So any way like most here on the forums i love the simulation mode to death there's no doubt about that and eating and sleeping have gone on hold since its download release thats for sure.
but the other day i found my self wanting to just mess around on the computer with little too no brain input required.
i don't really have other games on the PC I'm a dedicated flight Sim man
Any way i did the unherd of and fired up the game mode and had a ball i tell you its a hole heap of fun that i never expected.
the combination of the great graphics and feeling like I'm in a Rambo movie was great then i plugged in a Xbox style control set it up and played it console style.
i love the hard core BS sim and id never give that away
but i must say if you havent tried the sim mode try it out just for fun its a great way to kill half an hour when the time is just not there to play BS in all its glory.
any one else crossed the dark side and tried the game mode yet?
you want to slow right down to under 30km/hr than engage the auto hover. the copter will trim for the hover.
for changing the nose direction i use the rudder softly and remember to counter the rudder when centering the heli's direction when turning this way. the trick here is to be smooth and gentle, i leave the AP on.
if I'm going to do a rocket attack i maintain forward flight (if u have trouble aiming with the rockets try turning on the director mode just for the rocket attack)
the more civilian stuff can be basic and some less popular aircraft and heli's look more lockon- ish im sure this will be updated over time.
but the things that are modeled well look fantastic :D
i find its better not to take the SAM launch head on, better to put the missile on your 3 or 9 etc and drop flares every 2 or so seconds.
speed helps as well not a nice feeling when your in a hover and a MANPAD sends a missile your way :joystick:
i might try this when i get home today but i have landed on the tarmac many times no prob but will try again. u can land any were in the game is good fun. try landing on a moving bus now that's a challange
are u sure Ur not dropping to fast?
this is covered in the read me file i'm sure.
but any way u just have to remap to the throttle axis easy
id recommend using the saitek software if possible to set up the game controls in the long run
have u put the mods (dont unzip or un rar) in the DCS add on folder in modman directory?
than add the mod / then install the mod, it should say mod installed then it will work
i have a bit of trouble finding the joysticks etc in shops over here at times but
bought my x52 through these guys they offer a great range if your having trouble finding what flight controls u need.
any one else know of some where good in Australia?

ah yes i remember the days when u buy a flight sim and u get this great book to go with it :)
i collect my flight sim's and boxes (im a nostalgic type ) so when it comes out i will also buy the boxed version but i had no issue paying for the download version.
kinda reminds me when net banking came out no one would touch it now its the only way, buying games will be standard this way in the future I'm sure
i think the west is to involved in the console area now days, remember the windows 95 days (ah the memory's:joystick:) there was an unstoppable amount of games coming out.
maybe its cause of piracy, not sure
thought it would be a cool idea if we all posted pics of our desktop set up or home built cockpit that we are using for our beloved flight Sim's.
i'm using a 25.5" Hp touchsmart with X52 :)
