  1. thanks. will do.
  2. I know you are trying to help but your words are a surreal poetic stream that do not seem to address my question. Kittens, aunties, kebabs? Presets for communication with tower-? Im setting up datalink and the dl switch will be used to select which preset will b used for datalink.
  3. Following WAGs video, 1) comm page: set origin ID 2) comm page: select preset, then edit 'preset edit' (B6) - now I can select unit ID (my group), call sign, and 'PRIMARY' My Preset 4 has the text 'FM2' in it as default. Boxing 'PRIMARY' brings me to a frequency selection table. If i selecta different frequency (for example FM1 SC') I jump back to the 'preset edit' page and now 'FM1 SC' appears under the word 'PRIMARY' If however, I unbox Preset edit, I come back to the main comm page which says FM2 in PRESET 4. FM1 seems to have not been selected. How can a primary channel be selected when it is not shown on the preset on the main comm page? I CAN add FM1 by going to the main comm page, selecting preset 4, and selecting FM1 from the top row (T3). This pops up a selector box at the bottom right where I can specify FH,FH/M,SC using B4 to B6. Now preset 4 has FM1 and FM2. But if I hit the Primary button, it still says FM1. In fact I can assign any channel to primary and the the preset will still only show FM1 and FM2. Ultimately, I can add a whole bunch of channel frequencies to preset 4 using the buttons in the top row. But then how can I delete them? It seems preset 4 has those channels forever unless I assign one of them to another preset.
  4. Very nice. Additional topics to consider adding: creating, sending, receiving firezones jtac/afac w nine line trainer (there already is such a simple mission in user files) buddy lasing for an AI
  5. Thank you good fellows. I wasnt waiting for the cleared hot
  6. There are many generous members and talented mission makers here and i was using the bfm trainer by sedlo which has a jtac https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3331603/ but i am doing something fundamentally wrong. I do the nine line and create a target at the coords, set it as acquisition source I see the targets and I ask for laser on then I ask for 'spot' I action the laser hellfires which are default set at channel A (1688) I fire and then hear 'abort you do not have clearance' The missile overflies the target and misses totally. What am i missing?
  7. I recently saw this video https://youtu.be/xtOeenDK1O0?si=3KNxRxFyLhk9bFEC where drones and units are created in mission simply by placing a little circle on the map. Is there a lua file needed for this?
  8. @NeedzWD40Thank you. I am unfamiliar with the difference between FCR and RFHO( radio freq handoff). I thought they are one and the same. Could you elaborate? BTW, this article: https://premium.globalsecurity.org/military/library/budget/fy1997/dot-e/army/97hellfire.html states: 'Longbow flight crews frequently elected to override the system's automatic mode selection logic and fire missiles from a masked position. This powerful technique can significantly increase the helicopter's survivability, but has not been validated with missile firings during developmental or operational testing' That article strictly discusses early kilo model hellfires that were SAL. So I assume it is referring to the preference of the crews to go into LOAL mode, unmask, and lase for the last 10secs of flight. But it seems that philosophy was extended to the LIMAs as well.
  9. @Raptor9 thank you. So is the 2500 meter limitation valid for both targetting modes with the LIMAs? (FCR and TADS w George) Any suggestion for when to usde LOBL inhibit?
  10. From Wags videos, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeovzU78uVg I see that targets on the FCR can be attacked simply by firing LIMA hellfires with the FCR doing all the work. So what is a use case for asking george to select a target and giving him consent to fire a LIMA? (This was the way LIMAs could be used before the FCR-presumably, George was identifying the target with TADS, lasing to get ranging info which is then handed off to the LIMA) With FCR targetting, LOBL is used for targets less than 2500 meters, and LOAL for targets at greater ranges-this means the hellfire has to use its own radar to find something for those further targets. Is this limitation also true for Hellfires launched by George using the TADS? ALSO, what is the benefit of LOBL inhibit? isnt LOBL a more accurate solution since the target is provided to the missile before it leaves the rail?
  11. Thank you. I had the 476 vFG - Air Weapons Range Objects folder in the tech folder. Turns out you have to open that folder and drill down to 476RangeTargets folder and move THAT into tech folder. Now I am remembering all my other noob errors. Who knew that even playing DCS is a perishable skill, let alone fying the aircraft
  12. after a long hiatus I came back to this mission but got an 'add target' error when starting. see attached pic
  13. https://www.microcenter.com/product/468721/thrustmaster-twcs-throttle good condition slides reconditioned with nyogel $50 + shipping I am East coast , US
  14. When i press the DIR btn i have to select from one of the waypoints in the route. How does one select a target point as a direct waypoint?
  15. Unfortunately i cannot add a target point to a route. So how can i quickly enter its location into a waypoint? having a list of targets that show up on the TSD coords list is helpful. But how can i leverage this info for navigation?
  16. I see a red X, a white diamond, and a green cross. From their behavior, I guess that the white diamond is where the cyclic is positioned. The red X seems to be where the cyclic is commanded to be by the FMC when you release the force trim button. and I dont know what the green cross is. I cannot seem to find this explanation in the manual.
  17. in the AH64D special options: What are we ramping up?
  18. on p416 the manual states: "TADS Store Target. If George (as the CPG) is tracking a target with the TADS, this command will direct George to store a Target point (T##) using the STORE/UPDT switch on the TEDAC Left Handgrip. If George is not already lasing, he will momentarily fire the LRFD to get accurate range data before storing the location as a Target point. This command is only available when the Player is occupying the Pilot seat." However, I cannot find 'TADS Store Target' as a command in the George AI Helper menu. Also I cannot find it in the George infographic in the manual: So how do I command George to store the target? EDIT: I found the command as a single instruction in the AH-64D pilot command list. So that means I can command George to do something even when the George AI menu is not active?
  19. Imagine a ‘start track copy’ button above the ‘take control’ button in the menu you get when you press escape while playing a track. It puts you back in the track playback. Then when you press escape again the button reads ‘save track copy’. Selecting this saves a short track with the desired endpoints and puts you back in track playback
  20. even something simple so I could clip out a brief section would really help when trying to communicate a specific aircraft behavior. Sometimes, I have a 3 hour track file but just want a 10 minute segment from something that happened in the middle.
  21. Lightly used Gunfighter Mk3 pro grip, base, twist adapter, extension and desk mount. i moved to a FFB setup so this is now for sale. $400 plus shipping
  22. Is anyone using ‘automatically enable fingerlifts’ in the special options? It tends to make overtorquing more likely .
  23. from p124 of the SU27 manual Step 5 Once the target has been detected, you next need to lock it up. To do so, place the TDC over the contact and press the [Enter] key. If the target distance and infrared signature permit, the IRST will initiate an STT lock. The target will then be framed by a circle on the HUD. so it seems that STT lock is not unique to radar. But then again the manual could be wrong. In step 1 of target acquisition the manual says Step 1 To search for targets at long range, select the long range [2] mode, activate the IRST with the [O] key and set the appropriate range scale on the HUD and HDD in km [+] and [-]. Select the best missile for the range and target with the [D] key and confirm the selection on the HUD. But no matter what I do, I cannot change the range in the HUD.
  24. indeed, I found this mentioned on p22 of the manual. So just to clarify my 'understanding' of stealth attacks, the target does not detect the laser so when I 'lock' the target in STT mode with IRST active, there should be no warning in the target aircraft. But when I launch an R27 t/ET they should get a launch warning so it is not really totally stealth. or is it like a tunguska which can launch withoout a warning?
