  1. Some airframes are more noticable than others but yes, this is what you feel... but also G, so... depending on how much G, it can override the feeling of AoA. Does that make sense?
  2. It's not that it simulates one over the other... its that it simulates one or the other depending on the situation... as example, in the F-14 you feel G come on at high speeds when pulling on the stick, but at low speeds the buffeting that happens in conjunction with the visual representation on screen is also felt. G is felt starting at the thighs and moves up the back as you increase, buffeting is felt everywhere, and buffeting is kind of aircraft dependent as far as feeling goes. The F-14 buffets a lot at high AOA, so you really feel it, other aircraft maybe not so much but still there. Does it help yes, very much so in some aircraft over others. The F-14 I keep coming back to cause I feel its one of the better experiences (and probably the one I've used the seat the most in) because I can feel what G or AOA I am at in a dogfight and hold me speed much more accurately without having to constantly look at the speed indicator.
  3. All of the above use the same software for DCS. AOA and G are not the same values, you can experience high G at low AOA and low G at high AOA depending on speed. That said, the Jetseat and Realteus seats provide what feels more like an accumulation or sensation of both but depending on scenario. You feel the slow increase of G build up starting at the bottom of the pad and working it's way up your back as you increase the G. You feel the G predominately more on the left in a left hand turn and vise versa on the right. In jet's like the F-14 where AOA buffeting is a huge indicator visually, it is also a large indicator in the seat as well, more AOA = more shaking. Hope this helps... As for which one is better... from a functionality standpoint they are pretty much the same. Realteus however hasn't been able to deliver, and it still seems like a lot of customers are waiting or have contacted their CC companies for a refund. I purchased a jetseat some time ago (The one i own is no longer available) and between that version of the Jetseat and the Realteus seat I was sent for review, Realteus comes out on time as far as comfort... but I hear the newer Jetseat is better but I cant comment first hand.
  4. Ya usually this means a snapview for center got saved and you need to either overwrite it or just delete the snapview file ... I believe its in saved games\DCS\config\view\server.lua, inside you will see contents similar to ViewSettings["P-51D"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 CockpitLocalPoint = {-1.500000,0.618000,0.000000}, CameraViewAngleLimits = {20.000000,120.000000}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,90.000000,0.500000}, CameraAngleLimits = {200,-80.000000,90.000000}, EyePoint = {0.025000,0.100000,0.000000}, ShoulderSize = 0.15, Allow360rotation = false, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.050000,0.450000},y ={-0.200000,0.200000},z = {-0.220000,0.220000},roll = 90.000000}, }, }, -- Cockpit Chase = { LocalPoint = {-6.250000,1.800000,0.0000}, AnglesDefault = {0.000000,-0.500000}, }, -- Chase Arcade = { LocalPoint = {-21.500000,5.618000,0.000000}, AnglesDefault = {0.000000,-8.000000}, }, -- Arcade } Either delete the code for the F-16, or dump the file completely
  5. Having used both, I would recommend both. Currently testing the ACE pedals for a review, no issues thus far. Both have cams that can be swapped out to adjust the center detent. Th ACE pedals sit on carpet a bit more stable because of the rubber padded feet, but both slip around and may need some solution on your end if not setup against the wall.
  6. That's all Export API, only place I've ever seen UserMarks exist in is mission scripting or likely some API internal to those who have access like 3rd parties (AKA, Viggen and F14 User Mark used as Waypoints).
  7. The only ones ive ever seen are in the mission scripting API, nothing for external.
  8. "Hey what are you doing!?"
  9. Look at this https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=212725 to see how its done.
  10. You can do it but you have to edit the lua for each of the components for each of the planes that share the MFD names and change the names. Then after every patch you have to go and edit it again :)
  11. Hey everyone, I wanted to give an update on the WINWING HOTAS review I was working on. As of yesterday I sent an email to WINWING explaining that I am no longer going to do the review. The HOTAS I have is no longer the HOTAS any customer will receive. The fact of the matter is that WINWING sent me what they are claiming now to be an Engineering Sample. From looking back at prior announcements and conversations, WINWING originally sent the reviewers what they at the time were considering a production read unit. The same unit that would have gone to customers. However, we (the reviewers) found a long list of issues both with the hardware and software on these units. WINWING worked diligently to try and fix all the issues and send out notices to us that they had been addressed. In a couple cases they shipped us parts (springs and cams) and in at least 1 case (my own) they sent me a 2nd stick base due to an issue when trying to adjust the Center Stop Device on the original base they gave me. With all of these issues and fixes however, WINWING is now claiming that we now have "Engineering Samples" and not the production units. Now, is this true? I guess it is NOW, but this was not the original intention... However I get it, things changed, and hopefully for the better for their customers. The issue however is that I now have a piece of hardware to review with that still has issues, but doesn't actually reflect the final product. So, because of this I've come to the conclusion that doing a review would not only waste my time, but the viewers as well. Why watch a review on something that technically isn't real, or isn't what you would be getting if you order the product? Not only that, but based on all the problems there is no way I can make a review that sheds any kind of positive light on the product itself, aside from maybe its potential. I do not feel that this would be fair to WINWING, myself or any of my viewers, so, there will not be a review. This post is in no way intended to show as a bad mark on WINWING's part. I do think they have potential. I do think they are a very customer oriented company. I do think they want to make a good product and have enough passion and ambition to do so. But, I also think they may have jumped the gun a bit, maybe rushed to market and shouldn't have given the reviewers the responsibility to be their testers. In the time I've been playing DCS, I've seen about 4 hardware companies come up from nothing and I've seen pretty much each of them go through teething issues similar to WINWING. Hopefully that's all this is, they learn from their mistakes, learn what works and what doesn't and ultimately it helps make their company better from it. I've offered to return all products sent to me by WINWING and thanked them for the opportunity to help them test and provide feedback as I did. I regret that I cannot do the review, especially after all the time I put into it already, but I think this decision is better for everyone involved, I just also felt it should be transparent to you guys as well. -Jabbers
