  1. Well there you go, the Navy really are different [emoji6] for Deck ops , I was actually taught to put the fpm on the threshold to check the glideslope and fly it down. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  2. +1 it needs fixed fast. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  3. Yea not sure we got the 2 working , in reality I never saw 3 chicks refueling we only ever did 2 at a time the center basket was reserved for big aircraft, so on the VC10 I never used the center one. The probe and drogue just needs a bit of tweaking, Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  4. Sorry Fri that may be the technique I remember from the cessna 35 years ago but thats not how you fly a fighter. Fighter Pilots dont use the autothrottle where I come from. We fly the Aircraft down the glidepath and the indexer tells us if we are fast or slow and we adjust the throttle to correct our AOA. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  5. No man not trying to do that, was trying to get them to fix it thats all. I refuelled of the KC135 with the BDA over kuwait now that was hard work but what I did notice that there is way more allowable movement area with Probe and drogue once you are in than with the boom judging by the area I had to keep the bda drogue in. I was 92-2002 the drogue setup may have improved since your uncle did it. I discussed it at length with a buddy who flew F16 and F111and we came to the conclusion that its easy to conect with the boom but harder to maintain contact. Never had a problem tanking in the turn tho I will confess I did spokes the basket once but I figure thats not too bad in 10 years. I really want them to trail the hoses when you say you are going to the tanker so you can actually go to the pre contact position. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  6. Sorry this request was an attempt to get the air to air refueling in the game more realistic. Maybe I should have started with the fact that I have 10 years of Probe and Drogue refueling experience in real life. Western Drogues have lights on them. Probe and drogue refueling is not considerably harder than than boom at all. We refuel in a turn a lot it is not a safety problem and is a required in real life thanks to Airspace limitations. On Western drogues there are marking on the Hose to show you how far to push the drogue in and where the ideal position is they just aren't in the game. I was trying to Make things better. Finally I have no clue wtf is going on with the SU33 refueling autopilot. IRL the tanker speed changes slightly up and down thanks to the air mass you are flying in and him entering and rolling out of turns. You are constantly adjusting the throttle for this just like close formation. I would love to her from a russian pilot to know if they really use the autothrottle and autopilot it as in the west we fly the jet completely manually for AAR.
  7. Aoa indexer is about AOA not the glidepath. The AOA indexer tells you if you are fast or slow. It stops you having to work out your approach speed for the weight of the Aircraft . I could fly on speed green donut but be below the glidepath all the way to touchdown. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Quote "There was never any doubt about the wing sweep not being air speed/mach dependent, but load dependent. " Sorry being a bit of a pedant and I have had a couple of glasses of wine, but I think you have an extra "not" in the sentence. Wing sweep is a function of speed / Mach like the Tornado and the F111, ( the two aircraft I am familiar with , flying formation with a B1 doesn't count). Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  9. OK did a bit of night AAR yesterday made a video . Summary as well as putting the drogue out so you can actually go to the pre-contact position can we have lights around the basket. They are pretty dull in real life but they do make it easier to spot the basket in your peripheral vision, all western drogues have lights for night work and surely the russians have something similar. Finally is there a way we can defeat the AAR autopilot mode if you watch the video you can see I constantly have left Aileron in to fight the Autopilot as the tanker is in a turn. Thanks Windy

Thanks good info, I was thinking it would suck if the dam thing put the wings back when you were pulling g in combat. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Hmm on the Tornado it wasnt added it was there from the start just not implemented in the RAF, the Saudis used the Auto wing sweep. It was really a question so it sounds like the 14 has a much better system. I am surprised that that the sweep is not a function of speed tho. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  12. There are a lot of instances where the DFCS has taken care of a lot of missing control surface irl. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

That may be bad as you have the equivalent of VNE and VNO for wingsweep, normally the computer works to VNO but a human will start the wings forward at VNE for the wingsweep, as the aircraft is gonna slow as you pull max g anyway. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

An aside and not sure if its even relavant but in the RAF they refused to activate auto wing sweep as it was to slow to react, so my question is can we Manually bring the wings forward when we enter a fight? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  15. Actually in the F3 they just changed the flood light lens for a green one and we operated like that while the Aircraft were gradually brought up to full NVG spec. It was fine for the instrument view under the goggles, and a nice cheap fix [emoji16]. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  16. Ok I need to be precise here, the Warthog stick top was great for fixed wing flying with the right combo of springs with the VKB gymbal , far superior to the TM gymbal. I just could not find a Helo combo that worked for me with the heavy warthog sticktop, you may find some setting that works for you. The gunfighter gymbal is great piece of kit and far superior to the Thrustmaster one. I would not hesitate to recommend buying the gunfighter to use with the Warthog stick top. 17. I guess the latter point of the discussion is that the more modern you get the less fidelity you get, so any Typhoon would involve even larger losses of fidelity. With this in mind we may do ourselves a favor by sticking to Aircraft that are OOS or soon to be. The same with the weapons. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  18. A10c has them too, slime coloured for NVG compatibility [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  19. I am sure they could get as close to reality with the Mica as they did with the Aim120 [emoji6] I agree with most here give up on the new secret stuff and give us the retired stuff where we have all the info. Tornado, F4, F104, All look great to me. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  20. Yep sorry should have added that but evwn without it wants to lean so i am waiting for the Pro, it cants forward about 10 degrees. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
  21. I will say from.my experience I would not advise using the warthog sticktop for Helo flying, you have to put the friction up too high due to the weight of the stick top. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Its no problem I understood what you were getting. Making a generalization like I did always brings out a lot of comments and can cause a little confusion, however, when I am helping my friends out with a bit of instruction its one of the things I tell them especially if they have been flying the WW2 stuff or flown cessnas etc IRL. Yea thats why I said 99%, in a swept wing aircraft at high AOA then rudder can be used to to augment the roll rate or in older Aircraft it may become the primary roll input like the F4, but these are the 1%, and are not really turn coordination. i made my comment because it is one of the differences that is taught when you go from a prop to a Jet during pilot training so I thought it would be helpful. 25. Yea he was like wtf cos it is uncomfortable as hell and no one ever pushes cos it only costs a second for a roll and pull, but for a guns jink if someone was really shooting at you, you may have too, I never did it in training. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
