DCS Mods structure : How to create your plugin from scratch
Tango replied to Alex Okean's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
+1 Best regards, Tango. -
OK.... so what needs to be in "MyInterface"? Can you post a complete example? It would be much easier. :) Best regards, Tango.

Is the following valid for DCS?? #include "stdafx.h" BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HMODULE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved ) { switch (ul_reason_for_call) { case DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH: case DLL_THREAD_ATTACH: case DLL_THREAD_DETACH: case DLL_PROCESS_DETACH: break; } return TRUE; } __declspec(dllexport) int __cdecl initialize(void); __declspec(dllexport) int __cdecl release(void); __declspec(dllexport) void __cdecl get_interface(void); int initialize(void) { return 0; } int release(void) { return 0; } void get_interface(void) { return; }Best regards, Tango.

Hi Alex, What we would like is this. A small, complete, working DLL code example that does nothing but handle the landing gear lever of the cockpit. This is implemented in some form in every aircraft in DCS. What we need is the interface between the model, sim and our code. We need to see what happens when the user clicks a switch in the cockpit, what call(s) are made back to our code? When our code does something, how do we write back to the sim (e.g. switch on the green gear down indicator light in the cockpit?). This is the information we require. Once we know how to interact with the sim, we can ask more specific questions and provide more specific feedback to you. :) Best regards, Tango.

Hi Alex, Thank you for the reply. In your first code example, it appears you are setting pointers to the functions pfn_initialize, pfn_get_interface and pfn_release. Is pfn_get_interface a callback that is the entry point for ALL functions of the system? e.g. the model will reference certain things, and the code will call this function with some parameter from the model? We need more information on how to implement the function. I'm confused as to why you want to know which features we want adding, when we can't even get started with a basic DLL that works with DCS?? Best regards, Tango.
-
That would be great, if they could just send us one.... :D The question is not too broad - there is a minimum number of calls we need to make, and no doubt a few functions the sim expects to see.... what are they?? Until we have this info, we are grounded. :( Best regards, Tango.
-
Which functions do we need to call, and which exports do we need to create? Best regards, Tango.

Hi Alex, How do we create our own DLLs containing the systems programming?? Best regards, Tango.

1st GOW campaign.. No night missions at ALL???!!!
Tango replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'd love to see a Falcon-style dynamic campaign engine. That would add a whole new dimension to the sims. Best regards, Tango. -
Seems rather variable. :( What are your sys specs? Best regards, Tango.

OMG. That is bad for a heli sim. :( Best regards, Tango.

My sig was edited as I had it listed line by line. Now it is over one/two lines (depends on screen res), courtesy of a mod/admin. :) Lukas - I think this sig is in contravention of copyright! "blah blah...you will not copy, reproduce...blah...in whole or in part...blah blah" - it says so in the end titles of the movie it came from, that I can not name for legal reasons, due to other legal reasons. :music_whistling: Best regards, Tango.

Hi, I get nice perf out of BS1 (at least 30 FPS), and this is critical to flying a high-fidelity helicopter such as Black Shark. I know the graphics engine was updated in BS2, along with other enhancements, and wondered what the BS2 perf vs. BS1 perf is like? Best regards, Tango.
-
Bad performance in BS1 on a fairly high-end pc!
Tango replied to kristenburnout's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi, I have a similar rig to you (check my sig), and get similar performance. I run DCS:BS at 1600x1200, with high AA (though interestingly low or even no AA makes very little difference). Does the sim run SMOOTH? I find this is critical. It doesn't appear that effects or number of objects in view really has an impact on perf either. I had low perf and was trying to find why after I first installed it. I think it is related to view distance/trees/water, but not sure. It never goes below 30 now, even in a busy MP environment, and it remains smooth even when several MP helis are popping flares, which is more important than raw FPS, IMHO. Can you post your graphics config, and state how the drivers are configured? I'm running driver version 11.7 IIRC. Best regards, Tango. -
Hi, I have the Russian DVD version of DCS:BS, and would like to get the Russian version of DCS:BS2 but I seem unable to find the download for this? Is there a Russian version available? Best regards, Tango.

The Warthog doesn't require calibration - that is the beauty of the position sensing system! You do not need to flash it either - DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY as you risk creating problems/bricking the unit(s)!!!!! I have a low 1000 s/n unit and no probs. Perfect out the box, and not flashed. Best regards, Tango.
-
@Bucic: No probs! Any and all feedback is useful! @ycodryn: Thanks for the feedback! "Real" owners of the stick (i.e. not reviews/anon comments ;) ) have no probs so that is great! Best regards, Tango.
-
Bucic: It is a buy/no buy scenario - I'm not looking at anything else. I can't find anything about button failure, so it is a BUY. Thanks for the link! Best regards, Tango.
-
No problems here! Got an early #1000 s/n unit. Never flashed it. Best regards, Tango.

Post MotherBoard Specs Of Bricked TM Warthogs Here Please
Tango replied to twobells's topic in Thrustmaster
Point is, you did flash it. General rule: never flash the firmware on anything unless you absolutely must because of an issue you are encountering that is definitely fixed by changing it. The #1 reason is that you are risking whatever it is you are updating. Best regards, Tango. -

Tango replied to twobells's topic in Thrustmaster
How many here with "bricked" units did a firmware update and are omitting this tiny detail? I have an early unit (low #1000 s/n) and no issues at all, I de-power it every night, and I have NEVER flashed the firmware either. Regarding the lights staying on after shutdown - this very much depends on whether the motherboard keeps the USB hubs powered or not. May be user-configurable in the BIOS. Should have NOTHING to do with the units failing. Sounds like a few have been updating the firmware with a bugged version and this is the real problem. Best regards, Tango. -
Lack of buttons - no probs. Are the buttons reliable? No issues? It can be programmed via the TARGET software, if you weren't aware, so have shift functions etc... :) Best regards, Tango.

The New Flight Manual--Coax Propaganda, Maybe?
Tango replied to Smokin Hole's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
"Single rotor designs are best" because that is what "we have experience with" is a pretty poor argument. Yes, experience is good, and initially may be a benefit over a new design, but if you don't try another design, you will never advance. Imagine if they argued that the cycle is better than the car as we have more experience with them!!! Best regards, Tango. -
Hi, I'm considering the Thrustmaster T.16000M stick as it has Z-axis for rudder, which would be great for the Ka-50. Does anyone have this stick? Any problems with the buttons? I keep reading that this seems to be the only downside to the product (people say they feel flimsy/not robust). I have the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, so expecting it to be quite different considering it is only £30, but if there are no issues, I'll order one! Best regards, Tango.
