  1. Thank you. I will try the PS3eye camera route.
  2. Would it be a good idea to mention in the AV-8's description that VR or head tracking software is highly recommended?
  3. When mine crashes it does not.
  4. Since DCS release version has an automatic crash reporting program in it, then why doesn't the Openbeta have the same program?
  5. Same here. Prior to the latest Openbeta update a few days ago everything was running just fine. Openbeta for me does not ctd, it literally locks up my computer. I can't even access the Task Manager. What I can do is press Ctrl+Alt+Del which sends me to a blue screen with some options but when I click on Task Manager, all I get is a DCS splash screen. The only thing I can do is reboot, sleep, or shut down. I have other 64 bit and 32 bit simulators, but only DCS Openbeta causes the computer to lock up. Running Openbeta repair does not solve the problem. DCS release version (stable version) does not caause this locking up problem. Openbeta freezes the computer during a mission, after clicking fly again, clicking to go back to the mission editor after a mission, sometimes after I click on a mission to fly, etc... Name the task at hand in DCS Openbeta and it will lock up the computer, it is only a question of when. I allowed the computer to sit for over an hour when Openbeta quits responding but it just sits on whatever screen DCS Openbeta is on when it stops responding. I have rebooted, turned the computer off and on, gone straight to DCS (running as admin as always) hoping that RAM is "refreshed", but that does nothing to help. Openbeta is not generating crash logs, only 2 text documents dated today: DCS and Debrief.
  6. Wouldn't that reduce situational awareness because instead of just moving your eyeballs up and down you have to move your eyeballs and your head simultaneously?
  7. Thanks for the reply. It is too bad that the designers of the cockpit made the UFC to protrude so far towards the pilot. I wish it was designed like the F-18.
  8. Is the only easy way to view the LSKs that are obstructed by the Harrier's UFC panel is to have Track IR or something equivalent to that?
  9. Thank you both!
  10. I am thinking of buying the X-56 with throttle quadrant. After looking at many photos online...How do you secure both stick and throttle quadrant to a desk, in my case, to prevent them from moving around when you are using them? Thank you
  11. Thank you! The key S does the job.
  12. I can designate a target to be bombed in Auto mode without any problem, but after I strike the target I cannot un-designate the target area that I set as my target so that I can move on. What do you push to un-designate? Maybe I'm wrong but is seems like I cannot put the remaining bombs into a different mode either when it comes to the symbology on the HUD. On the Stores page I can change the mode easily from Auto to CCIP or the 2 remaining modes, but the HUD remains with the nav cues (heading bug, miles from target, etc.) and I cannot get out of Auto mode in order to bomb another target. To try un-designating the target area I already tried pushing the same I used to designate the area as the target, but that does not do anything. This is for both latest versions 2.5 stable and open beta, and I have ran DCS Repair on both versions of 2.5.
  13. Okay...I will try different seasons. But this has never happened to me before in previous DCS versions and I have flown out of Nellis in every season.
  14. I have the latest version of 2.5 stable and open beta, ran repair on both and graphic problems in Nevada still persist in both. I posted in the open beta forum too. This is for 2.5 stable version: No ground markings at Nellis...Attached is a screenshot. I haven't checked other airports yet in the Nevada map to see if they have the same problem. Another weird detail is that in Nevada, the wingtips create vortices at 10 kias when on the ground and sometimes when the F-18 is not moving. Do other planes have this problem?
  15. Weird...There is no paint (taxiways, runways, parking, etc.) on the cement at Nellis. Attached is a screenshot. I ran DCS open beta repair but nothing changed.
  16. It looks like you misunderstood my post. When a question mark is at the end of a sentence, that means a question is being asked. Aircraft are never supposed to think for you, but many modern day aircraft (going back to the 1980's to present) that cost millions of Dollars have more split second error reports and corresponding error consequences than anyone can memorize that alert pilots as to what is wrong. Many times even before a pilot senses a problem...The MD-11 is a good circa 1980's example. So it looks like my problem is that I've been in too many commercial airliner aircraft for the last 25 years. A close relative of mine captains Emb-170/175s, and he has done 3 no flap landings. Why? When calling for flaps 1 the slats did not move, and at that very moment more than 1 error message popped up immediately and simultaneously. The error messages not only said what malfunctioned, but on another page it detailed the reason that caused the slats for not moving and the plane automatically calculates the no flaps landing speed (Vref + "x"). As for the simulated Hornet, I think LooseSeal is correct in that the damage to the flight model is not modeled much. If you look at the left wing in the picture I posted there is 1 large hole and other small holes, but yet my fuel page showed the exact same amount of fuel in the left wing as there was in the undamaged right wing. Also with a wing with that kind of damage, I doubt that the wing's integrity would have remained after the really high G-loads I pulled to get out of harms way and then going over Mach 1 below 5,000 ft. The video you posted shows that the guy had a problem and he did not not know what was wrong, but at 29:20 minutes he says that the plane's "Betty" gives an audio warning concerning flight controls and that he thinks the FCS page automatically popped up (automatic pop-up of a display has not happened to me yet) and the FCS page showed him that something was wrong with his right TEF by showing 4 x's. In my case, the FCS page showed no problems in any control surface while I flew it straight and level for 45nm at an altitude of 4,000 ft. and at a speed of 320 kias. I simply think that damage to the flight model is a WIP on the Hornet.
