  1. Very true Pilotasso, sometimes you must take a step backwards...before progress can happen... Anyway, I'm not trying to say one leader is better than the other, but if i wanted to; there are all kinds of silly graphs and stupid surveys to add links to.......the problem with graphs and statistics is they are so easy to manipulate, and manipulation of public opinion is the only way these leaders get elected.
  2. Not that I care for American politics; I'm Canadian. But from an outside perspective........ Didn't Bush rein for the most prosperous times of American history for 50 years?...and is condemned for the 'military action' in iraq... http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=ny_gdp_mktp_cd&idim=country:USA&dl=en&hl=en&q=us+gdp Obama is in power for one year and spends more money on the Auto/Bank bailout than 6 years of war?? http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/ Now, who would wager the next conspiracy will be that Obama is controlled by the Banks and Auto companies, and does there bidding...( a la Bush and big oil...) If I'm out of the loop and that conspiracy is already rampant, just let me know! :pilotfly: The moral of this story is: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
  3. Bit o' KY goes a long way!
  4. I may have to try installing it again and give it another chance. I do remember the flight models in the helos being a little 'floaty', kinda like FSX...but it was nice to have main/tail rotor interaction. The Dodosim was built as commercial software, and I dont care if they did it with plugins or mods....its fantastic!
  5. I own X-Plane9, and to be honest I didn't find the sim to my taste. I only flew the helo's, and I liked the torque induced yaw, but didn't bother keeping it on my harddrive long enough to give it a chance. On the other hand, you seem to have extensive knowledge of FSX, the Dodosim and its dynamics, and XPlane... But even with all of that...I still hold to my opinion the Dodosim is better. (and my opinion cannot be WRONG because it is only that - an opinion.)
  6. That bk117 looks nice and sounds interesting; but I doubt it can hold a candle to the Dodosim 206 in FSX as far as flight dynamics are concerned.
  7. Are you using DX10 preview...if so that could be the problem. I use DX10 preview, and some of my runway textures are messed up, but i just live with it.
  8. I have been slowly cracking away at the Hardcore SP on xbox.....but the MP does not work for me...unless i play coop. very sad ending to a game with loads of potential.
  9. If i didn't get the 3RROD yesterday, i would be playing OFDR right now. Love this game...although i agree that a huge patch and a buttload of new multiplayer options are needed. True, it is not in the same league as Arma2, but I cannot play Arma2 on my xbox, and I refuse to play an FPS with a mouse and keyboard...just a personal preference.
  10. You can download FTX Tasmania for free from their site, that should give you an idea if you want to buy the rest of Australia. Also, they are coming out with NorthAmerica soon. Airplanes: A2A's P47 with Accusim expansion [payware] ultra realistic!! Lotus Sim's L39 Albatros jet trainer [payware] also realistic! Dino's F-14 [freeware] pretty good, goes well with the freeware AI Carriers. Helicopters: Dodosim's Bell 206B [payware] best helicopter flight dynamics ever made!! (yes, that includes the BlackShark.) ...soon they will be releasing their Huey. There are also many airports and sceneries you can find for free... I recommend looking here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/forumdisplay.php?f=44 and here: http://fullterrain.com/freeware.html and here!: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?app=downloads& EDIT: Oh yeah, the MSFFB2 works fine in FSX, even with Vista, but there is one small glitch: If you feedback is not working properly at any time, you must go into option and turn it off, enter the sim again, then go to options and turn it on again...not sure why it does this or why that works, but I have to do it sometimes.
  11. Sure, what time zone you in? @ Stickers: Great review, just want I wanted to hear. There was a lot of bashing on the official forums at first...but it seems to be calming down now. I think the majority of people bi*ching after the first few hours of release are going to complain no matter what shape the game is in.
  12. I'm getting the 360 version tomorrow i hope; will be the first 360 game bought in almost a year! I've been hearing the AI is actually very intelligent when used properly, and staging attacks is a lot of fun.... Cant wait till I'm off work tomorrow!
  13. CE Mikemonster, you have misquoted me again...and worse, you are making long-drawn conclusions and telling me what I believe. I don't know if it's crack or pot in your pipe, but I suggest you put the pipe down, it must be hot by now. EDIT: didn't have time to finish my post, so I thought I'd come back and add an afterthought. I probably shouldn't have made the pipe comment, so I'm sorry if any offense was taken...but I do not appreciate having words put into my mouth and overreacted...with potty mouth. Anyway, this is an age-old arguement about war and suffering, (when is war too much/too far?) I dont feel like debating it...and I should have known any small opinion would have been grossly twisted.
