lockon crashes a lot for me no matter where I play, but I'll be sure to get in touch with you as soon as it happens on your server.
-
Ohh.. So lua can't know if a player pressed the prt-scr key itself.. Oh well, good luck :) edit: can't you get in contact with the dudes who had that prt-scr = eject function on their servers?
-
Thank you for working your ass of to make the multiplayer experience better for all of us, Yoda. I hope this mod (or at least the crucial parts of it) will get accepted and used by both the servers and community in the time to come. This could really revolutionize lockon online! By the way, did you have any progress with the printscreening idea? If not, I have an idea (no clue wether it's possible..) How about if you press printscreen while locked by enemy radar/EOS or a missile seeker = eject? Or if that's not possible, maybe if you're within, say 25km of any player-controlled plane; printscreen = eject?

Oh yeah that's a nice idea.. Simmod US cockpits :D

Situational awareness, SARH, SAMS and the BVR (single player)

ECM does in no way deny you long range shots unless you are flying online with a buch of friendlies and bandits in the mix. If you have awacs, you can get accurate distance to the target, and proper IFF. If you don't have awacs, you'll know who'sd friendly and not the second time you fly the mission, and you can ascertain the bandit's distance by watching your SPO-15. If he's locking you with 3 dark bars, you can start launching on his emitter provided your energy is good (altitude and speed.) 2 dark bars are definitely withing range. In fact, the ecm signal makes it easier for your SARHs to follow the bandit trough evasive manouvers. -
Daaaaamn that pit looks sexy from outside.. just wow!!

Damn, good luck man.

I can't beieve I haven't seen this thread before now. Very nice initiative, and very well written, Grimes. 3 yars old, and it seems things have changed for the worse lately. By that I mean less players. I started flying online about a year ago, and I was very green. I saw the 169th server had lots of players, and thought "the more the merrier." It was good fun, allthough I had next to no idea what I was doing and how to do it. After a while I got invited to join Air Hawks, and things started to change for the better for me. I got air-to-air training from Flankerator, arguably one of the best a2a pilots in the community. And boy did it help! I also started working together with my squadmates on ventrilo, and attended every BSS. The best multiplayer experience ever for me was emerging. But after 6 months or so of this, I had to start experimenting on killing awacs, the SEAD role, flanking, etc, to keep myself amused to the same degree. Just going to waypoint 1 and kill 2 guys and rtb was getting old, and it all started feeling a bit pointless (unless I was on vent with my squad, that is always fun!) After a while, me and my squadmate sana..kan taught ourselves (and eachother) to fly the t-frog. Once, we got 2 fighters to escort us on a 20-minute flight from sukhumi and north trough the mountains, using the valleys to stay undetected until we reached the "backside" of maykop. When we got close, I popped up and quickly killed the s-300s searching and tracking radars, as well as the nearby buk (or kub) radars. Sana..kan hit the runway with 8 penetration bobs, perfectly spaced, and our escort overwhelmed the poor, confused player on rtb or takeoff. I managed to kill 3 or 4 spooling planes with my heaters before getting killed by an avenger or vulcan. sana got the same treatment, but our fighters kept supressing Maykop for maybe a full 10 minutes. This allowed blue to push trough bullseye and get really close to maykop. Too bad the runway busters don't work properly, because maykop was dead meat :) If Yoda's LRM v 2 mod works well, and we start getting more players, I have hope that this sort of thing can be encouraged, and more common. I was certainly one of the best cumputergaming experiences for me EVER..

I won't presume to talk for yoda, but if you are referring to parts of the mod getting too far from original lockon, he have stated time and again that all parts of the mod will be optional, so that servers can pick just the parts that they want to use ;)
-
Hmm, if you can pick it up farther away it suddenly sounds a lot better! And yes, the constant chirping in the us planes can be a pain in the ass. Sounds damn cool now suddenly :) Edit: did you test it with long-range sam sites?

I, like kuky am interested in realism, and while perfect bearing and distance from a quick scan 150km away really probably isn't realistic at all, I feel that 55 km might be a bit on the low side. I'm not an expert at all, but the part where you build a mental picture of the nearer parts of the battlefield based on the combination of radar and rwr is to me maybe the heart of air-to-air in lockon. Hmmm, if it isn't very much work for you to make 55km nails RWR detections, maybe it's be cool to have the option to select 3 or 4 different rwr "strengths" that the server admins can choose from?

Take the time you need borchi, I know it will be worth waiting for!
-
Yes, use the STT software and save yourself a ton of grief.

What, the simmod a-10 is more or less the best 3d model ever created in a public sim; and whatsmore it's 100% free, wich is allmost unvbeliable when you see all the work put into it.

My mistake then, I tried your server yesterday. And I used the payload that said "don't change."
-
Found that migs and flanker wouldn't spool at all. The needle just got a small nudge, then back to zero after a second. Also flaps or brakes were impossible to operate on them.

Jepps, meget artig ;)

Thanks :) Sounds sweet, shaggy, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Oh, by the way I'm norwegian, heh, but have always admired sweedish hardware.
-
Damn those are great!! Hey Shaggy, I always loved the Sweedish camo, especially with the bright orange tail numbers.. Maybe it'd look fresh on a mig-29?

View the tutorials over again. Your manual is in your lockon/documents (or doc) folder, along with keycards.

Well in my opinion, rearming is not really necessary to infringe upon if refuelling is limited as in 99% of the cases you'll need fuel as well :) As for printscreening, if a certain server is having lots of trouble with it, maybe if they could be able to turn it (1 printscreen = eject) on for a period would be helpful... It might be worth more than the ebility to take screenshots. Anyway, I'm sure you'll find a way to allow just 1 printscreen.
-
Nice! Will that go for rearming as well? Normally not an issue as most pilots need fuel as well, but in some cases the a-10 for instance could be able to just stop and rearm on the runway. Also loving the eject on printscreen - idea! But yeah it's nice beeing able to take a screenshot once in a while if alone on server or to gather evidence of bad form or cheating, etc..

Bloody hell, yoda, I post a suggestion and go away for a day, was hoping for maybe a reply to it when booting up my comp, and now it's allready tried and tested.. You are amazing! Oh, I just figured out how to give rep btw :)
