  1. Hmm we were discussing this on our squad as when we I flew with NVGs we were not allowed to have them on, for take off or landing, as if you ejected it would break your neck. So my question is did the F18c have the explosive disconnect for the NVG's and were they allowed them on for Landing ? Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  2. Hmm in that case we do it very differently in the RAF as I spent a lot of time training back seaters in the F3 as I was the only one there to do it [emoji6]. Now I was referring to training on a Frontline Sqn so maybe I should have been a bit clearer. Now a RIO as you would call him would look at the tape afterwards but for instruction in the Air if he is screwing something up it was always better to fix it there and then and have another go on the spot than wait till you saw the tape later. 3. I am hoping that there is an F14 Pilot around the forum who will be willing to pipe up and give us a few videos (On the Sqn its the Pilots that train the RIO's ) At a minimum I am planning on doing some training for the members of the 16 AGR but it is based of how we operated the Tornado F3 so purely A2A. At least tho we will have a set of SOP's to help with Crew co-ordination and who has responsibility for what and who has the radios etc If we don't end up with a F14 pilots perspective I will happily publish some videos, once we have a couple of crews up to speed , may take a little while tho[emoji16]. 4. I have this running at home with 2 accounts I just have the multicrew Aircraft on the second account on another PC. The tricky part is that I have to use an online server that I am not running in the house as I can't seem to get them to see each other. It is great fun flying my Dad around in an l39 and doing some instruction from the back seat. When the F14 comes out I plan to buy one for the second account. Originally I used to fly people with them wearing the headset and me using the screen but as mentioned it's awkward and they have to look in the right direction occasionally, it's much better with 2 setups. 5. We saw the same thing multicrew then it was ok again. Runaway full nose up trim ,. Both back seat and front seat with different controls (obviously) but then it fixed itself after respawning. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  6. Try making sure that ASW is off. On my mobile rig if I don't turn off ASW then it runs fine then judders like crazy. I use the Oculus tray tool and after starting Oculus home I then start the tray tool and turn ASW off. That fixes the problem for me it seems to be connected to the system being unable to maintain 45fps. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  7. In ten years I fired a total of 5 missiles 3 skyflash and 2 Sidewinders. A2A gunnery I got to do once but that was unusual normally it was once a tour at least. Unfortunately the Balkans and then Iraq NFZ kinda hampered things. A2G gunnery lots prior to the Balkans and a couple of times a year after that. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  8. As long as bullseye is in the middle of the operating area then the difference is pretty negligble in operations. In Alaska and Northern Canada everyone would operate in True which you can select in the Hornet in the Aircraft data options. This would put the whole Aircraft into true. I am not saying it doesn't need fixed but it is not that big of a deal. If bullseye is 180 miles away however it becomes an issue as 1 degree is 3 nm for this reason IRL bullseye is kept close to the operating area if at all possible. 9. Would I be right in assuming you are referring to VR. At the moment it seems about right in regular view with TIR but due to the scaling in VR the Goggles take up the whole view so you can't see under them. This has however been reported multiple times and requires a different size NVG view for VR vs Screen play. So far no joy but I am hoping with the VR optimization on the horizon maybe we will get lucky. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  10. If you want a monitor you could try an Asus 43 it's not perfect but it has HDR and 4K and at $325 it's a deal. I have it and the Rift but I always fly in the Rift I can read everything I need and it makes close formation and combat spread way easier thanks to the 1:1 tracking. Input devices, I am with you on the VKB mcg pro ,just be patient they do come back in stock and the Virpil with the deskmounts is a good alternative if you can't wait. I have both and the Warthog throttle with MFG Crosswinds. For me this is the best setup tho somewhat pricey. I have my Saiteck Combat pedals and Warthog stick but the gymbal was well worn by the end. As to multiplayer I would get used to the radar and then it's not so bad. Labels are always on sorta in DCS it's called the black pixel but it is a game so I wouldn't let your score in multiplayer worry you , VR is the way to go and there are plenty of outfits that do co-op missions regularly which are always great fun plus you can run the missions semi realistically which you don't really see on the big multiplayer servers. 11. With NVG's on we just used to look below them to read the radar and the instruments as the HUD was focused at infinity soit always looked good. Unfortunately the NVG view in VR is too big so they can't be used correctly. It has been reported multiple times but that is why you are having a problem.