  14. I personally use the d3d9.dll here: http://www.mediafire.com/?2kmqyczn4zw You may need to go to Boris' webpage and sort through different versions that work on your particular system and still give you night lighting. http://boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/index_en.html Also, it may be a good idea to keep trying the newer versions as they come out, they may improve framerates.
  15. The last time I checked, Manchester was not in a war zone; Not the same thing at all... I said: "The only persons I hold responsible for the deaths of those civilians are the Taliban. They stole the tankers, they got stuck, and they brought the civilians to gather the fuel." Nowhere do I state or argue that 'civilians deserved to die.' Neither do I state that Coalition Forces are blameless...(I don't believe in using the word 'blame', but much prefer terms like responsibility and accountability.) I hold the (so-called) men of the Taliban responsible for this incident. To ask the obvious question; could the coalition forces have used a better method to have disabled the Taliban? I don't know, I am not a commander...but I know a firefight would have yielded the same results because the Tali's had RPG's. I'm a little suprised that many debating this incident know so little facts about what happened there...For the record; The Tali's drove the trucks accross a shallow river crossing and got them stuck. They went to the village for 'help', and used the threat of death to get it. They also promised free fuel for those willing to come and push the trucks/lighten the load of the trucks. This happened at 2:00am local time. Another fact: Innocent loss of life is taken very seriously by the Coalition Forces and the UN, and great effort is made to minimize civilian casualties. Its a shame the Taliban doesn't share these values; and a bigger shame that some believe the Tali's are a modern day Robin Hood, sharing fuel and RPG's with all the poor children suffering under occupation...
  16. Yes, I've had this problem. I resolved it by changing the commands in Blackshark to be [Application+PGDwn]...the Application key is also known as right Windows key I think. (to the left of rightcntl) Then program the SST software to match the keycommands in Blackshark!
  17. Yes, I think we can all agree that war is hell. This is an unfortunate incident no matter anyone's personal views on the war... I'm afraid any more comment on my part would be in bad taste.
  18. I hope that when you refer to US Army & "Co.", you are cognizant that Russia is included in "Co." http://csis.org/files/media/csis/pubs/pm_0246.pdf http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/russia-threatens-attack-on-chechen-ally-afghanistan-716250.html I would guess that Russian casualties (caused by Chechen's extremists trained in Afghan camps) have been avoided by the US & Co. intervention in Afghanistan...of course there would be no definitive proof. The same could be theorized of European countries.
  19. The only persons I hold responsible for the deaths of those civilians are the Taliban. They stole the tankers, they got stuck, and they brought the civilians to gather the fuel. Setting aside the outrage from those who are NOT there; This is a war zone.
  20. To make my MSFFB2 work properly in FSX, I check control surfaces and ground surfaces...and uncheck stick shaker, crashes and retractable landing gear. I fly helos a lot and have to do it this way, or i get a 'stiff' resistance. Also, if you find you are getting that 'stiff' default feedback in game, you can go to options, and disable all feedback...load into the game, and reenter options and enable those two forces and it should work properly....like turning it off and on again i think. Try that, it may solve some of your issues...if it does or doesn't I'd like to hear about it, because I am thinking of getting a G940!
  21. Thanks for the review....but it sure sounds like your FFB is messed up...and from what I've heard there is a box to tick in the software to reverse the forces...(from Logitech_Mark on one of these forums!) It doesn't sound like you have taken a very deep look into the software, hopefully you can adjust your FFB settings to be more suitable.
  22. Yeah, and rex2.0 is a free update to those that purchased rex...so i was happy about that. Also, if you check their website there are a few free goodies up!
  23. I would turn with the rudder, and when you are pointing in the direction you want, hit the Trim button. That will save your heading to the autopilot.(be careful not to input on cyclic, or you may disturb your hover.) Also, i'm pretty sure that the TurnonTarget command sends a signal to the AP to use rudder to turn.
  24. The Dodosim's flight model is just as good, if not better than the DCS:Blackshark. It's only worth the money if you dont mind not shooting at anything, and just fly and explore. It's a pretty simple startup, but acts and fly's like a REAL helicopter should. One experience I had flying with some buds over DeathValley, flew over the peaks of some mountains, (I had real world weather, and REX2.0 turned on) and my speed was right under the Velocity Never Exceed limit. On the other side of the peaks, the wind direction changed, blowing towards me over my rotor and (exceeding the VNE now) my rotor went into a retreating blade stall.....I was instantly flying with my left side banked toward the ground and had to instantly correct to avoid trees. (yes, they are collidable) :joystick:
