Hey guys... & gals?? I have been fighting getting VIACOM working and in the process had to dig into Easy Communications option in the Main SETTINGS menu. Never really understood the BLACK OUT AND WHITE menu fields... my version of the GUI doc doesn't even explain this option at all...?? I've put together a small inst doc that might help new users understand this option better. I know all you OLD timers don't use it but a NEW user might find it helpful at least until they get up to speed. It also helped me understand VIACOM better as well (that is another issue for later) So for now have a look and any corrections or comment please feel free... (but be kind...) MacroBuilder directory?? What are we supposed to do with the other zip file "vacATCMacroBuilder.zip" contained in the "VAC_ATC_Menu_Mod_and_MacroBuilder-v1.1.zip"? The macrobuilder contains a double nessted directory of the same name??? About the only thing I can get to work well is "Profile Reset", with some work I can get ATC at Mosdok, they reply with different call sign "ENFIELD 11" and their name "Honda"??? First time I call the tell me to TAXI, 2nd try it works and I get clearance response. Auto ATC for radio freq does not appear to work the radio freq is not shown on panel. For now, this is a fantastic bit of work, but unless I can get the bugs out and questions answered it is more trouble than help. Really hope to get it working.

Thanks... They are doing an amazing job with this SIM so this is no big deal with all they have going... Happy to wait until it get fixed...

A Belated Merry Christmas everyone I noticed in the options menu that there's a switch to show or hide the stick. [see attached photo] The copy of the user Manual I have does not show this section so I don't know what it is supposed to do. But checking it does not seem to remove the stick from the cockpit display in the Sim. Trying to get to the EGI, TACAN, etc would be easier if the stick was not in the way. Is my understanding of this button correct? If so, what am I doing wrong because it doesn't seem to work.

I am truly amazed at the dedication of users like you who spend (what I know to be) endless hours of programming to improve what I believe to be one of the BEST and MOST ACCURATELY MODELED flight sims in the world. The DCS guys are lucky to have users like this helping with the tremendous task of maintaining, improving and testing such an incredible piece of programming... My Thanks go out to you as well....!!!

I agree with the looking out the window part but, unless your HIGH END graphics is set to max looking out the window in the sim is NOT like looking out in real life. When you have a threat like AAA or Sam standing off at 20 Miles and locking on is the way I go. Once the bit threats are gone then I love to go in and use the guns... I've seen some chatter about the Starway Map Mod with better visuals, has anybody used this and does it help???

One of the best example videos for starting the HOG... WELL DONE, HIGH QUALITY, and not a lot of useless dead time or bouncing head movements you see in a lot of the training vid. Great explanation of what to do and a brief exp of what the switch or system does in the aircraft. Other NEW USER training videos would do well to follow this example.

Ive heard of Team Speak but do not know much about it...? I just followed the link in post. Do I need something else?? another app perhaps?

Server Link not working for me Tried to connect to 108.254.190.138 but got a half displayed Word Press web page. None of the links worked... "Read more", "Games List" etc.. see attached...? I'm running Viper AV could that be limiting my access? Don't want to disable it just to connect, and I'm not getting any warnings

I'm in.... Would also love an interactive session(s) on the mission editor... I've worked with it a bit and made some good training sessions but still have a LOT to learn to build a proper mission.

On my list for Xmas....!!!! Kippy, You're other comments are right on... I spend too much time trying to find stuff with the mouse pan&zoom or the top hat on the stick... Got to fly back seat in F4J at Miramar (Top Gun) school with my CO. Did low level passes over Enterprise 500ft @ 900 knts, low but not slow...!!! Pull out was a bugger... also did a mock dog fight, don't know how they keep their heads up...?? Also, damm near puked, so for you guys that are yanking the stick all around, when you hear the guy grunting... it's for real... Thanks for the help and info...!! Keep shootin'

Kippy Your wisdom is well appreciated, I'll modify the missions to put the sidewinders on station 1 or leave them off in place of a mav or rocket pod. If I'm going into an area I expect to have A:A support. The times I've gone head to head with Su25's I can't even get a lock on before they have fired. The visual thing is very true, but with the resolution of our displays finding small targets is a real bugger.... I'm going to try track IR for Xmas perhaps that will give an edge. Keep shootin & God Bless America....!!!

Just a stupid question... I'm sure there is a really good reason, but why didn't they mount the sensor on the outer most pilon??? Bank right or left the thing still gets covered by the AIM9 pilon. Only very gentile banks work for me otherwise just when I'm ready to lock on some part of the pilon gets in the way. The AIM 9 for me is useless for anything buy a helo... an SU25 will down me every time I try to to Air:Air with them. Can we dump the right most pilon??

In order to see my cockpit panel text in the radio area and TACAN ILS areas clearly I must have "TEXTURES" set to HIGH... Not sure what else this affects, but settings also has "TERRAIN TEXTURES" which I assume is for the ground etc... My feeling is to make visibility of everything in the cockpit a single setting and completely readable. If it affects performance then cut back on the outside stuff a bit... (but that's just an old blind man talking)

I totally understand the settings and everything else. But the changes seem to have taken place over the last couple of updates. Georgia is still running just fine but nttr is getting a really doggy, and nothing else has changed. I truly hope they optimize the new version before final release. I'm sure some of the developers probably know the reason for this slow down. I'll be upgrading the system shortly so it's not a major issue and 2.0 is still in beta test. But from when I first installed it to now the performance seems to be going downhill. All the updates to 1.5 have been fine and performance has not dropped at all. I guess this is just a heads up to the Developers.

When I finally installed more memory and a SSD for NTTR DCS2.0 I was finally getting performance close to 1.5 which is running smooth as silk on my system. But over the last few updates of 2.0 and NTTR I've noticed more and more stuttering in the frame rates for all the missions. I've even shut down unused processes etc in Task Manager but no real help. Has anyone else seen this ?? Please don't go into a long dissertation about my config etc..... just tell me if anyone else running Win 7 64bit on any GPU is seeing the same performance slow down happen over the last several updates. Nothing has changed on my system, 1.5 runs like silk and 2.0 was running great but now stutters like crazy.

Just installed the server on DCS 1.5. with left most 3-21" for the cockpit display and the right most 20" for the MFD's... got the main cockpit located on the 3 and mfd's on the far right. Everything works great so far... Did not need the apple printer bit because I'm not using touch screens or Ipods or Android.... I had this configuration working without the server, I am hoping your server will provide the working OSB's as well and perhaps a working CDU?? Big question???? How do I get the buttons on the exported MFD's to work??? Assume some cost?? How to purchase? Thanks in advance... great work...!!! in any case...!!!

Got it thanks.... !!! I have the server downloaded will try the install and see what happens... Will post back here with the results
