Sorry Tyger.. haven't used that trigger since it used to be unreliable. The testing involved to prove it works reliably is just not worth the hassle, as it seemed to work sometimes and not others. I now either list all units with an 'or' condition and if that is not feasible find another way to get the desired result. I was keeping an eye on this post to see if you'd get an answer. Sorry no help from me. -
Also to note it goes by the lead vehicle.. even if the group has ELPRS equipped units and the lead is not the group will not show up. I have this mistake by having a LAV25 lead, even with all the other vehicles ELPRS equipped the group would not show up.

You can drop laser guided bombs without using the laser though. Obviously you loose accuracy and the ability to 'track' moving targets.... but you can still drop GBU12 etc without having a laser. Either CCIP or CCRP using the HUD as SOI/SPI. I appreciate the suggestion for editing lua files.. but i want my missions to be universal on a stock build. -

In theory he should be able to use any munitions without a pod. By using the HUD marker as the SOI (can't remember the correct term for it, little square on the HUD you can move and set SPI from to use for CCRP..) Without the pod he does spot things.. but only when close, and far more like a player would be able to spot things. I havent tested it thoroughly.. i.e i haven't sent him after target and such like. -

Ran a brief test... removing the targeting pod is defiantly the solution for my needs.. certainly stops the wingman spotting everything. I need to do further testing to see how it affects other elements of gameplay. Probably increase the skill level from average to high/excellent to make up for his lack on pod. I'm now very interested to try other flights without a targeting pod.. the all seeing recon / afac & SEAD flights are also far to good at spotting everything. Such an obvious solution to something that has been annoying me for ages...:music_whistling: :doh: Will report back. -

Thanks Druid, but for me such a drastic action is not really a goer. I like missions to be somewhat dynamic where your allies interact, making all enemies invisible to your coalition makes the battlefield very sterile. I just don't want to have a superhuman wingman calling out targets like a nutter. (even set as 'average'.) (i haven't had a chance to try him without target pod yet.. I'll be interested to see how will he does acquiring targets etc etc without one.) Such a potentially obvious solution i cant believe i didn't try it earlier. But i've tended to make MP missions in the past. -
I'm getting a bit annoyed with how AI wingmen seem to be superhuman spotters. For example, in a present mission i'm working on, my wingman takes off and at about 500ft he starts spotting individual Zu-23 units at 15 miles away, in a mountainous area. There is no way any real pilot would be able to do this 5 seconds after takeoff! :( He is set to 'average' skill level and as far as I'm aware this is the only setting that can adjust his ability to spot threats. Anyone got any ideas how to dumb down this ability. EDIT:.. hmm i never thought about removing his TGP Pod... that should do it.. LOL (will test it)

Seeking advice of mobo & ram for i5-2500K

I have found some Ripjaws CL7.. on dabs.com. I think i'm gonna stick to Gigabyte, they have always done me well. i wont touch Foxcomm.. had a nightmare with one of their boards & they wouldn't RMA it. Anyone think it is worth getting more than 8 GB Ram? That seems plenty to me, probably more than needed. I have no interest in RAM drives or similar, i have an SSD. I'll do some digging into cooling solutions..thanks for your advise. -

Thanks for taking the time to help, I do have a arctic cooler 7, might be a bit cheap, will consider replacing it. But its kept my present oc cpu cool. I've been using Gigabyte for ages, hence why i went for that brand.. i know Asus are also good. I'll have a read up on your suggestions. 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz RipjawsX Series for Sandy Bridge (8-8-8-24) is the closest to your suggestion i have found so far here in the UK... Sorry what do you mean by hybrid systems? -
Hi, I'm planning on an upgrade to get the most out of DCS. But with so many options I'm seeking a bit of advice. The one thing I'm fairly set on is Intel Core i5-2500K CPU. This seems to be the best option in regards to performance vs price. I plan to overclock it. I want quality kit that can overclock well, but want good value for my money. I need a full size board..SLI support, plenty of USB ports, 2 full PCI slot. I was considering these to go with it... Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard [GA-Z68XP-UD3P] for £129.98 Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit for £64.99 What do you think.. any advice is greatly appreciated. There are a lot of people who are very excited by this upcoming release. We don't all live in your personal bubble. Have you read the news post concerning it? Its an internal tech test project that has been decided to be release to the general public. Consider it a bonus module. The next fast jet is still being produced, no one is demanding you buy this module, what's to complain about? (probably a waste of my time replying.. but hey ho.) -
From the wording of the news release, it sounded to me like other 'classics' would follow. I suppose it depends upon the success of the P51 release.

Thanks mate, they are nice to use as a template ;) I set up a new profile using some of your ideas last night. Very interesting, especially switching the zoom functions about. But i must admit having the longitudinal zoom on my slider rather than TrackIR was difficult to utilise.. defiantly needs some tweaking and getting used to. I'll need to fine tune the axis on the HOTAS to limit its speed and range i think. I appreciate the video.. always interesting to find someone else using the same hardware in quite a different way. I'd love to see them integrated into one piece of software. There are so many duplicated files between the modules. -
It would be ideal to be able to have some control over this. Check box to enable unlimited ammo or a entry box to be able to set the reload time. I don't want uncontrollable unlimited ammo either.

The 'best' needs to be defined, best for shear performance or best for value & performance? Shear performance is gonna be the most expensive money can buy of either Nvidia or ATI. Not sure what that is presently. Personally i'm using a Nvidia GTX480 and it runs the games flawlessly at 3360x1050. -
Pretty please with sugar on top make the Mission Editor Ruler Tool more useful! Make it a toggle, so it remains visible until turned off. Allowing you to place units at precise distances rather than only measure distance and then have to guess / use photographic memory to place units at correct distances. Add scale markers that dynamically change scale for large and small measurements. ?

After running into a few problems with a mission i'm making involving an infantry fight i decided to do some testing. Here are the results for anyone interested. * All testing was USA firing on Russian targets. Infantry will not fire upon heavy armoured units. Tanks & APCs. They will fire on armoured trucks & Boman/BMD1 Infantry will fire for 2:30 minutes and NEVER relaod. Infantry have a range <600m no matter the skill setting. BUG: There appears to be a bug with the USA infantry where they will not fire or be fired upon. I've been unable to figure it out but it defiantly exists. Tests were carried out in clear perfect weather, no fog, flat terrain. Some times it seems the infantry had no AI logic to make them targets or to fire. Very annoying. Seems to occur randomly.
