Its just understanding the sequence of doing things and the limit of the each step i guess. If i'm in a position or airspace where i dont have to worry about threats. I generally engage auto pilot once i'm in a steady climb and cleaned up. I pretty much continue on auto pilot, commanding turns and climbs/descents with the auto pilot trim input. Generally i'll set whatever altitude i need into the barrel select before the climb/descent, then command the climb/descent with the auto pilot trim input down/up. Once you get used to it, it saves such a load on the pilot, when doing an IFR approach for example. I really like the way the system is designed.

Its called a little bit of trouble shooting fella, two simple questions to rule something out. The post was there to give you the information incase the answer to the questions were yes, save you some time. But yeah nvm.
-
Well that's a bit of a sharp response... It was just a suggestion, if the answers to questions at the start of the post are no, then you disregard the rest. I have checked my end, just for the sake of it. But do not get the behaviour you describe.

Does this happen in other aircraft? Does it do it before you fire missiles? If so, might be worth checking to see if the roll axis on the Warthog is centered. There a reported problems (ive had it aswell), where the roll axis is not dead center. It can be sorted with the Thrustmaster calibration programs. Here is a thread on the subject, there are a couple of different version listed for download there, so just make sure you have the latest. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65901 Obviously before you start messing, check the roll axis numbers in the target software. I believe the details and instructions for the whole process are in that thread.

This sounds right, so from a cold start, going from VEI -> [] would keep the jammer in standby, ready for the hotas to activate. If thats option one, then yeah that would perfect. Appreciate the response on this and your general view on feeback from us. Thanks a bunch.

Do we know if there is any update on this? Is the current behaviour correct? Something i always think about everytime i go flying.

Can confirm crash happens with latest MIST version, my template was built from scratch using the latest for the Spitfire release.

Mission 05 - Just flown noticed a couple of things. I'm not sure if there is any radio traffic between flight lead and player, on start-up and prior to taxi. I can hear outbound traffic from the player, comms check, startup and what sounds like copying an inbound call. But nothing from lead... The first time i hear comms with the flight lead is as he calls the roll to taxi. Outbound calls and the taxi inbound call, are voice over, not in game traffic. Green Radio - Preset 1 Red Radio - Preset 1 --------------------------------------- Flight documentation, Flight Plan indicates a left turn after takeoff to WP2. This is a right turn from WP1 - WP2 following flight lead. --------------------------------- Side note - not a mission issue. The taxi to takeoff, it might be worth putting a hold in for flight lead prior to entering the runway, like previous missions if possible. Ignoring the ATC it wasnt really a problem, but if someone was following instructions. You end up quite a way behind lead after takeoff. Again not really an issue per say, as it doesnt take much to catch him, but still might throw anyone who isnt confident finding and staying with lead. ------------------------------- Hoping to get more time to get more mission done, but as always, loving it so far. Cant wait to see how the campaign progresses. Cheers Baltic

Can confirm, we are getting the same crashes. Even on my reduced load version. :(

Although the spotting distance may be reduced in VR. The situational awareness you gain, in my opinion, outways the negatives. This is true for all aircraft, but more so in a ground pounder.

I dont really know much about technical audio stuff, but i can say it just takes the audio output from the game. So its no different than moving your head around using the numpad for example. I think we're all aware the DCS audio engine does have some querks. Any slight audio issue i have heard, i have checked with a friend who has trackIR and its the same thing. So for instance turning left and right in the Mirage there was a slight bug, but this is just the sound engine/sound sources, nothing to do with VR. When i first started using the Rift i detached the onboard headphones and used my normal headset. It didnt take me long to just go fully over to using the Rift headphones and mic. All built in, no extra cables, the only thing you have to do is switch your audio output in playback devices, and switch the mic input if your using something like TS. Couple of clicks and your away. I actually find it much easier than when i was using trackIR, making sure my sensor was aligned and my screen in the right position in relation to my hotas & chair. Now i just get comfortable, pull on the HMD and re-center. Job done... EDIT:- I will add a downside, which may only apply to the Rift. This totally depends on USB related issues. If you get lucky it will all be fine, but some USB ports/firmware can be iffy. This is mainly down to the software on the Rift itself, which as its being updated is getting better. I have an issue where if i power down my system or do reboots, the Rift headset is not recognised. The software tells me the HDMI is not connected, this just requires pulling the USB for the HMD out and in again. To recycle the connection if you will. At one point they fixed it for me, then another software update broke it again. But its such a small thing, its just part of me getting ready to fly now.

