I know i could just play a track or whatever in the background, but i compiled a nice list with lower quality, by chance it sounded really cool coming through the radio as if a proper broadcast. Plus i liked it fading dep on pos/altittude. But anyway, it doesnt matter...
-
Thats a shame, do you know if there are an plans to reimplement this some how?
-
Does anyone know if this BS feature has been carried over? I used to love cruising around listening to my custom playlist on the radio.

For those that are inrested in another way of dealing with the pesky F keys. Have you tried a voice recognition system? I use VR Commander, then just program the F keys into the software. So when i need the radio, i use the mic switch on my hotas then just say 1/2/3/4 etc. for which ever menu i need, works great.

Welcome to the world of DCS Mik.... I can only repeat what has been said before in regards to learning the sim. So i'll just say i hope you enjoy your time flying and that you have alot of WOW! moments like the rest of us do. :pilotfly:

Cheers, had this game sitting on my shelf since release. I remember installing it being impressed but it was so buggy... Now i can go back and have another look.

Hey guys, does anyone know if any other patches before 2.11 are required? Or can i just install the original game then the 2.11 update? Thanks

When was the last time you used it Bumfire?? Some people did have some trouble with the very 1st version. Must admit i never had a problem myself, it all ran fine. Anyway the latest version of the updater suite is alot more advanced than the original.
-
Have you tried using the latest version of the Six Updater Suite? http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-arma-updater/files In theory (and practice on my non-steam version) is should detect which version you have and download the correct files. I will check with one of my guys who has the steam version (even though i told him no to :) )

I would suggest this post should have been posted in the "Other Sims" thread. But as it will probably get moved, yes you can fly the A10 in ArmA2 - Operation Arrowhead. Although the game itself is as close to an infantry simulator as your going to get the CAS aspect can look arcady compared to the DCS series. The A10 in ArmA can deploy laser guided bombs (lasing is done by a ground unit not the aircraft itsself), aswell as "dumb" bombs, mavericks and obvisouly the GAU-8. Again the flight model is a little arcadey but no more than is required for simplicity in, as i say, an infantry sim primarily. Targeting is done via "click" targeting. i.e you see a target and click on it to lock up. If you have proper team coordination (no point playing ArmA without it), it can be very rewarding having the A10 and a decent pilot above you. As for the AH-64D Longbow, it is equally as rewarding/arcady like the A10. By default it is "click" targetting like the other vehicles in the game. But with a mod like ACE, you can have a much better targeting system. For example laser guided Hellfires which can be guided by the firing airframe or another source and the normal radar guided Hellfires using the Longbow search/track radar. As with the A10 it is simplified a great deal from the real thing. But in a game where the focus is on infantry, i think reaches a good compromise esspecially with the above mentioned mod.

I apologise if i read it the wrong way. But it sure looked like sarcastic jibe at BI. Why even bother to write something in the first place? Infact no, it doesnt matter, dont want another topic going astray.

That comment wasnt really needed, whats the point in just a mindless pop at another company (especially one with customer support and community interaction on par with ED). Bad Form! Back on topic, i see where the op is coming from but you have to see it from ED's point of view. I think alot of people are taking this beta too far. The fact is it was given to those who pre-ordered as a bonus. I appreciate that not everyone has a credit card, but at the end of the day its not a retail game yet, there is no requirement to provide other ways of distribution until the final product is ready to ship. I keep saying to people who ask about A10, the game hasnt been released, but if you would like to pre-order the game. Then you are given the chance to help with the testing.

No problem Warrior, i understand the need for TIR functions, i myself only use the "re-centre" function, which as Dejjvid pointed out can just be assigned to a HOTAS button via the TIR software. BUt i suppose if you had use of the other functions aswell then maybe you would need to sort keyboard keys for those. As posted above mate, TS3 will not accept an input for PTT unless all of the HOTAS switches are in the neutral position. Once they are all in the neutral positions TS3 should not have a problem picking up a key press. Just remember that once you are finished flying if you wish to set your PTT back to say your mouse (where i have my PTT most of the time) you will need to reset the switches back to neutral. As far as i am aware TIR does not suffer from this problem and you can assign a HOTAS button without having the switches in the neutral positions. TM Warthog Neutral Positions: Base Switches Eng Fuel Flow: Both Override Position Eng Oper: Both Centre Position APU: Off Autopilot: Alt/Hdg RDR ALTM: DIS EAC: Off Flaps: Centre Throttle Speedbrake: Centre Boat: Centre Pinky Switch: Centre Also make sure the throttle is just idle NOT inside the indentation for engines off.
-
Just out of curiosity, why would you want them mapped on the keyboard? Surely having them available on the HOTAS would make your life a bit easier... Anyway, i'll leave Warrior to continue
-
Your using a TM Warthog correct? I myself use "mic switch" Up for TS3 transmit and "mic switch" Push for TIR Centre. Afaik the unused buttons on the TM Warthog are: Throttle Mic Switch Up Mic Switch Push Slew Push Friction wheel on the right side (which i use for zoom). Stick Paddle button at the bottom. Not sure about VAC, but TS3 and TIR are able to use the button presses as default so you shouldnt need to map keyboard keys etc.

How to get frequencies of ATC Towers for Airports in the CDU?
S D replied to DocSigma's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I thought this was already in the current build, using function-2 on the ufc to get to the DIVERT CDU page. Or are the frequencies on there not complete? -
Firstly i did search and found an old thread related to this, but with no activity for over 6 months i felt a new thread might be in order. For those that are not aware, Restrepo is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. Its on National Geographic, Monday 29th November, 9PM. http://restrepothemovie.com/

VR Commander is a good little program, the lack of voice training does mean that occasionally commands are mixed up. But aslong as you define clear enough words or phrases it works great. I say lack of, its not a bad thing at all. Makes it very quick an easy to use and great for multiple users. Considering the price is only $9.95, i'd say its well worth it. Also has a 15 day free trial.

Cheers Ed that seems to have solved the issue. Damn those yank keyboards...;););) Thanks again dude.
-
Yeah thankfully it all works spot on (good job ed). The main thing i want to do is assign back the up on the "mic" switch, to my TS transmit key as its not used in game.

I've been down all the official channels (still waiting for response), hence me coming here with apologies about posting here.

Hi guys, first of all i aplogise for posting a TM related problem here. But their lack of official forum isnt helpful. Anyway after the recent delivery of my HOTAS Warthog, i installed TARGET. I cannot get the GUI part of the software to work, it just crashes on startup. I only have the Warthog and no other thrustmaster products bar a steering wheel which wouldnt work with TARGET anyway. Has anyone else got this issue or hopefully a solution. I'm running on Win7 64bit. I've seen a couple of scattered reports of problems, but not together. So i hope a single thread might bring some ideas/solutions together.
