  1. Well, it's not ideal by any objective standard, just ideal in my personal opinion. The ideal way of developing series of modern war plane simulation would be the following: First of all, a general framework, which itself is a complete game, is needed: geographical regions, types of planes etc, will be defined in this general framework. Planes could be either player controllable or AI controlled. Something like Lock on flaming cliffs 2 will be an excellent starting point, if further implementations as stated below are possible. Next, modular upgrade can be developed. Examples are more advanced flight models, more detailed maps. AI controlled planes can be purchased as player controllable, too. These are to be purchased as add-ons / upgrades to the general framework. I personally feel that the route taken by the DCS series is a bit of waste of resources and money. Each game contains a single plane? I cannot speak for others, but for me, I am interested in trying all types of fighter jets available. In the case of DCS series, I would have to buy a single game for each plane; in the game, the maps etc. will be repeated, which takes up more hdd space. This needed not be the case. But now, I am afraid it is too late to make this sort of proposition. What do you guys think? Do you have better ideas? ED, any comment?
  2. I am having my eyes on the official update section whenever the Ed forum page is loaded, hoping to see sth related to fc3...
  3. Good to know that there are other people in Singapore flying Lock on...
  4. I am completely with you on this.
  5. Check this webpage: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Everything-You-Need-to-Know-About-the-Dual-Triple-and-Quad-Channel-Memory-Architectures/133/9 In my opinion, you can see a performance boost by enabling dual channel only if the memory in your system is the bottleneck. Even so, the increase in performance will probably be too small to make a noticeable effect.
  6. And between iZ3D and TriDef, which works better with LOFC2? I could find people saying that iZ3D works well with LOFC2, but nobody commenting on TriDef.
  7. As per the title. When I turn/tilt my head when using freetrack, do the 3D images stay intact, or do they fall apart? I am more inclined toward these two than nvidia 3d vision, because of their openness. Thanks.
  8. Please no... How are helicopters suppose to survive among all the fixed wing jets? Plus I don't really like helicopters...
  9. So FC3 is being tested? So exciting piece of news!
  10. Thanks for the nice video. This is very helpful for me as a roockie...
  11. I am not in the USA. What a shame...
  12. No, it's not because the battery is dying... The light emitted now goes in all directions... If I use a reflector at certain angle, but not any other angle, I can see the LED... Sigh. I think I might need to rebuild it, using a new LED...
  13. Hi BIGNEWY, I have removed the IR filter inside my ps3 eye. Now I suspect it is because the battery is dying. I am now gonna buy some new battery. Will update you asap. Thx.
  14. Well, things didn't quite work out... I flattened the front part of the LED glass. The viewing angle didn't increase much, if at all. Now it is not bright enough. From my usual sitting distance, the camera (ps3 eye) sees the other two LEDs, but not the one that I have flattened. I have to be very close to the camera in order for it to see all three. It is completely unusable now... Help... Please...
  15. That's true... And Kepler, too...
  16. Till the end of March? What do you mean? What part of your setup will be released at that time? Anyway, good luck... to the both of us!:helpsmilie:
  17. Thanks CS! I honestly didn't know anything about that... Thanks a lot for the information! Will have to look into this problem when my system is complete...
  18. It's on my wishlist, but not just yet... I know I can be very cheap sometimes, but, hey, that's me! LOL:pilotfly:
  19. Thanks a lot guys. Will be trying out tonight. So excited!
  20. SSD in my impression only accelerates system/application loading time, which in my opinion is not that crucial... Plus the price is a bit too high, which brings down the value/price ratio further. Thanks for you suggestion. I will get it when then price drops to an acceptable level. As for what I do with my computer, mainly I will be playing games on it, some of which might be very demanding (DCS, BF3 etc.). Watching movies and browsing the web are also part of its job perspective, but these are not so demanding in any respect.
  21. OK guys. I have 1TB Seagate HDD 32mb cache 7200rpm, 4GX2 1833mHz RAM, 750W 80+Gold PSU, will be getting i5 2500K or its next generation equivalent, and GTX580 3GB or its next generation equivalent (probably GTX670). If the price of GTX580 drops substantially, I might get another piece to setup SLI. The question is, which do you think will be the bottleneck? Thanks.
  22. My experience with freetrack so far hasn't been good, chiefly because the viewing angle of the LEDs i could find is not wide enough. I am sure you can imagine how frustrating not being able to view freely during a dogfight is... I live in Singapore, a small city, where I have very remote hope of finding the Sfh465xx LEDs recommended in the manual. After consulting the manual, I came across the method of increasing the viewing angle of the LEDs by "filing the lens tips down flat". But I have no idea what that means... Can somebody please enlighten me on this, please? Or do you have better methods than this? I really appreciate it... Thanks in advance!
  23. My system just crashed last night, possibly because I overclocked the GPU too much, and it was over heated... damn. It is a third generation macbook pro running windows...
  24. I am in the process of assembling my new system. This is great time for doing so, since now is the dawn of the next generation of CPUs and GPUs. Now I am half way through. I've got the case, the PSU, the rams, and the HDD. All I need to do now is to choose a CPU (aiming at the successor of i5 2500K) and a GPU (either GTX660 or GTX 670), and a motherboard to accommodate all of them, and am good to go. Maybe an optical drive and some keyboard and mouse are in order, too. These are minor issues. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut when? The release is said to be some time in early April. But when can we actually put our hands on them? OMG I can't think about this right now.:cry::cry:
  25. I see. Have you also tried nvidia 3DTV play?
