  2. ED can do whatever they want with the structure of their product. We have no say in the decision process. Mod are just that : a modification of their original product. ED has no obligations to support any of our modifications. Furthermore, the 2.5.6. has been released to the beta client of DCS. So this is a little bit strange to expect a bugfree product without any compatibility issues with user's made modifications, everytime. Otherwise it would be called the stable version. And again, even with a stable version, ED has no obligations to support our mods. It might be frustrating to deal with all this technical issues to some of us but we should remember what to expect from ED when it comes the beta client. So yes your advice is probably a safe course of actions. It is better to wait a little bit longer before applying a new update if one doesn't want to deal with new technical issues or bugs with his favourite mod.
  3. Is it an inspiration from Gusto, the Mirage 2000 French pilote member of the 2/5 "île de France" squadron ?
  4. I created another folder on another volume with sufficient free space and I provided that new path the updater program. The updater program downloaded all the files in that new folder, unpacked them and then copied them to the DCS Beta folder.
  5. I have also experienced the same behaviour since I updated the beta client to version 2.5.6. and I have cleaned both fxo and metashaders folders. The performance are worst than the previous version. I play in VR and did not change the graphics settings except for SSLR. I tried it on and off but that did not seems to have any significant impact on the performance. The improved lightning is very much appreciated, the visibility is much better now than before. We will see if ED manage to improve the performance with the next patch, this is still work in progress and it will probably takes time for them to optimise DCS with the new version.
  6. Merci beaucoup pour tes efforts. Au vue des screenshots le résultat est sublime ! J'ai hâte de voir ça sur mon écran et en VR. :) Thank you a lot for your hard work. The textures look amazing in your screenshots. I can't wait to see the result on my flat screen and in VR.
  7. Exactly and this looks fantastic. And yet both maps are including the same countries in the same setting during the same period of time, at least for France and England. The map could go all the way from the North of Bretagne (Dinard is already on the Normandy Map) to the Netherlands, including the South of England, this would be amazing ! So why the merging of both maps to create a new one wasn't an option ? Out of curiosity, is it a technical problem ? A contract issue with Ugra Media ? Both ? Or something else ? Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am looking forward to enjoy all the new improvements the developers have been working on.
  8. It doesn't make sense to me because the Normandy coast lines are on the "English Channel" Don't get me wrong, I am very happy to learn that the South-Est of England, the North-Est of France and the low countries have been created on a map to support WWII scenarios from the late 30s to 1945 and it looks fantastic ! Please, don't take it the wrong way, but I feel it would have made much more sense to merge both map from a customer point of view, again, to my opinion. Anyway, the newsletter brings a lot of cool stuff to look forward, 2020 is going to be great for DCS World ! :)
  9. So I guess DCS : The Channel Map is not an extended version of DCS : The Normandie Map ? Too bad but I suppose the reasoning behind this is because each map is meant to cover a different period of WWII...
  10. DCS : The Channel Map ? Considering we already have DCS : the Normandy Map (1944), this is an interesting choice of words to say the least... And this sound very promising ! I can't wait to read the news letter. :)
  11. Thank you Ugra for updating the Normandy map. I am so glad Le Mont Saint-Michel has been added and Rouen updated. :)
  12. Welcome back ! It looks promising for an early version. Looking forward for the next version and seasons.
  13. Oh la vache !!! What a tease ! Can't wait to see the end result. :)
  14. This ! Absolutely ! It has been reported by Wags, in an article, that ED is working on developing a new terrain engine which would increase the ground details amongst other things. CA would benefit greatly from that. I hope ED could take more interest in what the community is doing. That mode is a fine example of what could be done to expand the gameplay of CA even more.
  15. Génial ! Great work ! Thank you for sharing your mod with us.
  16. I used to play DCS on a 24" Full HD (1920x1080) Monitor with Track IR for years. Then I replaced my old monitor with a 35" curved Ultrawide (3440 x 1440) monitor. That change alone was amazing, until I tried DCS in VR with the Occulus Rift. The level of immersion of the Rift made me seriously reconsider using a monitor for simulators but the resolution and global image clarity was just very bad, so I waited. Later, I tested the Occulus Rift S with DCS and Elite Dangerous and that experience convinced me it was time for me to switch over VR for good. That being said, knowing the HP Reverb had a much better screen resolution I tried to buy it first. Sadly, the launch was a failure so I bought the Rift S instead. It was available and the price was a good deal at the time. The image clarity was much better compared to the old Occulus Rift and I enjoyed it a lot for both simulators and other type of VR games. But I was still disappointed by the screen resolution and the level of image clarity of the Rift S when playing DCS. So when I got the word that the HP Reverb was "fixed" and available in France, I knew what I had to do. Now, I am using the HP Reverb and I can tell you the image clarity is much, much, much better compared to the Rift S. Really, the higher resolution is what makes it so much better for DCS. With a resolution of 2160x2160 per eye, I do not feel the need to artificially increase the pixel density or to use any other image filtering. And because of that DCS runs much better ! I invited a friend who has always played DCS on his monitor. He was trying to make up his mind about switching to VR or not. I made him try the Rift S After that he was convinced that VR was the way forward for simulators and was already preparing to bring the news to his wife (lol). Then, two days later, I told him to come back and to try the HP Reverb. He was blown away. The higher resolution did the trick. He could spot and identify contacts from a much greater distance and read the flight instruments more easily compared to the Rift S. My wife tried both VR headset with different VR games and she never had any issue with either of them. She was impressed by the better image clarity of the HP Reverb but we both prefer the Occulus Controlers, tracking is better and they are more comfortable to handle. We both wear glasses although we didn't have any issue to keep them on when using a VR headset, the Rift S has more room to accommodate them. I have an IPD of 65/66 and I never had any issue with any of them. The Sweet spot of the HP Reverb seems smaller but the overall image clarity outside of the area is not that bad compared to the Rift s anyway. The Rift S is much more intuitive and easy to install and setup. Installing the HP Reverb made me uninstalled the USB 3.1 drivers provided by the company that integrated them into the MB to replace them by the standard Windows drivers for example. Otherwise it was not working at all. Plus you need to use the beta version of the Windows Really for Steam VR to make it work with Steam VR. You have to install Windows 1903 update to make sure Windows Really portal is updated as well. This is not a big deal for me since I work in IT for the last 15+ years but a regular user could have been a little bit annoyed by all that. Would I go back to the Rift S for DCS World ? Hell no ! I hope Eagle Dynamic will allow DCS to support the HP Reverb natively and improve the performance in VR as well.
  17. Great ! This will be a must for me in VR ! :) Thank you for sharing. :)
  18. This may sounds like silly questions but : What kind of new functionalities the new CM box will add ? Will we be able to use more than 2 radios in the future ? Thank you for sharing your WIP. :)
  19. Thank you very much for sharing ! This is encouraging news.
  20. The WWII asset pack access could be available and free of charge to everyone joining a multiplayer server (at least for the Normandy map). Maybe such a feature could be made available to us once the dedicated servers are released. That way the WWII online community could grow more easily. Purchasing the asset pack would still be a requirement if you want to play single player, missions, campaign or host a server/dedicated server.
