can edit \Bazar\shaders\enlight\cirrus.fx in the MOD folder. Change line 36 in that file to: static const float cirrusThickness = 0; Make sure to disable/re-enable the mod in OVGME after making the change. If you think the new cirrus sucks and you want to go back to default delete the following files from the MOD folder and disable/re-enable in OVGME: \Bazar\shaders\enlight\cirrus.fx \Bazar\Effects\EffectTextures.zip Enjoy! 1/27/2024 - Updated to version 6 - Fixed small issues in several presets - Reworked "Scattered Showers 5" preset. Looks much better now - Minor adjustments to "Low Level Stratus 5" and "Nimbostratus with heavy rain". Clouds have a slightly softer look now. 1/24/2024 - Updated to version 5 - High level cirro clouds are back with cirrostratus and cirrocumulus presets! - 10 new cloud presets added - Many tweaks and adjustments to existing presets 1/11/2024 - Updated to version 4 - 2 new stratus cloud presets added - 3 new altostratus cloud presets added - 3 new altocumulus clouds presets added - Re-enabled default cirrus layer and lowered opacity. 1/9/2024 - Weather mod v3 update changes: - 5 new presets added - 2 new cloud types, cirrus and altostratus - Improved stratus cloud presets - Added preview thumbnails for all weather mod presets - Disabled default cirrus layer - Adjusted base altitude settings for all mod presets 1/6/2024 - Weather mod v2 update changes: -Reverted "Broken 2" preset back to default setting -Added 13 new presets! New presets include new overcast/rainy, scattered cumulus and low level stratus clouds. Make sure to adjust your cloud base height as needed with the new presets. The Scattered cumulus look best at low to mid level (2000 - 15000ft). Their base height dramatically changes the look. Status should be se t with base height very low (0 - 3000ft).
  14. I was hoping this would get fixed in the latest patch as its kind of a big problem. @Flappie has this issue been reported yet?
  15. Thank you for posting this. I had done testing with 2.7.18 vs 2.8.0 and saw similar results. Below is one of my test runs from PG with clear weather. People really need to do an actual benchmark test before claiming performance is better/worse/same. In 2.8 it's certainly worse and not related to VR. Windows 11 22H2 (latest updates), Nvidia Driver 516.94, I9-10900K, 64G RAM, RTX 3090 30-10-2022, 12:06:21 DCS.exe benchmark completed, 6735 frames rendered in 89.234 s (Open Beta 2.8.0) Average framerate : 75.4 FPS Minimum framerate : 62.4 FPS Maximum framerate : 92.1 FPS 1% low framerate : 62.7 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 61.7 FPS 30-10-2022, 12:09:50 DCS.exe benchmark completed, 7888 frames rendered in 92.141 s (Stable 2.7.18) Average framerate : 85.6 FPS Minimum framerate : 69.7 FPS Maximum framerate : 105.4 FPS 1% low framerate : 70.1 FPS 0.1% low framerate : 68.8 FPS
  16. I noticed this as well. I also run a 4k display and normally have my MSAA set to 4x. Last night I was testing performance and set it down to 2x and it looked awful. Something's up with Anti Aliasing. 16x is your Anisotropic Filtering settings. What is your Antialiasing setting in game?
  17. I spent a few hours yesterday testing performance and I'm seeing a 8-10 fps average framerate loss between 2.7.18 and 2.8.0 on the benchmark tracks I've run. This is on Windows 11 22H2 with latest updates running a 3090 @ 4k resolution. I also tried nvidia drivers 516.94 and 526.47 early on when I was trying to nail down the culprit. The performance hit is NOT related only to VR. I still get a heavy FPS hit in and around rain clouds as well. I'm happy to provide benchmark results and tracks to help if needed.
  18. No crashes but I was experiencing stuttering (frametime spikes) after installing 522.25. Rolled back to 516.94 and problem is gone. Anyone else seeing poor performance/stutter with 522.25? Win11 22H2 and RTX3090 here.
  19. All of the long range missile variants are exploding shortly after launch for me. Is this happening to anyone else? I attached a trk file showing the problem with SA-23 firing the 9A82 at some B-52s. SA-23-TEST.trk
  20. When you try to start DCS NAV make sure you don't have DCS UFC running in the background or it will crash. You have to CLOSE or EXIT the app, not just minimize it. The two can't be running at the same time.
  21. @BIGNEWY We need the hi-res option for this map!
  22. Thanks for the response and congrats on the release. I think you guys can make this the top map in DCS with some time. It has huge potential. Can you comment on if you are considering releasing a larger size map (in terms of storage space) with higher res imagery? I noticed its almost the same size as Syria on disk. Is there some sort of hard size limit in DCS?
  23. Agree with everything being said here. It's certainly not worth $55 in its current state. I was hoping for higher resolution terrain mesh and textures then what we got. Whats up with the area around Ushuaia? You'd think that'd be a place to really focus on by the developers at release since its one of the most scenic locations but the mountain textures and mesh is very low quality. I hope they aren't holding back the higher res imagery due to people whining about disk space. I don't care if its 500 GB I'll find the space for it. This region is gorgeous and deserves better. Hopefully my money was well spent and Raz is hard at work making improvements.
  24. I feel like DCS has been over saturated in general since a few updates ago. I use reshade tonemap shader to adjust the saturation down.
