I think that you can only see the same skins if both of you have the same modded files installed.

Can anyone else confirm my findings? I tried this on Lockon (yeah I know it uses DX8 but I thought give it a go.) and it seems to have solved the DirectSound issue out (the after burner sound in Multiplayer without using alchemy) and it seems to be running smoother in game. Basically same setup as with DCS, right click the Lockon icon, click properties, click the shortcut tab, and enter -dx9 to the end so it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\LockOn.exe" -dx9 I would appreciate any feed back on this soon.

You guys having the problem were you can't share your ports (i.e 10308 for lockon) on a network and have an outside pc try to access the game? If so this I believe is not an ED issue, nor is it an issue with your router! I have tried all options on this and the only thing I can find that causes the problem is Microsoft when they made Vista and Windows 7. Check the forums for both these OS and you will see that they won't let you share ports for some strange reason. The only work around is to associate the game with a different port.

Less than 50fps and and you're not happy? With the system I've got I can acheive a steady 30fps+ in DCS, I've had near enough 60FPS in cockpit on the 104th DCS server on my current sustem whereas with LoFC I can acheive max 25 in cockpit looking around and 30 looking straight up at times while online on the 104th Lockon Server (even if I'm the only one on the server). Granted this may have something to do with the size of the mission, time of day, locality. Or it could just well be the aging DX8 engine currently in use. I do know that microsft have made some SERIOUS changes to Directx which may have caused some issues (but that's just a theory I have). Either way, LoFC 2.0 will out perform, out gun, out match and thrash anything 1.12 has to offer.

How is there concerns about the performance of the DCS engine? It runs on DX9, the current version is designed to work with multiple cores, on most systems it runs smoother than LoFC 1.12x, I think you might also find that most people moaning about the performance of DCS have systems that are virtually antique, and are probably in need of upgrading. I am personnaly looking forward to the release of 2.0 because it'll finally unleash the power that 1.12x has been trying so hard and for so long to get. Yeah you have really talented modders out there that have extended the life by creating FPS mods and mods that streamline certain aspects etc. But you can only do so much and it's time for an update.

1. I'm not too sure about this but if it's not in the real F15 then you won't get it in game! 2. I beleive this is set server side. 3. Have you tried calling the awacs using the hash key menu, or get yourself VAC (Voice Activated Commands) and programming that so you can call awacs with your own voice?

If I can run run LoFC 1.12b AND DCS Blackshark on windows 7 then I'm sure LoFC 2.0 will work! Hell I've even got HalfLife 2 and SSI Flanker 2.0 working with Win7. lol

If you can't "add" more slots, tell me how simmod managed it with their A10, or how walmis did it with the F15?

Have you had a look over at lockonfiles.com for the Hud font's? You can do this anyway with LoFC by editing your meinit file in your lockon\ME folder.

I like the way you conveniently left out the part i have highlighted in bold red, no doubt hoping nobody else read far enough to notice that i am right to have my reservations. What would solve this issue is for ED to say whether or not they do use this container technology that uses the drivers, because Star Force are literally using their marketing abilities, knowing that most people will assume a false sense of security if they do not read the instructions fully, which of course, helps to sell their product, but them the small print gets them out of any legal implications if they are found out. And, who doesnt read the manual? 99% of people. If somebody actually commits a yes we do or no we dont use the drivers then they are commited to it. I think what you are talking about here Shrike, is ONLY applicable to programs that use Starforce (such as Lockon) and not to Blackshark as this uses an entirely different security system than Lockon does. Hence asking for a serial key for both versions of the Sim. As far as I know (ED back me up on this) if you only install DCS and not the current Lockon, you won't have the security drivers (that scan your FC cd to make sure it's genuine) installed on your as the disk never needs to be scanned!

This is total and utter BS. I have 2 i repeat 2 holdon maybe you didn't get that I have 2 LiteOn CD/DVDrws in 2 machines. 1 a two year old IDE and the other a 2 month old SATA, (both were bought from Argos) and I have NOT had ANY problems with either of them and I have both DCS and Lockon and have installed and re-installed both on my 2 machines several times. My girlfriend can confirm this as she has ripped quite a few cd's onto her system and I have played several music cd's on mine even straight after installing either Lockon or DCS. I don't know whats going on with your system mate, if a lazer burns out it's proberbly the drive itself and NOT DCS. So next time, replace the drive and leave Eagle Dynamics out of it!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

My understanding is that Alchemy from creative is no good for Realtek. Instead you will need to use their version from http://www.realtek.com/

I dunno if this has already been mentioned but one thing I would like to know is if there is goning to be a place for us in the community where we can sit and chat before we jump on a server and fly. Like what we do now with Hyperlobby.