  12. Not sure I'll have time, but trying to get something.
  13. YA but both flaps and gear as well as zoom could be stuck on another switch, I've already done this myself, sticking idle detent on a switch is silly
  14. Understood, and agree... but WINWING has stated they left gear/flaps out because it is on a separate panel they are selling. My response was in relation to the singular question that was asked about the finger lifts and idle detent... which is why I quoted him, nothing more, lets please keep it on topic
  15. Never said there were flaps controls. He asked about the idle stop.
  16. Yes this works, just like the warthog.
  17. I based my decision to mark my channel as "NOT FOR KIDS" because I wouldnt let my own children watch it. But my channel has the occasional adult humor joke rolled in... so probably for the best
  18. You would have to use the Oculus mirror if its supported. There is an option with it to turn off the distortion https://developer.oculus.com/documentation/pcsdk/latest/concepts/dg-compositor-mirror/?locale=en_US
  19. OK, I've held out for a while on talking about this, but here is the deal from my side of the fence. I'm at a standstill on this review and here is why. We (the reviewers) were given a version of the product that was intended for testing and feedback. I'm fairly certain some of the reviewers were not fully aware that while we were given the HOTAS for review, the hope was that we also gave feedback to fix issues that would possible occur before the production units went out to the pre-order customers. A long with this, it was assumed we would do reviews as well on the units we were given. Long story short, I have had quite a few issues with some of the equipment. I reported them to WINWING and supposedly they are fixed or mitigated in some fashion. Now, where does this put me though for my review. Unfortunately, I can only review what I have in my hands. But, what I have I not only had issues with, but its also not the final product. Now WINWING claims these issues were address, and maybe they are. But I can't tell you for certain one way or another, and I can't be sure that these fixes didn't cause some other issue as a side effect. So, from my point of view, doing a review became silly. I would be reviewing a product in a state that is not what is going to be received by the pre-order (or future) customers. So, I'm not sure what to do. I've expressed all of this to WINWING and will let them make a decision on the direction they want to take (I even offered to return all of the products to them). It is true I wrote my review, its ~11 pages long, I've spent time taking over 300 detailed photos, spent about 10-12 hours taking various A and B roll footage, have roughly 150+ hours of time playing DCS,IL2,BMS, etc with the HOTAS to get some usage out of it, I've torn the stick, base and throttle apart multiple times for various shots and adjustments... it has been a long process and I was nearly to a point where I was going to produce a video. Then, one final problem happened that made me throw in the towel. The problem wasn't a show stopper but the accumulation of it all was. Because of the price of this product, the depth I go into when reviewing products, and the number of components involved in this review....I have spent more time on this review than any other product I've ever reviewed. So, it really is heartbreaking to want to give up on it. Now, this isn't to say the product is bad, or WINWING is a bad company. I am not at all advocating such things. Most companies new to this or really any industry have teething issues, and that's what a lot of this feels like to me. But, having reviewers be the testers of the product is just wrong. Maybe I should have said no, done the review and moved on, but that's also not how I like to do things. I love the idea of giving feedback especially in a niche community like this. I feel it helps everyone. This niche can be hard to get into for vendor. A lot of people here for better or worse could be considered elitists. These people tend to have a strong voice and let everyone know their opinion and how if something isn't 100% perfect we should 100% discredit it. I've held off writing this because I don't really care for that style of opinion forming as is toxic and unforgiving and unnecessarily detrimental to a company in a niche market like this. With all my dealings with WINWING, it appears to me they are a hungry company. They are very open to feedback, not taking offense when given, and open to ideas I and other reviewers I know have offered. This is at the very least a good show of faith that they care, want to make something consumer driven and a real desire to succeed. Now before you say "They could have been putting on a show for you since you are reviewing their product" I've thought of this as well. I've experienced this in at least 1 other company, and this feels a lot more genuine, along with the fact that the feedback was immediately address says a lot. Hopefully this helps clear the air as to my own lack of review video... I may or may not do a video update on this in the future, but I am currently awaiting a response from WINWING.
