  1. Great work, Miles! I think I'll be reaching out for this soon.
  2. Did not see any posts about this company yet, so thought I'd let y'all know about it. http://www.feelthree.com/ I think this is a very innovative design for a motion sim platform. The design keeps costs much lower than other platforms, and range of movement seems much larger than most. The units can be had for as low as $2800 USD.
  3. Happens quite often here as well... Haven't found any workaround for it.
  4. I managed to merge two sticks without mounts. i used the 4 pillar-like holes on the corners of the stick, bored them out a little and ran threaded rod thru both sticks with nuts to tighten them together. this required a little filing on the bottom 'feet' of the sticks where they come together, but was very solid! I'm sorry i cant find my old pictures of this...
  5. EDIT, sorry bad links to pics. Here are a couple pics of the projector running in 1080P. The screen size is 68", the pj throw distance is 9' 4" right now, and I sit around 7' from the screen. When I have time to finish the room, those distances/sizes will be a little higher, but its a temporary setup for now. So, I have no problems seeing gauge numbers, or text on web pages.
  6. I have just tested the HD20 i picked up today and am really impressed. Couldn't be happier... bought it used off craigslist for $600!
  7. I'm currently shopping for a projector, will hopefully pick up an Optoma HD20 today. (1080p native) Right now I have the BenQ MW712, which will do 1080p, but is 720p native, and I've found the picture quality is lacking in DCS, FSX, and movies I've watched. If I wanted to spend a little extra money, ($1500 cdn) I would get the Optoma HD33 which is 1080p, 3d ready.
  8. Thanks for the info! After taking the two MSFFB's apart and planning how I will join them, it almost seems like they were meant to be attached to each other! Very excited to start this project this weekend. Unfortunately I will only have a little time over the next 3 days, and then I'm off to work for another 2 weeks.... so will likely have to finish then.
  9. Thanks for the answers! I will definately be using a counterweight after giving it some more thought. What is the FFB testing program that you are using?
  10. Peter, Thanks for the inspiration! I was going to do something a little different to increase the force in my MSFFB2, but I am going to use your method now. Be ready for many questions! Two questions now: Is the counterweight absolutely necessary, or can you do without it? Is the force enough to keep your Cougar handle solid when trimming in BS2? (its hard to see in the video)
  11. Agreed!... TIR also has a robust user base that I'm sure will see to the continued sales and development of TIR6 and beyond. I know that I will be getting a Kinect for PC, and if it happens to replace my TIR4, then so be it. I'm already trying to figure out where to mount the kinect... difficult because its a large peripheral.
  12. Glad to see the trimmer for forcefeedback sticks is back to normal!! I can fly again!
  13. The kinect also has a mic, so there is a possibility of voice control as well. I would much prefer to NOT have to wear a clip to have my head tracked, I'm anxious to see if this will work as good as TIR4.
  14. I also have the "pitch-up after trim" problem here with my MSFFB2... very dissapointed. Also, there doesn't seem to be a "\DCS Black Shark 2\Config\producer.cfg" in my install?! I couldn't find it while checking to see if FFB was enabled.
  15. Congratulations on 100 pages Trigger!! Eagerly waiting for pictures of your force trim mechanisms!
  16. Very true Pilotasso, sometimes you must take a step backwards...before progress can happen... Anyway, I'm not trying to say one leader is better than the other, but if i wanted to; there are all kinds of silly graphs and stupid surveys to add links to.......the problem with graphs and statistics is they are so easy to manipulate, and manipulation of public opinion is the only way these leaders get elected.
  17. Not that I care for American politics; I'm Canadian. But from an outside perspective........ Didn't Bush rein for the most prosperous times of American history for 50 years?...and is condemned for the 'military action' in iraq... http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=ny_gdp_mktp_cd&idim=country:USA&dl=en&hl=en&q=us+gdp Obama is in power for one year and spends more money on the Auto/Bank bailout than 6 years of war?? http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/ Now, who would wager the next conspiracy will be that Obama is controlled by the Banks and Auto companies, and does there bidding...( a la Bush and big oil...) If I'm out of the loop and that conspiracy is already rampant, just let me know! :pilotfly: The moral of this story is: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
  18. Bit o' KY goes a long way!
  19. I may have to try installing it again and give it another chance. I do remember the flight models in the helos being a little 'floaty', kinda like FSX...but it was nice to have main/tail rotor interaction. The Dodosim was built as commercial software, and I dont care if they did it with plugins or mods....its fantastic!
  20. I own X-Plane9, and to be honest I didn't find the sim to my taste. I only flew the helo's, and I liked the torque induced yaw, but didn't bother keeping it on my harddrive long enough to give it a chance. On the other hand, you seem to have extensive knowledge of FSX, the Dodosim and its dynamics, and XPlane... But even with all of that...I still hold to my opinion the Dodosim is better. (and my opinion cannot be WRONG because it is only that - an opinion.)
  21. That bk117 looks nice and sounds interesting; but I doubt it can hold a candle to the Dodosim 206 in FSX as far as flight dynamics are concerned.
  22. Are you using DX10 preview...if so that could be the problem. I use DX10 preview, and some of my runway textures are messed up, but i just live with it.
  23. I have been slowly cracking away at the Hardcore SP on xbox.....but the MP does not work for me...unless i play coop. very sad ending to a game with loads of potential.
  24. If i didn't get the 3RROD yesterday, i would be playing OFDR right now. Love this game...although i agree that a huge patch and a buttload of new multiplayer options are needed. True, it is not in the same league as Arma2, but I cannot play Arma2 on my xbox, and I refuse to play an FPS with a mouse and keyboard...just a personal preference.
  25. You can download FTX Tasmania for free from their site, that should give you an idea if you want to buy the rest of Australia. Also, they are coming out with NorthAmerica soon. Airplanes: A2A's P47 with Accusim expansion [payware] ultra realistic!! Lotus Sim's L39 Albatros jet trainer [payware] also realistic! Dino's F-14 [freeware] pretty good, goes well with the freeware AI Carriers. Helicopters: Dodosim's Bell 206B [payware] best helicopter flight dynamics ever made!! (yes, that includes the BlackShark.) ...soon they will be releasing their Huey. There are also many airports and sceneries you can find for free... I recommend looking here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/forumdisplay.php?f=44 and here: http://fullterrain.com/freeware.html and here!: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?app=downloads& EDIT: Oh yeah, the MSFFB2 works fine in FSX, even with Vista, but there is one small glitch: If you feedback is not working properly at any time, you must go into option and turn it off, enter the sim again, then go to options and turn it on again...not sure why it does this or why that works, but I have to do it sometimes.
