can anyone tell me why this script doesn't play the sound? -- ding.lua trigger.action.outText("ding", 2) trigger.action.outSound('ding.wav') i know its running because is see the text 'ding' it works just fine if i use SOUND_TO_ALL but doesn't work from a script for some reason. i've included the files, i place ding.wav (inside the zip) in Sounds and the lua in Scripts, thx steve BTW, i just tried it with a .ogg file and same result ding.lua soundtest.miz ding.zip

thanks for pointing that out, i did notice that code in DCS-BIOS and like you said, my code is just an example, and i wanted simplicity most of all to demonstrate the point, but the right way to do it is what you suggest. thx -

cool landing! so you are down to 220kph with a lot of nose up. i'll try it, thx. so are you using trim and direct control here?

right, same as your car really, you don't usually take a mini roundabout at 70mph. i find the SU-27 settles down to about 280-300kph in a tight sustained turn at full power with direct control. if i back off the power, i loose too much speed and fall out of the sky.

thanks, i guess fountains use particles, not animations http://www.evermotion.org/tutorials/show/7879/water-fountain-tutorial anyhow, i'll try it, see what happens. explosions would use particles too, so i guess its possible.

i just started reading this thread, i have a couple of basic questions: 1) is there a plugin for Blender (i don't think so, and i hate 3dsmax) 2) a want to make a fountain for Bellagio for the NTTR, maybe someting like this http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/316445 , can you import animated 3d models in EDM? thx

is there any way you know of to display the current race time on screen , but not the scrolling debug list you have now, just something neat and tidy up in the corner, kind of like the fps counter? thx

i'd love to add a fountain to the Bellagio pool, is it possible to import your own object like in FSX? i haven't seen anything. maybe i should have put this in the mission builders forum?

i just went into C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Sounds\Speech\Sound\ENG\Common\Betty\Messages and used audacity to mess with the volumes on the files i didn't like but it doesn't work. i guess the audio is hard coded in? i tried restarted DCS. any ideas? i want to do it for all planes, not just a-10 so not interested in an in cockpit solution

i really like direct control now, it's basically 11, really helps me get the gates. i have it right under my thumb, for when, you know, 10 just isn't enough.

so i've been running a few tests in the su-27 at vegas with 5217kg fuel, no weapons. i've added the .miz file if anyone wants to try. in a sustained horizontal turn, i can get 450m radius at about 360-400kph in normal mode and 400m radius at about 320kph in directly control ON mode. (all tests at full power) i can't tell a difference with the W key. i'd be interested to hear if anyone can get a better radius than that and how? turntest1.miz

i set SHOW HELPER GATES FOR UNIT but i have hundreds of waypoint so my screen is cluttered (just like the vegas tour missions) i'd like to turn them all off except for maybe the next 5 or so in line, and make the next one green and the others yellow, so its easy to identify which is the next one to fly though. problem is, i have no idea how to do that. there doesn't seem to be any documentation about it. any one have an idea? thx

250 km/h, that's slow, not sure i can keep it in the air, but i'll try. just to be clear, what exactly do you mean by 'direct control ON'?

we seem to have got off on a discussion about flaps, but i'd really like to know what the optimum airspeed for tightest radius turn in the su-27? right now i'm finding that 500kph and jamming the throttle on full power at the start of the turn is working well for me, but i haven't done extensive testing yet.

i just got NTTR and i'm totally psych'ed about making a Vegas air race. i need to study all these script, figure out what's going on. i'm sure i'll have a lot of questions.

i'm mostly interested in aerobatics and i've been flying a lot in both f-15 and su-27. i notice that the su-27 is a lot harder to fly, constantly needs trimming and is a lot harder to maintain speed and heading. the f-15 is a breeze by comparison, i haven't even bothered to put the trim controls on my stick. i wonder, it that just the simulation or is that the real planes? i doubt too many people have flown both in real life, but maybe someone has studded it. also, in terms of aerobatic performance, high g turns, low speed flight, etc, who would be the winner?

Training Mission: How to add green gates to fly through?

where is 'TRIGGER'? is that a menu option (can't find it), it that something associated with a plane or waypoint? i'm still llost. in the attached mission the gates show up file but i have no idea how. i don't see any actions associated with the waypoints. also, interesting to note the other guy will not fly close to the ground, very frustrating for me. thx steve ok, found it, on the left tool bar, the 3rd one under MIS, 'set rules for trigger' green gate test1.miz
