Purdy! This will be an interesting little plane to fly, especially once the DCS WWII bomber set and assets are more complete. Will have plenty of unique quirks that other jets/planes don't have have in DCS. -
** UPDATE: F-14 Flight Model - Episode I - "The Basics" **
Medic8ed replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Man this will be a great addition to DCS! Can't wait to fly this sucker for hours. Reading the manual will probably take a while, I'm sure there is a ton of stuff to learn to both pilot and RIO it effectively. Can't wait for more videos! -
Pardon my ignorance, but how exactly does that work? I'm just curious since I know next to nothing about the systems in the F/A-18C. Is it vaguely similar to the system on the F-14 that will show a picture of your target, or is it much more detailed than that? Thanks in advance for any info or a good source to peruse!

Lol Mirknir! Though sadly that's not too far from what I see in chat while flying.... I like the variety of weather that you put together for us to enjoy. The high wing makes landing while damaged particularly interesting! I would say my favorite weather is morning with fog - it just looks great! Can't wait for 2.5 with the updated Caucasus map and new lighting then it will look really fantastic! Either way, keep up the good work. Your server is by far my favorite one to fly!

If I look out the cockpit and zoom to see that detail, I think I will poo my pants... Good work guys, can't wait to see this beautiful bird and its assets come together!

The main thing keeping me off the servers is the fact that the ambience of a WWII fight is not there yet. It's a fun map to fly over and looks amazing, but I want more than just dogfighting. Once more of the asset pack is introduced (working AAA, German bombers, more ground objects) and the damage model is improved (both player and AI), I will fly more because then servers can make quality missions that feel authentic and are not just airquake. I expected this since it's in alpha status, but hope it speeds along quickly!

This is exactly why so many other Devs have stopped posting WIP - there are a few bad people that ruin it for everyone. I truly hope RAZBAM doesn't stop posting WIP stuff because this is one of my most frequented sections of the forum just to see what's happening! Doesn't matter to me if the videos aren't in 4K resolution, if they show one part of the cockpit that isn't functional yet, etc, I am just happy to see progress and I watch them with the realization that there is tons of work to be done prior to any release. It would be a totally different story if they came out with a video and said "welp, we are one week away from release and here it is" but it showed tons of WIP stuff at that time. Anyways, I hope nothing changes RAZBAM! A vast majority of people love what you are doing and appreciate all your hard work!

Not available yet, but will be added in the future (I'm assuming once they have working AAA and black puffs of flak appropriately modeled with damage modeling). No one knows quite when this will be yet. Just as the map is in early alpha, so is the asset pack.

Kev2go, try putting " .\ " at the beginning of the command prompt. Worked for me in windows 10 and should look like this: .\DCS_updater.exe install NORMANDY_terrain WWII-ARMOUR This worked right away and is a 6.4 GB file. If you already tried that, then my bad, just checking all the different angles. I was getting the same error you did until I realized I needed to put the " .\ " in front of the command prompt.

Balzarog, did you try the manual way? I live in Maryland and mine started updating about 20 minutes ago. If you go to your DCS World 2.0 open alpha folder, then you push LShift + right click on the file "bin" there should be a command prompt option (or Open PowerShell window here). Click on that then type in "DCS_updater.exe update" or if your option was the PowerShell window, type ".\DCS_updater.exe update". That should kick it off. If you already are doing that and knew of the manual way, then my apologies. Hope it downloads soon for ya!

Got mine to start updating via manual update (opening command prompt method). So far only downloading at 0.5 MB/s for 14.8 GB file, then will still have to do the asset pack and Normandy.... Gonna take a while, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait!
-
Mine is still not updating yet... Must keep spamming manual update!
-
Yes, you should start downloading DCS 2.0 now, so then when you update to 2.1 it will not be as large of a file/update. If you wait for it all to be updated, it will probably be a very large file, though at this point it may be updated to 2.1 within the next hour (hopefully...).

Looks very nice Oesau! I hope there are some Mig vs Sabre Normandy servers out there after it goes live, I think it would be a fun change on things and the eye candy sure does look good!

This will be a sexy bird to learn!
