  1. As far as I'm aware it is all part of the sim! Some of Blaze's magic might be in there too, though. ;) Blaze will have to answer that (if he wants ;) ). Best regards, Tango.
  2. I'm in favor of the option of 3rd party devs releasing a lower poly external model to allow their aircraft to appear in the sim, and so everyone can join all servers as they wish. If the sim is going to kick the user out because they only bought 4 out of 5 add-ons, that is crazy IMHO. One of the biggest strengths of the platform is in MP, from a user perspective. From day of release I was flying BS online, and the same for A-10. I only flew offline to test systems, and learn. Best regards, Tango.
  3. The option I really wanted was no, ED don't restrict what is available, but they should have an input on quality control, to ensure that when people buy an aircraft for the platform (DCS or not), that they can be sure of certain minimum, yet high standards. At risk of sounding elitist, the DCS name has meant very high fidelity products (yes, I know not all future products will carry this tag), but it should not be allowed to deteriorate. Developers will have to do better when creating aircraft for this platform. As they say, "if you can't stand the heat, stay out the kitchen". :) There are other platforms if people don't want super-high detail study sims. Best regards, Tango.
  4. Hi, Looks like I'm able to make it this year!! :D See you there!! Best regards, Tango.
  5. More progress! :) Instruments ADI: * Longitudinal acceleration affects pitch attitude * Slip/turn affect roll attitude. Roll lags the aircraft and precesses during turns. On roll-out roll will be slightly off-center, but self-correcting. * Gyros accumulate error during maneuvers, but largely self-correcting * Will topple if aircraft flown in a gyro-abusing manner Directional Gyro (Heading Indicator): * Gyro drift * Gyro accumulates error with maneuvering * Gyro can be made effectively useless if aircraft flown hard * NOT YET IMPLEMENTED: additional drift due to latitude Turn Coordinator: * Arguably a useless instrument * Correct behavior on the ground * Swings wildly in the breeze (broken models only) :D Best regards, Tango.
  6. Hi, I have a mission set up with the A-10 starting at Batumi airfield. The aircraft is set to start on the runway, but when the mission starts, it just falls through the runway, through the ground and into the infinitely deep sea. I already have A-10 installed, and the World version did not ask for activation. Anyone know how to fix this??? Best regards, Tango.
  7. Wait and see guys... we haven't finished yet. ;) Best regards, Tango.
  8. Awesome!! 8) Best regards, Tango.
  9. One question: why does the ground darken? ;) It should brighten slightly as you get higher (more light reflected at the viewer). http://taicarmen.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/earth-from-space-1.jpg Best regards, Tango.
  10. Lonewolf can be effective. If you don't expect singletons, they can sneak up on you. Useful tactic sometimes. Best regards, Tango.
  11. Embrace technical nomenclature. ;) On topic: Does the P-51 simulate roll torque? e.g. you're on approach at low power and slam the throttle wide open. The real thing will roll inverted with insufficient aileron authority to stop it. Best regards, Tango.
  12. Posting strictly as a customer, I think most in the DCS community consider FSX a cheap toy by comparison. I for one spent over $400 in total on DCS:A-10, not counting a new computer at an additional $1200. I never upgraded anything to run MSFS, and Falcon was always ahead of the curve on performance. I think the only reason Thurstmaster are selling the Warthog HOTAS is because of DCS. Before that it was the Cougar for Falcon. Much is riding on DCS quality/fidelity. The best on offer for MSFS is not good enough here. Best regards, Tango. THE COMMENTS IN THIS POST ARE STRICTLY MY OWN AS A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL AND CONSUMER OF DCS PRODUCTS. I DO NOT SPEAK FOR ANY OTHER PERSON, COMPANY OR ENTITY, REAL OR IMAGINED.
  13. It would seem LoSetCommand can't be called from LUA scripts. :( Best regards, Tango.
  14. Let me work my magic and see what I can do... ;) Best regards, Tango.
  15. Hi, How do we change the sounds/play custom sounds from LUA files? e.g. change engine sounds, and add custom sounds (e.g. warning horns, etc..)? Best regards, Tango.
  16. Probably....and a big dose of help from ED. :P Thanks to Alex got it working now. 8) Best regards, Tango.
  17. OK... how did you know to use "cycled"? Where can we get a list of these things? Best regards, Tango.
  18. @HungaroJET: What he said. ;) Best regards, Tango.
  19. DCS AFM needs a little tweak to make it equal BMS - currently you fly behind another jet in DCS and you don't get any wash/turbulence whatsoever. Best regards, Tango.
  20. Hi, Let me see if I can do a better job of explaining this today. :D The problem we have found is as follows. There are several aspects to this so I have numbered the points. 1) REGARDLESS of the model position (either by changing the position in the 3DMax file or using the gear contact points to move it), the tail will always hit the ground at ~12 degrees of pitch. 2) Changing the gear contact points will shift the model vertically, but it does not affect in any way the ground clearance of the tail. Both the model and any spark effects are moved the same amount, so the sparks will occur in the air (distance y on the drawing)! 3) Changing the model position in the 3DMax file does not affect the ground clearance of the tail. It has the interesting effect of moving the model further away from the sparks (so if the sparks are on the ground, they stay on the ground, whilst the rest of the visual model moves - distance x in the drawing). The problem is that none of these things affect the ground clearance of the tail! The tail still hits the ground at ~12 degrees of pitch regardless of what we try. :( What is the fix for this, if there is one? Is it related to the flight model somehow? We have tried everything we can think of. Best regards, Tango.
  21. There is a reason Max costs $$$$$$$$$$ whilst Blender is free. If Blender was really competitive, you can bet it would be payware. As is often pointed out - even the hardest communist is a capitalist at heart. ;) Just look at China. :D Best regards, Tango.
  22. Disregard - will re-post tomorrow when I can make things clearer.
  23. No, because of the stupid licensing. Best regards, Tango.
  24. If your opponent has better weapons than you in BVR, either avoid a fight or take it in close where you have the edge if you really must fight (remembering you are in the danger zone the entire time to the merge). It's OK having better weapons, but you mustn't let them replace good tactics. ;) Hit the tanker for a bit then engage. They'll run out of fuel eventually. :D Best regards, Tango.
  25. You buy a small drive, that's what you get. Welcome to 1995. Best regards, Tango.
