  1. They weathervane into the relative wind. Next you'll be claiming that a 20kt tailwind reduces airspeed by 20kts because that is where this kind of 'logic' leads. A crosswind does not continuously rotate an aircraft into the wind. When flying cross country with a crosswind, you just change your heading to maintain the correct groundtrack from point to point. Are you telling me you throw in yaw to keep your heading the same as the required groundtrack?
  2. These issues are all about the wind affecting NAVIGATION not aerodynamics. As you only fly simulators it doesn't really matter if you understand or not, but we might as well get things right for the benefit of others. Anyway, a plane flying in a crosswind will not weathervane into the wind, however, uncontrolled it will wander around a bit but not in one particular direction due to the movement of the airmass within which it is flying in in relation to the ground. To maintain the runway heading/groundtrack all you do is point the nose more into wind to cancel out the drift. You don't need to keep the rudder kicked in to do this. Simple stuff with simple explanations.
  3. The crosswind is irrelevant to the aerodynamics of the plane in flight, it only affects groundtrack/navigation. This is actually a very important principle, in fact it is arguably the most basic and fundamental principle of aerodynamics. Of course gusts will have an affect, but only momentarily, and by their nature they will tend to cancel themselves out over time.
  4. No it's doesn't work liked that. Once airborne the plane has no idea which way over the ground the air mass is traveling.
  5. Prove it by having the same payload in zero wind.
  6. I'm guessing you've never flown a real pane and don't hold a pilot's license. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weathervane_effect
  7. I think you are exactly rights, it's a trim issue due to an asymmetric payload. .
  8. http://www.physicsclassroom.com/mmedia/vectors/plane.cfm Note that the aircraft in the crosswind example doesn't weathervane its nose into the wind.
  9. How can a 50kt crosswind overcome 200kts of relative wind once airborne? The only thing the crosswind affects is groundtrack, it has no affect on aerodynamics.
  10. Once airborne there is no weathervane affect. Do airliners in the jetstream weathervane? Of course not.
  11. It's not me saying it. An aerodynamicly stable aircraft will only weather vane into the relative wind, they won't weather vane into a cross wind.
  12. Sorry to push the point, but there is zero tendency for an aircraft in flight to point its nose into wind. The only wind the aircraft sees is the relative wind (airspeed over the wings).
  13. Aircraft don't weathervane once airborne.
  14. I can't replicate that, so it must be related to your system somehow. Check your trim bindings.

  16. Seems fine. Wheels up, flaps up, a bit of trim and mine flies as expected. What are you seeing?
  17. Been flying 2.1.1 all morning and I haven't noticed this. Can you make a video of what you're experiencing and put it on youtube?
  18. Hehehe, rubbish in rubbish out, as they say. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/sQ2gLFkVmMo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ2gLFkVmM
  19. And a simple search on google would bring up the answer and YouTube videos on the subject. And there's always the manual.,
  20. Do what the real attack pilots do. You're out of the drone operating station and in the cockpit now :)
  21. Why do people want super powers within an accurate VR simulation? It makes no sense.
  22. You need to move the seat back. Double tap the mouse wheel button, then hold down the wheel and scroll up or down to move the seat forward or back. Double click mouse wheel button to return to mouse mode. I have these commands programmed into VoiceAttack and simply say seat forward or back and it does it all for me.
  23. I've had VR since the Rift DK1 and the WoW never diminishes.
  24. Well, good luck against a properly configured battle group with fleet denfense fighters.
