My point was on the true Multiplayer servers where it's all PVP you will now have an AI element involved and given that there is a fair amount of finness to correctly use a radar it may be hard to correctly balance.

Yeah but Pilots don't use monocular NVGs. Not sure how ED works out what to fix but I get the impression that VR stuff takes a relatively low priority.

Strange as it's on my YouTube but it is private. I will see if I can get a copy without the music.

It won't probably won't work for a couple of days of release as the Aircraft has to be programmed into SSA -
I always use VR PD of 1.4 on 1070 Laptop and 1.5 on 1080. I can read everything I need to occasionally I will lean forward to see a video screen but it's all good. My biggest concern is that Jester will be too good at spotting shots and targets for fair multiplayer use.

Having spent several months flying in the Falklands I will purchase without doubt. I guess you are gonna add some airfields on West Falklands else it's gonna be severely limited. I may have missed it but are you going to include RAF Mount Pleasant or is this pre invasion. Some of you might like this video from my era.

There is no locking mechanism between the throttles. A friend with a couple of tours on F14 was telling me they they could use assymetrics thrust in visual combat but he found out of little practical use. For the OP I am pretty sure Wags uses a TWCS so it is a single throttle, I use the same thing on the road in VR and it works fine. Only trick is if you have a single engine fire and need to shut it down.

Lol Lucas yep I am that old.

To clarify a point slightly I am not anti BVR it's an inherrant part of A2A ( it was a large part of my job for 10 years ). I did one Flag where the debrief was a lot of fun (sometimes they could drag on ) it wasn't the guys that took all the Fox 3 that were animated it was the 10 guys that somehow ended up in a massive furrball. An unusual occurance with the advent of Aim120. I did have one similar experience on Drex's server with 4 of the Reaper guys. The fact there were no active missiles certainly contributed to us all getting into the situation and we all had a laugh about it on TS afterwards. To summarize for most of us that flew pre and post amraam . The inherrant limitations of the Fox 1 made for a lot more fun. Please don't missread me DCS is always training of course IRL I would have wanted to kill the bandit pre merge and would never want to get into a visual merge your life is on the line. Of course your F35 guy says he doesn't want to be in a visual merge he is not flying a computer simulation.

I was sitting with a buddy of mine a retired USAF F15 and F16 pilot and we got to discussing DCS and specifically Aim120's. We both agreed that the advent of the AIM120 while great if you went to war took a lot of the fun out of our training as visual merges became a lot less frequent. So why do I tell you this well DCS is a simulation, no one is actually gonna die, your pride may get dented but thats the worst of it. Without active missiles you are always gonna end up close and this leads to some great visual combat. I hear people complaining occasionally about the AIM120 performance in game vs reality well obviously we cant talk about that however my point is who cares. If you play DCS to experience what its like to fly a fighter the last thing you want is is an active missile, cos if you use it properly you are practically never going to merge and the merge is one of things all fighter pilots live for. So if I was running Ed I would forget about improving the AIM120 until it is declassified and you can do it properly and get on with releasing the F4 and the F14 and please make my NVG view smaller in VR so I can see under them like reality oh and if they worked in both eyes would be good too. Drex put together an excellent Dynamic Caucasus multiplayer server with no active missiles it is great if somewhat complicated when you 1st start. It is worth working through as it leads to some excellent fights a lot in visual merges. Try it and hopefully you will agree with me.

autopilot stabilization for aerial refueling
WindyTX replied to berk.kp's topic in Su-33 for DCS World
Excellent so we can AAR without fighting the dam AP. -
Hopefully when ED fix this they can reduce the field of view in VR so we can use the NVG in a realistic manner. One eye monocular nvg operation is crazy I have great respect for anyone who can operate in that manner.

My experience was 16 years flying in the RAF including 10 years on the Tornado F3. I never flew an Aircraft that came close to having the crazing we see in DCS. Not sure if anyone in ED cares to comment but some Aircraft had some terrible pseudo reflections introduced a while ago, I am thinking of the UH1 and they were subsequently toned down to a more reasonable level ( As in you can see the ground through them ). While I understand the graphics designers concentrate on Flat screen play used by the majority, VR head position seems to magnify the problem of the crazing and thanks to the integrity check we need ED to fix it if like me you spend most of your time in Multiplayer servers. Please note this problem appears to be magnified in VR if you are using TIR you are probably not seeing the same amount of crazing. VR only uses about half of you screen area you see on the monitor and magnifies the crazing problem in doing so.

I saw the post on Facebook but dont use facebook so I am posting this here apologies if its an over post. In real life the NVGs do give you a circular view imagine using a pair of 1x Binoculars and you get the idea. I use VR all the time tho and while I see on the screen the circular view it is too big in VR so covers the whole view. In real life you look underneath the goggles to see the screens ( Or radar display in my day ) unfortunately with the way VR is set thats not possible. Is there any way to fix this as in have it where the NVG view is smaller if you are using VR.
-
Yep the fixed reflections are the main problem in the L39. In the Harrier and crazing is unrealistic I know because I have a fair amount of time in Western fighters and I never flew an Aircraft with a canopy that was anything close to as bad as those in DCS. It could be that VR accentuates what ED intended, either way it's really annoying and breaks the immersion so a clean canopy option would still really be appreciated.
-
L39 is almost unusable from the back seat in VR the pseudo reflections are so bad. Crazing on the Harrier is also really bad and watching the Livestream the F18 looks bad. I know your programmers appear to be very attached to these effects but no Western Aircraft has a canopy that is this bad. Please can you give us a clear canopy option so we can fly with a realistic canopy in VR if we mod it it breaks the integrity check. Ok this is an update I just did a check in the Harrier and by moving my head towards and away from the canopy you can see the difference. Problem is that the massive amount of crazing is from your normal head position.

Probe and Drogue refuelling. How does the latch work?
WindyTX replied to xray20's topic in Military and Aviation
You just throttle back a touch and when the Hose reaches full extension it will disconnect. If you go back too quickly irl the hose will lock in it's current position and the probe will disconnect , safety feature in case you need to do an emergency breakaway. Hope that helps. -
nope both have all 3 installs
-
Any Idea why my Laptop is downloading 20GB for the update from OB while my desktop is downloading 49GB. Both were updated to the latest and they both have the same modules ??
-
The Canopy crazing is way overdone but it seems a common theme in DCS as developers want to show the glass is there. If it were as bad as indicated it would have been replaced ages ago. Love the module but hate the glass. Almost unusable at night in some conditions obscures your view completely.

RAF Alpha Helmet circa 2000 I can see the brow of the helmet looking up Just a little but no restriction left or right.
