  1. Now that DCS is legit having cows I don't see this mod as a mere joke anymore...
  2. Correct. I forgot about those!
  3. There has been an issue on HUD blurring for a long time. I'm not certain where to post this exactly, but here it is now. All aircraft HUD's incorrectly blur when you fly or taxi behind another aircrafts heatblur. I assume this is because of render orders. The HUD picture in reality vomes from the projector within the cockpit, and as the heat blurs of engines are outside the aircraft, the HUD picture should not be affected in any capacity by ait movements or temperature changes outside the aircraft. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  4. In fact the only effect currently on all aircraft are wingtip vortices. Only the Hornet has LEX vapours but ive it doesn't have overwing vapours yet. ED has stated that they are coming to all aircraft in time. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  5. "Phantom" is synonymous to "ghost". What this means in the context of a videogame is the following: Your client in a multiplayer game doesn't simulate other players' aircraft. Instead what you see is the aircraft, its location, rotation, movement momentum, configuration etc. as it is sent to you from the other player via the server (e.g. clients are synced). This non-calculated multiplayer representation of the other player is their net phantom. Long teleportation in this case is what happens when the netcode does things that, when combined with large pings and/or packet loss makes the other players (e.g. their net phantoms) sometimes warp several miles around the map. 6. I have around 1-2 hours per night to play, so it depends what I choose. Some nights may have even 3-4 hours if I'm lucky and others it's zero. In addition to that I have some free time to spare around the day to do a few minutes of looking at documents or learning things... I'd say all in all it's pretty good for a guy with work and a family. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  7. Wasn't it already stated that the F1 would remain behind the curtain until the C-101 is completed? At least that is what I would expect given the slower developement pace of Aviodev. One module at a time. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  8. I do agree DCS has done a lot of things right. And even with all its faults it has give a lot pf players ton of hours to enjoy. As of late I have been seeing a lot of long time pet peve bugs and "festures" changed for the better... ..but... how the heck does ED being ED constitute to you having a good time with poor fuel planning skills, good sir? :D PS. I know many of us like to point out the flaws in our beloved sim and make a lot of noise about what and how things should be fixed... but in the end DCS is in many regards in a state now compared to what it was two years ago that I'm not sure I even believe. This is pretty much everything I ever dared to hope from a sim when I flew LOMAC ten years ago and in many things much more. Sims in general have made a spectacular return to the spotlights in the last years. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  9. Remember that the mouse cursor is already projected on the cockpit in a 3D position. This is apparent when playing in VR. In my opinion the cursor position in 3D place is not a issue. The only issue I personally have is with the mouse moving with the viewport. The mouse position could easily be tracked by having an arrow at the edge of the screen pointing towards the cursor when outside the screen. The arrow would disappear just like the cursor right now when the mouse remains stationary for a couple of seconds. I do agree with the problem of VR gloves versus the physical positioning of HOTAS controls. To expand on it, the problem is not only where they are physically... repositioning is - depending on the setup - "relatively easy". BUT. Different aircraft have different ranges of motion and types of motion for their controls... they might have Significantly larger movement ranges (especially throttles!) or different types of hinging (two single axis hingepoints in stead of a single ball gimbal)... So even if you were able to reposition the controller bases to a proper position, the handles themselves may move in a completely different manner to the real deal. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  10. As Elysian Angel said: shoot the wings off. Once it clips the aircraft is a goner.
  11. If I have understood correctly the fabled "FC4" is MAC... so yes, not a separate game, but a new and expanded version of the current FC3. Hence same system requirements as DCS. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  12. Just for clarifications sake I believe it would be wise to add to the "Why the Yak in DCS" a brief note that the aircraft was contracted from ED and that it arrives for us to DCS as a sort of bonus. That way some people have an easier time swallowing the fact that we get our first unarmed aircraft into the game from ED (not counting C-101 since the armed version is on its way). Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  13. You can actually already force the aircraft to install via command line... no keys to use it of course... Also: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/yak52/
  14. Interesting. I do have a feeling I have not seen this constantly. I have to do additional testing on this as well.
  15. Hello. For as long as I've had the Hornet now (shortly since its launch) I've noticed an apparent bug that I don't believe I've seen anyone report yet: The altimeter setting is incorrect for a given altitude. And example: our server's mission has a QNH of 29.78. As we know, by setting QNH on an altimeter said altimeter should show the current altitude above sea level. My aircraft is parked on Krasnodar Center with the field elevation of 98ft. By setting 29.78 I get the altitude of 420ft. To get the correct altitude of roughly 100ft I need to drop the altimeter pressure setting down to around 29.43. Is there an explanation for this behaviour or is it indeed a bug? Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  16. In short, yes. They turn either with max g or not at all, when they should take the distance to the target into consideration. I recommend listening to this for the most indepth and up-to-date info and discussion on DCS missiles.
  17. What?! The Hornet and DCS has been updatet bi-weekly for two months now and you are disappointed?! A few years ago DCS got updates barely once a month and many times with very little content in the patches. I've never seen DCS updated this constantly.
  18. Because it should be? Remember that the problem with camera footage from real aircraft is that the camera shows things like the HUD differently than your eye sees it. Typically all HUDs are tinted way too much towards purple.
  19. And what this practically means is longer ranges for missiles on maneuvering targets due to the missiles not bleeding all their energy at the beginning of a long-range shot. A huge gamechanger on BVR combat! It does not add range for non-manuvering targets when shot from optimal parameters (e.g. missile does not need to turn to intercept). Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  20. Patriot got proportional missile navigation! that will later be added to SAMs and AA missiles! Missiles are being improved finally!
  21. Less moving parts = cheaper to produce and easier to maintain.
  22. For those who wonder "what do I do wity this", or "why is this coming out?": Remember that this project is contracted. We are getting it purely as a bonus aircraft. If you don't need it for anything, don't buy it. I myself will fly basic school flights with my squad mates, just enjoy the flightmodel with our current sceneries and annoy the heck out of people by reserving the runway :D Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  23. I'm sorry, I don't really understand what and why you are asking this... Why would you need/want a disc version when the sim updates so frequently that installing from a disk would still require a ton of updates online. Secondly DCS is a single package in regards to singleplayer and multiplayer... why would one need separate discs? DCS can be set to offline mode after installation in the game. And why would the disc have an operating system requirement but not other system requirements? DCS is a high-end program requiring significant horsepower to play well. This would be crucial information. Could you elaborate on what and why you are asking this? It seems pointless to me with the littke info you have provided... Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
  24. Please consider your post topics. There are a ton of wishlist threads and forum threads in general. The title should state the core or the name of your message. "I GOT 1" is practically a sort of clickbait title, forcing users to click and read if they want to know if you had anything to say that is relevant to them. By writing good titles you increase the chanse that people find your posts later as well when searching. Also the better you can articulate a message, be it the title or a longer post or idea, the more likely it is that others understand your message correctly. Also properly argumented posts have way more value in developing DCS as a platform than spouting opinions and using capslock. I do not mean this post in a hostile manner. You are very welcome to post on the forums. But you will be best recieved by improving your output. Regards, MikeMikeJuliet
