Need Help Tweaking the Graphics!
MadTommy replied to MonsterZero's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I assume you are seeing frame rate drops when your field of view takes in a lot of terrain that includes towns/cities. This is to be expected on any system. What does it drop to and from what? The setting 'Scenes' controls the number of buildings etc. on the terrain, but setting this lower that max should really be avoided at all costs if you are ground pounding in the Su25. But lowing this will reduce the fps hit. -
Is their a full SU25T sim for DCSW on the cards ?

One week with DCS Warthog, TM HOTAS and TrackIR5
MadTommy replied to dr_After's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
*fingers in ears* la la la la la la la la la la la.. I don't want to hear what you are ALL saying.. please don't make me spend 300 notes on a new stick! :D -
One week with DCS Warthog, TM HOTAS and TrackIR5
MadTommy replied to dr_After's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I am struggling with the whole concept that the TM Warthog is 'the' only decent option. If i only flew the A-10c, then i might be more inclided to agree, however i fly a massive variety of airframes.. fast jets, choppers, WWII & WWI kites, the whole she-bang.. the x52pro fits that role great. I have no issues controlling the complicated functions of the A10c with it, its second nature to me. Hell i flew the Blackshark for a year with a Logitech 3D pro and was happy! :D Bottom line, if my x52pro broke, i'd likely buy another simply so i don't have to learn how to fly my large stable of airframes with a new stick. I just don't believe the Warthog is that good! TrackIR is another story.. an absolute must have! -
Maybe having it only online without the required server capacity was not the best marketing move! The thought of all those players with their knickers in a twist does make me chuckle though! Hopefully its be in bargain bucket soon and i'll try it then!

One week with DCS Warthog, TM HOTAS and TrackIR5
MadTommy replied to dr_After's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
...3 years later i'd have my TM Warthog! Simming is not my only expensive hobby, i'm just about to blow $3,000 on a new camera! When i break my x52 i'll see how tempting the Warthog is! (ohh that joystick looks close to the edge of my desk..) :music_whistling: -

I don't doubt that.. but €350 is too much for a joystick for me. I'm sure its the dog bollocks, but that is a lot of money for a joystick. -

TM Warthog is just too expensive! x52pro is sufficient.. and a 1/3 of the price. -
Would this game be recommended to someone who has never played a Simcity game and does not have tons of time? May sound a silly question.. but it looks tempting to me and i'm not sure why. i'm not burdened with the history of the franchise being ruined by EA, i don't mind the online requirement, but i am worried it is only suitable for people with tons of time to play it. Will my town just get overrun by neighbours who play for hours on end? Cheers. edit: just looked at the reviews on Amazon.. ouch.. every review on the 1st page gives it 1 star..not so tempting now.

Thanks Kuky, it's great to know the state of play. I hope we are not waiting another 2 years for this to be addressed! -

What language is the hdr.fx file is written in?

Does anyone know what language is the hdr.fx file is written in? I'm trying to investigate issues seen here and am trying to make some sense of the language of this file. Thanks. -
Colours, Bloom & Sun all messed up in multi-monitor set-up.
MadTommy replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Monitor Support
As i suspected.. it is not the multi-monitor setup itself.. its when the resolution set in options does not match the resolution used to to render the 'center' viewport. This means the whole multi monitor system is broken. ED please look at this.. these issues have been going on far too long now. It would seem to be a pretty simple fix.. everything needs to align from the resolution set in by the 'center' viewport, not by the total resolution set in options. These show 3360x1050 resolution working, where center viewport = screen.width, any other setting and it breaks. (the broken ones above for example center viewport = half screen.width) -

From this post (Bloom out of control..) thread it has become clear the issue actually lies in multi-monitor set-ups. Please see images below: Single monitor bloom: (100% stock game files) Single monitor sun: (100% stock game files) Multi-monitor bloom: (multi-monitor is the only tweak/mod) Multi-monitor sun: (multi-monitor is the only tweak/mod) As far as i'm aware there is nothing wrong with my multi-monitor luas, they all work fine. And have done for years, I did write the guide on multi-monitor set-ups several years ago. I'm pretty confident in my settings. I don't believe my lua is really relevant. I would however be very interested to see if the issue highlighted above are also present for people who use the stock 3 screen set-ups that comes with the game. As ED have proved to be reluctant to support custom multi-monitor set-ups in the past, if the official set-ups are also affected they might act on this. The issue might be that only 1/2 of my total width resolution is used to render the cockpit / world and the other half is used to render the displays. (2 monitor set-up). I suspect multi-monitor set-ups that use 100% resolution to display the cockpit/world may not suffer this issue. (when i have some time i'll have to test this) Cheers.

Just done a quick test... Single monitor bloom: (100% stock game files) Single monitor sun: (100% stock game files) Multi-monitor bloom: (multi-monitor is the only tweak/mod) Multi-monitor sun: (multi-monitor is the only tweak/mod) Pretty conclusive :( Mustang your tweak helps fix the bloom for us multi-monitor users. Should i raise a new bug thread for the multi-monitor sun issue. Or is this a known issue raised elsewhere. Unfortunately i get the impression ED has no time to support multi-monitors users. :( Looking at these closer.. everything with regards to lighting is screwed up in the multimonitrs set-up.

Hmmmm I'll test tomorrow using single monitor and default files. But i have a pretty simple 2 screen setup that i have been using in a similar fashion since the release of BlackShark & the 1st beta of a10c. Has something changed recently..i've had very little time in pit in the last 6 months or so. Thanks Mustang.

No other mods at all. did a clean install yesterday. Only files i've added are related to my multi monitor set-up.. (PVI_init.lua, CDU_init.lua & ViewportHandling.lua) These are the only altered files in DCS World. Weird. Thanks anyway.

I just checked JSGME installed it right.. that is direct from the installation directory.
