If fc3 will be on the level of Dcs graphically and mode-wise, I would vote for fc3. Otherwise a Dcs modern jet fighter will do. Personally I prefer Su27 or F15, but I guess that's not my call.

Basically that settles my question. Thanks. My other hobby is photography, and I edit raw files fairly often. That's why I am going for 7970 rather than 680, because according to online reviews, nvidia gtx680 is lacking computing power, if I have understood that correctly. Do you think i5 will be dragging image processing time? Gaming is still the primary task of my build, though. Looking forward to mine, too!!

Which option will be optimum for ED games? People say that going higher than i5 2500K has a diminishing return, but people here also say that ED games are bottlenecked by CPU power. Mind that if i5, it will be the top of its line, and if i7, it will be the lower budget one. What's your opinions?

Only digital version is on discount... I very much prefer physical disks, which is not on sales...

Come on bro... Did you even read my post... On a side note, I am not suggesting ED to use LOFC as the basis for future development. I totally understand the license issue with ubi.

You are not getting my point here. I am not saying that all planes must be built to the same level of complexity at the same time, in one release. My suggestion is to build something like LOFC, with all planes included, but by default are either AI-control only, or built on a simple flight model. ED has done a great job in the Lock on series. This will serve as a platform, for which advanced flight model will be built next for each and every aircraft included, as installable expansion/upgrade module. This is similar to what ED has been doing with DCS series.

Having multiple planes in a single game does not necessarily make the game a 'survey' sim. Each plane/module can be as detailed as the developers want it to be. I don't see any limiting factor here.

For as long as ED do not allow modifying aerodynamic and electronic system models of built in jets, mods are just a way of cheating ourselves...

Pray for this feature in FC3 is all that you can do.

Which is better for lo/Dcs series? 7970 or 680? Usually there is a clear winner for a particular game. But I can't find the corresponding info... Can any of you who can have hands on both help? A simple test will answer the question. Thank you!

From the official Future Projects road map: 4- The first "DCS Flying Legends" aircraft will be released in the first half of 2012. Does that mean items 1,2,3 will come before this flying legend aircraft? Quite unlikely in my opinion...

We'll see that happen hopefully in 2012?

I had the same problem some time ago. As a complete newbie, I was playing FC1. I couldn't land because my Su27 is constantly banking to the left. Initially I thought my joystick (X52) was faulty. I stopped for about 3 years, and restarted playing the game (FC2) with the same joystick, but with a new joystick profile. The problem is gone. So you might also want to try a new profile, especially if you have messed around with the axis settings of your joystick.

I certainly want LOFC3 as bad as you can imagine. But I also wish that ED will polish it as much as possible, so that we have a perfect game with most of the features that we have requested for, rather than a half-finished early release. I (maybe mis-?) understand that ED is stuck with LOMAC for each and every release of the FC series. Maybe ED can come out with a multi-bird game based on DCS series, rather than on LOMAC? That makes a lot of sense, at least to me.

Look for the book Art of the Kill. This book is very concise and straight to the point, down to the ground, too. It is very helpful to me. It has information on 1 vs 1 only, unfortunately. I also tried to read the famous Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvering, which is said by some to be the Bible. But this book gives too much unnecessary (at least to me) information that I couldn't finish it.

To Marder and other 7970 users: Even with AMD7970, mirrors still need to be turned off? That's quite disappointing, since mirrors are very useful in a dogfight... What difference in fps can you see between mirrors on and off?

I wish you are correct, but I can't smell it yet... Apart from the mentioning of FC3 in the official update section, I don't see ED team releasing further information... It's all in our own discussion. We excite ourselves... ED, any further information would be much appreciated...:mad:
