  1. Very helpful video! I‘ve read through the early access guide but I didn‘t manage to release a single flare from what I was getting there. This short clip helped me a lot - thanks!
  2. I observed the same issue. I had a symmetric loadout of 6 CBU-99s (2 on each outboard station and 2 on the center station). In my first run I opted for 4 bombs to be released. Of course I expected that would drop the bomb pairs on the wing stations. Instead, it dropped the pair on the left wing and the pair on the center station. It appears there is no balancing logic implemented yet, provided that exists in the real plane after all...:smilewink:
  3. That‘s why the iPad and stuff was invented  Seriously, such a 900+ pages manual is exactly my use case for the ipad since I‘m often looking for a very particular item and that is why I love the search function. Saves me hundreds of hours ... and the world a few trees :music_whistling:
  4. That plus you can use the TM Warthogs TDC button for the lock so slew and lock can be done by the same finger - just like you do in the Hog
  5. Before you can turn the lever you haave to pull it out of the locked position. IIRC you use the mouse wheel to do that. When the lever is up, you can turn it. Don‘t forget to push it down again or you get a WINGS UNLK caution.
  6. Skatezilla, are we missing a „yet“ in your response saying it is not supported by tha F/A-18C (if you happen to know)? I would be surprised if a „DCS-native“ module would come without the viewports adequately encoded for mult-monitor setups. Talking about final release, of course. But when you say that you managed it for the A-10C....well that is indeed pre-set with the MFCD left/right options. So if it would work the same way for the Hornet as for the A-10C, I guess we’d be more than happy. If not, I do not understand your reference to what you did on the Hog. Thanks for clarifying in these busy times :smilewink: Christian
  7. Thanks a lot, CrimsonGhost! I‘ve received your PM as well!
  8. Not bad. Where did you get that empty template from? Seen that a couple times now and I would love to replace my humble drawings by that one
  9. IIRC max 600 knots... at least that is what I recall from my NATOPS reading
  10. I wouldn‘t be too worried with your rig. Running the sim in medium settings I‘m pretty sure you‘ll get a good performance as long as you don‘t do VR or anything way beyond full HD resolution.
  11. No, it‘s definitely not you alone. That is exactly the path I‘m going to take as well. And with the fact that the entire domain of carrier ops will be a first for me in DCS I will be pretty busy just learning that part for the first weeks before I have time to dig deeper into sensors and weapon employment. After all, it is a study-level sim and not Arcade style... and that is exactly why probably most of us love DCS so much, right? :smartass:
  12. Sure, I‘ll do as soon as I have time to start up the sim. Might be a few days though.
  13. SSD for sure. Keep in kind you will even save another minute with an SSD just to boot and get Windows started :smilewink:. Sideeffect: contrary to your current habit, you may then have to prepare your coffee or grab your beer BEFORE you start your computer :) Maybe you get a nice deal so you can even save a few more bucks and then look out for additional RAM. I purchased 8GB DDR3,1333MHz few weeks ago for roughly 60$.
  14. Yeah, seems like. I never tried out VR gear anywhere but since my pockets aren‘t deep enough to purchase an adequate rig for VR, I won‘t even try. Probably just a too painful experience to see how much more immersive VR would be at a time when I couldn‘t afford it:smilewink:. I became a father few months ago so you can imagine where the money goes  But in a few years time, maybe.
  15. Hi all, since DCS 2.5 was made available as OB was reading a lot in the forum about the performance issues and what kind of hardware might be required to run it smoothly. I became quite concerned since my rig is really old with only a few upgrades done over the past 10 years, namely a new video card in 2012(!) and an SSD drive in 2016 (see spoiler for complete spec). So I stayed with 1.5.8 for a while and decided to read further about people‘s experiences. I then figured out a pretty cheap upgrade option for me would be to double my RAM from 8 to 16 GB (about 60$). So I did that and thought I‘d give the 2.5 release version a try. I have to say I was quite surprised how well 2.5 did on my nowadays really low-end system. I flew a few times now with the Viggen in the new Caucasus map, using one of my selfmade SP missions (quite a big one with more than 60 aircraft, some big SAM sites and quite some ground units, many of them moving). Of course, I didn‘t go with all graphic settings maxed out. However, visibility and textures are set to High, Deferred Shading On (to fully enjoy the new speedtrees during low level flight), resolution 1920x1080, MSAA 2x. Preload Radius is at Max and tree visibility at 70%. My FPS are astonishing and even steady at 40-45 which is more than fine for me. So this message is to encourage users which have similar old rigs like me that 2.5 is nicely running even on a low-end system like mine! Well done, ED! Cheers!
  16. Sorry, I meant the early access (EA) version.
  17. Awesome, looking at that loadout (Sparrow) it appears the photographer catched the early access version for us:smilewink:
  18. I believe the F-16 is not comparable here since it does not operate from carriers where like (guesswork) 50-100% of your fuel is spent flying overwaters with no real emergency landing sites around. That‘s quite different with land-based Vipers and other single engine jets. And even though it is absolutely true that engine reliability has come a long way, still there is a reason why the civil aviation has something like ETOPS (or EROPS if you wish) in place when planning to go long-range without any suitabke landing sites reachable within 1-hour. Just check websites like avherald.com and you will find out how many engine shutdowns occur every week. And we‘re not talking about high-performance afterburner engines that are flown in extreme conditions... Also, I doubt that is the second engine that drovevthe F-22 costs up. There is a mulitude of reasons, one which you already mentioned is the largely reduced fleet size. Would there have been 200+ B-2s built, the price for a single one would be far away from the 1 billion, mainly because you simply divide your development and certifications costs by 200 iso 20.
  19. Pilot rescued - mission accomplished! Great mission again! And again I learned sth new on the Hog: I‘ve never used the ADF mode of the UHF radio to home in on a beacon. Really appreciate this campaign - a must for all Hog drivers! Thanks again Baltic Dragon - you really understand how to create an exciting campaign!
  20. Thanks Baltic Dragon for your instant response! I‘ll fly that mission tonight and report back if all went well. The briefing already made me pretty excited! And thx for your congrats. Yes, having a daughter is lovely for sure. So fingers crossed for you and your spouse for the upcoming birth. What a miracle it still is! Thanks again for your kind support! Cheers
  21. Hi all, I purchased this campaign quite a while ago but I never really spent much time with it (the Viggen release and more recently the birth of my daughter came in the way :smilewink: ). Now I started flying this campaign seriously and I have to say it is the best I ever played. So much action and fun. Big thank you to you Baltic Dragon. Now my next mission is exactly the one this thread is about. I read the problem is fixed but I should mention that I still fly it in the latest 1.5.8 release version (where there are no updates anymore since 2.5 OB). So my question is: Is there an update available for the 1.5.8 release version as well or can I fix something myself? Thanks!
  22. Agree with the last 3 posts. If you want to know EXACTLY what you will get before you buy then you better read EXACTLY what the disclaimer says. Also, this is just one of many official videos and in many of the other ones you do hear in game sounds. And again, it‘s WIP anyway...
  23. After watching it I thought the same about the sound. But then I thought I will spend 99% of the time inside the cockpit and enjoy the simulation and I won’t watch it flying by all the time. So not having exactly that soll nd is totally acceptable for me. I certainly prefer ED to spend their precious ressources on a proper representation of the flight dynamics, systems and weapon systems. But again, I totally understand why some folks would have prefer true in game sound.
  24. That of course brings up the question if „our“ Lot 20 Hornet and its radar will support that capabiluty:music_whistling:
  25. it‘s an interesting discussion but could we please refrain from getting personal? Thank you!