  17. I did not know I had a damaged TEF until later in the flight when I was out of harms way and I then looked outside by hitting F2.
  18. Firstly keep in mind that 300 kias is or was the magic number. The Hornet handled poorly under 300 kias, as it should, and the slower I flew the worst it handled. I was able to keep an airspeed of 290 to 297 kias for a while to see how it handled in increments of speed as I slowed down, but the moment I hit 300 kias or greater the plane handled like a new bird out of the hangar. As to your question: I find it hard to believe that after taking enough damage to lose a flap, that all actuators and position sensors would be undamaged. So to me this sounds like a WIP.
  19. When hit, the Hornet flies like there is nothing wrong with when you reach 300 kts or greater. The moment you are just below that speed, the plane is very difficult to control. In this case I lost my left TEF. With flaps set, and the usual speed for landing, the airplane was very unstable. The FCS page however still showed that I had functioning left TEF. So instead of landing on the carrier I landed on an air base with a no flaps landing. A screenshot of the damage is attached. Is an FCS page fix to show improper functionality after damage in the pipeline?
  20. Thank you.
  21. I have had the Su-27 for a long time, but the J-11A is not in my list of aircraft in neither 2.5 or Open Beta. I have the latest versions of both 2.5 stable and open beta, and I have ran the DCS Repair on both. What am I missing, misunderstanding, or doing wrong?
  22. PG map, not online, single player, mission made from Create Fast Mission. The fps were just fine and then the screen went black, the DCS "error reporter" then asked if it was okay to prepare an error log. So it's attached. I have the latest version of DCS Open Beta. Could someone tell me why it ctd? dcs.log-20180625-235722.zip
  23. As of the update yesterday: When I select the Sparrow, I can have any enemy aircraft 10 nm in front of me, positioned in the middle of my hud, and the radar in the F-18 will not detect the enemy aircraft. BUT when I select the gun or the Sidewinder, the radar begins to work properly. So I narrowed the radar's horizontal movement to 40 degrees, at 10 nm range, middle of my hud, and with the Sparrow selected the radar is blank. However when I leave the radar range at the "default" 40 nm range, the radar picks up every piece of metal in the sky. So I move the TDC to an echo that is about 20 nm directly in front of me on the radar, and I literally mean the target on the radar is at my 12 o'clock. I select that echo (target), then look up in my hud and the aircraft on the hud is to my 10 o'clock. How is this possible? Before yesterday's update I could easily lock onto an airborne target.
  24. No. No spawning. If you want to experience this. Click on Instant Action, Persian Gulf, Carrier Takeoff. I thought I heard that there was an update coming out today, so maybe there has been a fix. If you read other bugs that I have submitted with no one replying to it, I think there is a thread started by me regarding the rescue chopper appearing out of no where (when I caught one of the arresting cables) in between cats 3 and 4 where the chopper was on fire and smoking. I wonder how the chopper magically appeared there the moment I landed and how he was damaged. There was never a "I'm hit" message on the radio from the chopper, or any other radio message from the chopper. If you want to read my bug threads that I start, you will notice that I never fly online.
  25. PG map, deck of the USS Stennis, Offline, Single player, Instant action - Carrier takeoff. How is it that the AI Hornets which are wingmen can get hit after they park and shutdown their aircraft when there is no combat of any type? Minutes after that they can spontaneously combust, damage the carrier, and thereby render the Stennis useless for practicing launches and traps because there are little fires on the deck. Attached is the latest track where 2 of the wingmen radio "I'm hit, I'm hit" over and over. I would attach a screenshot but I have no luck anymore by taking one. This time though it took several minutes to load the Carrier Takeoff "mission" whereby it usually only takes 45 to 60 seconds at the most. It took at least 5 minutes for the computer to load part of the sequence Terrain Init: 1 and the part of the sequence before that. AI-Hornets-get-hit-after-shutdown.trk
