Hi, My axis are linear as I have the Warthog HOTAS. If I understand correctly, the stick commands the tabs VIA the MRFCS and not directly? Best regards, Tango.

I found the stick to be very erratic??? Is this normal? It was very weird in pitch - I had a massive and sudden pitch down for no good reason. Overall, when it was stable it was quite nice to fly. The stick behavior however.... why was it wandering around on its own? Speed was stable at 280 kts. Best regards, Tango.

Awesome! Thanks! :book::doh::lol: Best regards, Tango.

Hi, Is it possible to get more than one AGM-65G on a hard point? Why is there no option for 2 or 3 on a rack? Best regards, Tango.

Seems there are still a few bugs here especially if a target is on a mountain. I consistently missed with 2 CBU-105 despite the fact it is supposed to be INS guided to correct for wind, etc.. That said, CCRP accounts for winds and aircraft parameters so should be more reliable than CCIP. Are you sure the SPI is what/where you think it is? Sorry I can't help with the comms issue. Best regards, Tango.

An outstanding job as usual guys! Best regards, Tango.

Another vote here for either a cold-war scenario or modern theater (Afghanistan, Iraq). Iran would be interesting too. Heck - just cover the ME from N37° E36° to N18° E72° and let us decide! :D Best regards, Tango.

Hi, I can usually kill a tank in approx. 100 rounds of HE (I find CM takes more effort), though the rounds MUST be on target. I trim the aircraft nose down (after much flying I now "see the light" WRT the pitch-down when arming the gun :D ), then go in for the run. Airspeed matters - faster is better, but don't bust VMO. My technique: * Align the aircraft * Stabilize the aircraft manually (the more stable the entry the better) * PAC 1 for approx. 0.5 sec (you can see it stabilizing the aircraft further) * FIRE THE GUN The pipper MUST be on-target - there is little point firing if it is not. I can get one or more targets per pass, and I can get it so I take out a unit faster than once every 30 sec. I've successfully engaged at 2 nm, though I'm usually within 1 nm by the time I actually fire the gun. I sometimes do multiple burst rounds on a target at longer range to check I'm on-target. Not the best method, but it works well against non-armored targets. Flying figure 8's work well, climbing on the way out and diving on the way in. You can actually maintain constant turns whilst engaging multiple targets quite easily. If you get too close to the target, extend. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, Is it possible for A-10C to join FC2 MP servers the same as DCS:BS 1.0.2 can? If not, are there any plans to enable this? Would be awesome! Best regards, Tango.

Hi, V3x worked great! Thanks! Best regards, Tango.

Great info! On a related note - posting video is largely useless due to white balance and the fact that many cameras can record the infra-red as well as visible spectrum, making most colors inaccurate unless previously calibrated for the prevailing lighting conditions. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, Is Sharkpit compatible with 1.0.2? The horizon is missing from the standby horizon, though it seemed to install OK. Best regards, Tango.

You also need rudder trim. I moved it to Z/X keys, as when engine out have asymmetric thrust for any reason, then you'll need it. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, I tried it as you set it, but it still doesn't fire at anything. :S I get the spike on the RWR (I got that with my attempt too), but other than that - nothing. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, Please see the attached. I'm just playing with the mission editor at the moment, but for some reason I just can't get the SA-10 to engage anything. Any ideas? The SAM site is NNE of the starting airport. Best regards, Tango. TankerTest.miz

can't finish any instant action mission

It means an application attempted to access protected memory of one kind or another, either within its own memory space, or more often, either an invalid address (e.g. 0x00000000) or that of another process, to which it does not have access. Best regards, Tango. -
I don't know about you, but after just 10 hours flying the Shark I flew MSFS far better than I ever did, and also found MSFS flight model to be severely lacking (MSFS felt dead to me after that). I don't think there is any question that flying DCS series (A-10 or Black Shark) improves your flying ability. I'm just waiting to get some rudder pedals so I can fly it again. Best regards, Tango.

DCS:BS can be very difficult if you've got a target set up reasonably well. I guess by your standard, the recent strike by Israel on Syria's suspected nuclear plant wasn't "realistic" because they didn't lose at least 10 aircraft to AAA. The plant is now a big crater. They just flew in there one night, bombed it to hell, and left again. I'm still expecting to wake up one morning to find Iran has suffered a similar fate. Israel already did a test run. One thing about these sims is they can be very realistic, and most of us wouldn't appreciate just how realistic until we did it or saw it being done for real. There can be a lot of strategy involved in figuring the best way to approach a given target, determining priority targets, and then executing the plan. That alone can take some effort. It is a real buzz when the mission is completed successfully and everyone is back home. Combine that with realistic comms between pilots, maybe someone acting as FAC, and it is as close to combat as you're going to get without actually going into combat. I wish DCS:BS and DCS:W had a campaign engine like that of Falcon 4.0 - the re-playability is incredible, all things considered. That is probably why I'm still flying it over 12 years later (originally released Dec. 1998! 8) ) That said, DCS:BS and DCS:W are ahead of Falcon slightly in terms of systems modeling. Given that Falcon did it 12 years ago though shows how far ahead Falcon was for its time. ...but given your comparison with ArmA, I think this post was a waste of time. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, I think in the sim you can pass out? I started suffering hypoxia in the sim but then I recognized it and descended as fast as I could so I never actually reached the point of finding out if I lost total control. Best regards, Tango.

You can go up to 14000 ft or so without oxygen and be fine. Above that altitude it is dangerous to fly, and not so good if you are sitting, either. The issue on the ground is "altitude sickness", and it can hit you quickly, whilst hypoxia can give you a false sense of well-being and total inability to function. Climbers that go up the likes of K2, if it is their first time at high altitude, may need to spend a few days at camps low down whilst they adjust, then they can climb to the next camp higher up the mountain. Commercial aircraft are limited to 10,000 ft without pressurization. Much over 18,000 ft and oxygen is almost a must, unless you are in peak physical fitness and have acclimatized to high altitudes. Those who are slightly overweight or *ahem* larger ... are much more susceptible to the effects of hypoxia than someone who is very slim (not underweight). They've discovered that in such situations, the body fat breaks down and compounds the problem of a lack of oxygen to the brain. Listen to this crew as their aircraft suffers a pressurization problem. They are FL250 and climbing at the start of the tape. Note the *DESCENT* to FL260, before the controller realizes he's got hypoxia and tells him to descend to FL110: http://www.alexisparkinn.com/photogallery/Videos/2010-1-2-HypoxiaAudioOnly.wmv Scary! Best regards, Tango.

Hi, Roll rate should increase with speed brake up to 40% then drop off again. I think they updated the flight model in Beta 4 to reflect this. @tweet: great explanation! Best regards, Tango.

Interactive Traffic Pattern Trainer 1.0beta
Tango replied to Geskes's topic in User Created Missions General
According to the Dash 1, a standard traffic pattern is 300 kts clean on the down wind to abeam the airport, at 3000 ft AGL. Abeam the airport, idle thrust and descend to 2000 ft and 200 kts. Passing the point where the airport is off to the rear left at 45 degrees, 60 degree turn to base. Extend 15 degrees of flap and gear. When the airport is between the wing tip and the canopy, perform another left turn slowing to final app and descending to 1000 ft. By the time you are rolled on the runway heading you should be at approach speed, at 1000 ft AGL and 3 nm from touchdown. All turns are using 60 degrees of roll. Best regards, Tango.
