New move in favor Aim-120? No R-27ER LA while they have it?
BlackPixxel replied to pepin1234's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
The datalink is transmitting both discrete corrections on the positions (delta L), as well as the rate of change of the position (delta i, which is the same as the velocity vector). The missile uses a stabilized coordinate system. It uses gyros and accelerometers to track its own position. Angular coordinates may only be used when the range to target is so close that datalink is not used, just a one time command instead. The description from the chief designer himself said it changes coefficients depending on flight time, altitute and speed. And you just say that is wrong. -
New move in favor Aim-120? No R-27ER LA while they have it?

A missile does not need a digital computer to not be completely dumb. Just look at the datalink. The R-27 receives updates on the targets coordinates in 3D space as well as its velocity vector. Not bad for a missile without a brain. Or this: "To adapt to a wide range of flight conditions, a nonlinear law of missile control surfaces manipulation is used to change coefficients depending on the flight time, altitude, and speed;" "In some cases, corrections are introduced into the guidance law applicable to the radar-guided missiles to optimize their flight trajectories for best performance of the radar homing head and proximity fuse. For example, to avoid a stream of clutter by taking the missile out of the aircraft radar's primary beam or provide for a diving attack on the target at a preset angle." Also the missile changes its lockon ranges depending on flight altitute and target aspect. It also gets a special command when the time to target is about or less than the burntime of the motor, very likely to change its coefficients for close combat maneuverability. So R-27 obviously adjusts its flight behaviour depending on the situation. Good read, unofficial but plausible: https://www.mycity-military.com/Avioni/MiG-29-Fulcrum_2545.html#p2092008 -

Our prayers have been heard! Thank you! -
MiG-29 manual: R-27P/EP can also be used like a heat seeking missile from Phi-0 mode, it is recommended to turn radar off when using this mode to give the seeker a clear picture:
-
This touchdown is fake, not enough bouncing!
-
Wrong, the missile is part of some manuals. For example it can be used in Phi-0 boresight mode. It is recommended to turn the own radar off to give the missile a clearer picture. It will then behave like a heater fired form Phi-0, it will get a launch authorisation when it finds a radar source.
-
Maybe this value is the delay for the safety maneuver, where the missile will just fly straight without guiding to not hit the carrier.
-
Yes, adjusting the drag when turning and the turn rate until CFD is done would help alot. It will take many months or even years until we see the R-27 rework. Flanker and Fulcrum pilots should not have to fly with such a disadvantage over such a long period of time. We are sick of this! Eagle Dynamics = America first

[REPORTED]R-27ER goes for chaff when lock is lost
BlackPixxel replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Weapon Bugs
Yes, Aim-7 has the same bug. BUT: You will not encounter it unless you unlock the target and try to relock it. The chaff bug will happen in the Flanker for almost every shot, because of the IRST. Whenever the target is notching, the radar is not in memory mode, but switches of competely while IRST is taking over. At this moment the bug will happen and the missile is trashed. So whenever the target changes aspect, the missile of the Flanker is trashed. US fighters have no IRST, their radar stays in memory mode and then continues tracking when the target changed aspect, which means that the bug will not appear. -
Just make a mission where you get engaged by an Aim-120 and flare once you get the launch warning. Then you will see on tacview that the Aim-120 maneuvers way before you deploy the flare. There is certainly a RWR-delay.

Maybe the MiG-23 release will force ED to do something. R-24R outperforming R-27R will be interesting...

[REPORTED]R-27ER goes for chaff when lock is lost
BlackPixxel replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Weapon Bugs
Bug is still present (although it appears to happen less frequent under some cases), here are some trackfiles from today. chaffbug2.trk chaffbug.trk -
Another patch, and guess what: SARH missiles are still boken. What a suprise! Who could have expected that?
-
ECM and IFF are of course extremely simplified, but something to consider with ECM & IFF is that IFF is usually a different, much lower frequency (at least the one found on Su-27 and MiG-29) than air to air radars, so ECM designed to jam X-Band radars may not affect it.

SPO-15 RWR showing wrong signal strength in multiplayer
BlackPixxel replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
Nice information! So this instrument here could actually be part of that Freon RWR and not of the L-150? -
SPO-15 RWR showing wrong signal strength in multiplayer
BlackPixxel replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
On the cockpit pictures the space for the SPO-15 instrument is covered by a blank panel, except for one picture where it shows a different instrument (L-150?) But still the Su-33 had the radomes in the leading edges and in the stinger for the L-150 antennas. Maybe the instrument was just removed when showing the cockpit to the public? -
The Aim-120 correctly gives a launch warning once it is active. But when it is launched from STT lock then there will not be a launch warning from the launch platform until the missile goes active. Will we get a fix for SARH missiles this year? It is not nice having to wait for a month for the next update just to be dissapointed again and again and again.

I see that the tracks I provided are broken, looks like there is another bug that prevents multiplayer tracks from being recorded properly. Nice! -
SPO-15 RWR showing wrong signal strength in multiplayer
BlackPixxel replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
Then they can at least fix it on Su-27, J-11, MiG-29, Su-25, Su-25T and upgrade our Su-33 to L-150 and SVP-24 :) -
SPO-15 RWR showing wrong signal strength in multiplayer
BlackPixxel replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
Can this issue be looked at please? It is unrealistic and affecting gameplay. With the reduced update rates and the general lack of updates I am afraid that I will have to wait a year until I can fly the Flanker again. -

Aim-120 no longer give a launch warning when fired from STT. Is this intentional (I have not seen it in a changelog)?
