  1. Unrelated question: how did you get the green chat text in your first picture?
  2. What is your technique for staying at an appropriate AOA while turning? Are you just purely going off the buffeting cues, or glancing at the AOA meter?
  3. Of course, it is the internet :) There is some fantastic content in here though, from yourself, Victory, etc. Keep it please, for those of us who want the information and appreciate the effort!
  4. This might just be me misunderstanding how it is supposed to work, but my assumption is that I should have to hold down the trigger for the full 3 seconds to launch a phoenix or sparrow. Instead I noticed last night that even if you release the trigger before 3 seconds, the missile still launches at the 3 second mark. This is for non-ACM mode.
  5. After jester bravely ejected, I noticed his seat armer thingy was still hanging around:
  6. After playing several more nights and closely observing the F10 map (and tacview after each flight) I am convinced the issue is that I am getting other people's RWR indications. If an enemy locks or launches on another friendly, I get an RWR indication, no matter how far away I am. Does this sound like the known bug you are referring to?
  7. I have the hornet and tomcat, and this doesn't happen to me in the hornet, so I assumed it was an F-14 issue.
  8. I tried this tonight. I deleted fxo and metashaders2 folders. It made no difference.
  9. Do track IR and padlock actually work at the same time? Can you padlock something and it will ignore trackIR until you unpadlock it? I use track IR as well but aircraft just blend in to the scenery so easily that I always seems to lose sight of whatever I am turning with, even when I am looking right at it.
  10. 2nd post was meant to be a new thread, apologies.
  11. Fuel total incorrect Shortly after takeoff, I noticed the fuel total was reading 0: After refuelling at a tanker, it read 24,200: This is with no external tanks:
  12. Seen tonight on the aerobatics server: I haven't seen this before or since this flight.
  13. Thank you!
  14. Here are my normal settings: If I change MSAA to OFF I see this when flying over water: This is with a GTX1070 video card and NVIDIA 419.35 drivers.
  15. Searching the "F-14B Pilot" section for the word "smoke" didn't find anything, and scrolling through the list didn't show anything obvious.
  16. I don't believe that the radar on the SU-27/MiG-29 are powerful enough to track a tomcat from these ranges, especially not when I am on the ship:
  17. I am not sure if this is a bug or if the radar really is supposed to be this sensitive, but it picked up 2 parachutes at 30 miles for me last night: The F10 map showed nothing matching the 2 contacts in the middle of the screen: But looking at tacview later, there were 2 parachutes at that location:
  18. Here is a proposed solution: I am assuming that the position/orientation/velocity of aircraft in the game is sent around the network relative to a global origin. What is needed is to send the position/orientation/velocity relative to the ship when the plane is on board. Add one or two bytes to the network message that indicates what the data is relative to (0 = global origin as it is now, other values reference all the various ships in the world). That way, when your plane is on the ship, your client calculates your position relative to the ship's origin so you won't be sliding around anymore no matter how much the ship is moving (or how much lag there is), and the data sent to the server will be relative to the ship as well. When that message is distributed across the network, all other clients render your plane relative to the ship, not the global origin, so your plane doesn't slide on other people's clients, and vice versa. So each frame, your client will take your plane's position/orientation/velocity relative to the ship, convert it to the global origin, do the normal physics update, but then convert it back to the ship origin for the network update. With this system, the ship could be rocking 20 degrees and have a lot of network lag, and everyone will appear solid and stable on the ship's deck.
  19. As the title says, when the radio is manually tuned and showing a frequency, if I bring up the menu and talk to a talker the radio knob in the front seat changes from manual to preset and the radio display changes from showing the frequency to showing the channel number.
  20. I agree 100%, and what we have so far really is an excellent foundation, but the STT area needs a little work.

    F14 and SRS

Thank you! I have SRS working perfectly with every other aircraft for a long time now, but in the tomcat I either can't hear a human RIO, or if I turn hot mic on then I am broadcasting continuously on the last used SRS channel and I have to change the radio frequency to something dumb so that I am not spamming the whole server. I cannot tell if this is a bug or it is me. My main concern is that I don't want to have to change SRS config (2 keys configured for PTT) every time I switch planes! What would be ideal for me, is if I could map 5 actions to my throttle: 1) One button to bring up the radio menu for radio 1 2) One button to bring up the radio menu for radio 2 3) One button for Radio Select/PTT for SRS radio 1 4) One button for Radio Select/PTT for SRS radio 2 5) One button that will do ICS PTT if I have a human rio (I do NOT want a hot mic), and instead bring up the jester menu if I don't have a human rio. That was RIO is always on the same button, human or jester. 1 - 4 work in all other planes for me right now.
  22. Just to add to this, when Jester loses a STT lock, he should be automatically trying to re-establish the lock. In other words, if the pilot tells jester "go STT lock", jester should be going STT lock from that point on until being told to do something else. I find that I have to drill through the menu to BVR->STT->Enemy Ahead, then lock is lost, then drill through the menu, then lock is lost etc, etc until I give up with his shenanigans and try the ACM modes (which magically don't lose lock). Jester is a little bit lazy :)
  23. I use 3 degree of freedom head tracking and the cold start tutorial cannot be completed because of this issue.
  24. Thank you! I thought I had an issue with SRS and couldn't figure it out.
  25. Same question here. I recently replied to the email I received at the time but haven't had a response yet.