  12. Maybe I should have expanded a little which may help. The beam width of the radar is a couple of degrees so if you flew through it when your wingman had his CW on ( our backseaters could just turn it on and did so every time we did weapons checks as a systems check ) you would get a missile warning. Generally you would not see the lock from him, as if you were in front of him, it would only be briefly not long enough for the rwr to consider it a spike. In DCS for some reason an AI locks seems to blast way wider than 2 degrees but it appears to be somewhat better in multiplayer and the CW missile warning appears to everyone in a similar vein. It would be good if it could be tightened up and maybe it will with the new radar code. In reality a 2v1 semi active is easy as the 1 can only lock one guy. Unfortunately until this is fixed these RWR lock comments will still come up as it is frustrating and was one of my biggest annoyances at the start of my messing with DCS, but let's face it while we love accuracy the sim is a blast and maybe it is a correlation problem that would take too much processor time to fix. While the rwr lock indications may be annoying the Radars themselves are amazingly good lol. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  13. In reality this is why fighters fly combat spread or Battle formation, it stops interference from each other's radars and ensures that if a one bandit spikes you, you know who is clean. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  14. Actually when the semi active missile is fired the radar emits a Continuous wave (cw ) signal that guides the missile. It's the CW signal that gives you the missile warning. There is no increase in energy. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  15. Sorry I was meaning in the A2A role where you are using the radar to identify bandits.I think you are right the A10C would give you your bullseye. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  16. The only aircraft that works correctly is the M2K right now as long as bullseye is loaded into waypoint 1. You can then read the position of you marker relative to bullseye. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  17. When you make a call of a Target using bullseye it tells everyone where the target is no matter where they are where as Bearing range azimuth is only relevant to you. IRL bullseye is used almost exclusively unless you ask for a snap vector which is slightly different. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  18. Hope you don't mind me commenting but your 40 Aspect or a 140 Aspect as the Air force would say is too slack for a semi active missile. If you crank fully by timeout, you will be close to a 90 and in danger of losing the lock. As a rule we used to fly a 180 by 5nm or a 160 Aspect later in my career ( Air force is from the tail so a 180 by zip is head on ). Kudos on putting the pdfs together I would just tighten up the geometry. Then again if it is purely Aim120 then maybe I am wrong I am from the Semi Active era we would always be way tighter than a 140 Of the tail aspect.
  19. I just had this try adjusting the yaw and pitch profiles to get what you need I lowered the initial ramp so it's not so sensitive for switches looking in the cockpit but raised the outer ramp so I could look all the way back without it going mad. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  20. No you will get one activation after 30 days if they run out. At least that is what the system used to be. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  21. Left Right works I can see when my lead looks at me just you can't see up down for a head nod for instance. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  22. +1 I listened to most of the videos. I think while there is always chat, where a brevity word should be used it always is and was in the video. As Vampire said you got stamped on if you used an incorrect codeword, visual vs tally for instance. While I have only heard the Livestream it's good that Heatblur will be using correct brevity. I will say that there appears to be some differences in brevity as in nails vs spotted but maybe that's because I retired 16 years ago. However at the end of the day we are here to have fun so if ya can't remember the codeword better to say something in plain English than nothing. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks for the response as I said I didn't realize that anyone was in the back. So if memory serves you were in the lead Aircraft of the A2A pair. Are you the guy that called "commit" on the bandit, I was impressed it's been 16 years since I have heard anyone call that. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  24. Agreed with hand signals you can do almost everything visually. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
  25. But in that case you are stuck using Jester, I remember them saying there was a rudimentary autopilot for when you went into the back. I didn't realise there was anyone in the back. TBH if they can't show the back at this stage I guess we will be waiting a while. My other concern was that Jester sounded a little too good with his pick ups at 89 miles but it is very early days.