Yes, simple answer. All depends on personal circumstance, if you can afford it (and the hardware to run it) and understand the resolution draw back. Then go for it... its as big a leap from not using track IR to using it, if not more so. The one to one scaling (or as close as) makes flying so much more natural. Situational awareness is improved immensely, as your brain understands where you are in 3d space. This really translates for chopper flying, hovering becomes second nature not even a real thought process. As you naturally use reference points in your peripheral vision, not unlike real pilots, except they get the inertia input aswell. Also depends on what your flying, as for HOTAS aircraft, with the corrosponding hardware, its as close as your going to get to sitting in a jet. But even then, i cant speak for the Vive as i use the Rift. But doing tasks in the real world isnt that hard, Keyboard/Mouse interaction is fine. Going back to the resolution "downside", if you want to call it that. Is in my opinion completely outdone by the feel of being inside the virtual space. Sure you might have to use the VR zoom function to read certain small displays, like switching a radio freq, but its really not a big fuss. As a poster above said its hard to describe. Also you'll hear reports of motion sickness and the like, i can only speak for myself but i've never had such issues. I guess if your used to TrackIR then you should be able to transition with no ill effects. I did get a slight headache for 5/10 mintues when i first used it, but i attribute this to me focusing on the screen pixels. Which takes a little time to adjust to looking "through", almost like you would a fine mesh infront of your eyes. But once your doing stuff in game you dont notice it. Now it just feels natural, no way i could go back to using even trackIR. P.S You'll be suprised how big the American cockpits are in VR, the Mirage is so cosy in comparison.

DOGS of WAR: FULL MISSION SET RELEASED!
S D replied to dooom's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks for this release... -
Awesome... The Mirage is starting to feel like home to me now, just like the A10C. Makes playing this campaign so much more enjoyable, with the excellent work you've done, well i'm impressed. Bravo sir, fantastic job.

Might be an idea to indicate which of these changes have already been implemented into DCS updates in the future. Also apologies if i have missed the release, but is the plan still to release the mission briefs and related data in .pdf format still going ahead? I like doing all my mission prep out of the pit, would be great to have them.
-
^^ I have thought this aswell. Would seem to make more sense...
-
Will this fix cover the tweaking of axis for the TDC? I have got used to using my DMS switch for the TDC, but it would be nice to have the option of the warthog slew control. Its either far too fast or does not move at all, have spent ages trying to tune the axis for it, but it doesnt seem to work.
-
I quite like the autostart as it is atm. After all a manual start is pretty simple to do, so when i get in the pit i can enter my ins info and start alignment on ground power. Then allow the auto start while i double check flightplan/freqs etc. Have a couple of minutes a quiet time before taxi... but then again i do like just sitting in the mirage pit, so cosy.

A10C - Losing Cockpit Orientation With Oculus Rift.
S D replied to Tinkickef's topic in Bugs and Problems
Have you got the "reset VR" button set? Its just like re-centre on the TrackIR. As long as your rift calibration is done and the sensor does move between sessions. The reset VR can be used to adjust for any changes in your position. -
Does anyone else have the issue, that when you turn your head roughly 90 degrees, left or right. The sound fades away?
-
Jump on 5 minutes earlier and let it auto-start while you make a brew. :P

[REPORTED]M01 - wingman stuck at the runway
S D replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Problems and Bugs
Did not have the above issue myself, although one of my flight did vanish mid-taxi. I assume because i took his parking spot. But i can confirm i did receive 100 complete status. Loving this so far, a very nice introductory mission, bravo sir. Really hope Eagle can find a solution to the MP issues though. -
Yeah couldn't agree more. Such a shame this seems to be a non priority thing to ED. Its all well and good stuffing more and more air frames into the sim, but without the content to use these, whats the point... Surely ED could dedicate one staff member to at least explore the option of creating something, in many way similar to MOOSE. Just a developer backed attempt to at least give us the tools to create something. A good solid framework for a dynamic system which can be implemented across maps and the modularity to plug any DCS module into it. Is as important to the future of this sim as the two other major areas i feel are neglected. Namely dedicated servers & the scaling / visibilty of aircraft. I cant help but see the potential, but i fear this potential isn't going to be realised for a long long time.
