multi monitor picture request !
Murphyd replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Formski, I asked a similar question last week. I've not had a definitive answer but it looks like this cannot be configured just yet. Hopefully it has made it onto the issues list and will be addressed by a future patch. -- Murphy -
The Engine de-icing/dust protection switch is three-way. First time you throw it, you will enable engine dust protection system. The second time will enable engine de-icing. -- Murphy

Controls Display Window + multi monitor
Murphyd replied to Murphyd's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You're right Gael. I used a third party app to move the BS window last night and as predicted, the controls window was tucked away at the bottom left hand corner of the "virtual" window. -- Murphy -
Fess up! Who else here is having a hard time?
Murphyd replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
This is exactly when I find trimming invaluable. I won't even attempt to explain my preferred method here but I can certainly second the various comments in this and other threads that trimming is absolutely key to controlled flight in this sim. I've still not got it down 100% (getting the timing right between releasing the trim button and allowing the cyclic and pedals to centre still catches me out sometimes) but I'm getting there and when it starts working well it's like one of those "Eureka!" moments. Keep practising, it will pay off :) -- Murphy -
Controls Display Window + multi monitor

Hehe. Indeed you may be right :) I'd like to know if ED regarded the trade-offs as bugs or a feature that we'll be forced to live with. Doesn't feel like it would be too hard to change. -- Murphy -
Controls Display Window + multi monitor
Murphyd replied to Murphyd's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did consider that Mx but thought it better to not clutter a solution thread with problems. In addition, I was hoping that a separate thread might stand a better chance of eliciting a response from the devs or testers. -- Murphy -
Controls Display Window + multi monitor
Murphyd replied to Murphyd's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is nobody else suffering from this or similar problems? Other issues multi-screen seem to cause include the FPS readout not appearing and mission text messages being spread across both screens making them rather difficult to read. Knowing how configurable the rest of BS is, I'm optimistic that some lua file jiggery-pokery will solve these display issues, I just need some pointers to get me started :) -- Murphy -
Pun intended? ;) -- Murphy

When I configure BS to display SHKVAL and Abris on my second monitor, I can no longer bring up the Controls Display Window (RCTRL-ENTER). My guess is that it's being displayed somewhere on the "invisible" first display. Does anyone know how to fix this? -- Murphy

multi monitor picture request !
Murphyd replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Harry, Try running in Window mode. Not sure why but a lot of multi-monitor setup's cause BS to crash on start-up (and when taking screenshots) when configured for full screen. P.S. Your numbers don't make a lot of sense to me, especially those in your Options.lua file. For example, "resolution" set to "2000x4480" but then contradicting it with "width" set to 4480. Assuming you have a 1280x1024 monitor as your leftmost display and a 1920x1200 monitor as your "center" or "main" display, I'd imagine numbers more in line with: options.lua ... ["height"] = 1200; ["resolution"]= "3200x1200"; ["width"] = 3200; 2MonitorTest.lua Description = 'Test' Viewports = { Center = { x = 1280; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1200; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 16/10; } } Shkval = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1280; height = 1024; } -- Murphy -
Disclaimer - I have absolutely no idea if any of the following is correct. The application probably knows what its talking about when it complains about DCS.exe being modified. I imagine that this is part of its built in copy protection. If your computer is infected with a virus then it seems reasonable to assume that Black Shark is being infected during the install - this would explain the problem being repeatable. Your reference to a bad file, "TDSSc6de.exe" is unclear. Is this being reported as a virus infection by Symantec? If so, does your virus software give you an option to quarantine or remove the virus? It's impossible to say with any certainty but it does sound like a virus in which case, either update Symantec so that it can remove the infection or try a different virus scanner. If all else fails you might need to consider re-installing your operating system. -- Murphy

That's weird, I've got dual screen working perfectly. Vista x64 Ultimate Installed to "Program Files (x86)" as a normal user. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. I wonder if there were issues with the Russian release that were fixed for the International version? -- Murphy
-
Same problem for me. Vista x64 Ultimate (Fully up to date) ATI Radeon 4870 (8.12 Drivers)

Success! Turns out it was something to do with the installation. I reckon I must have installed straight over the Russian version but just chose a different directory. Having cleaned out and reinstalled everything, my second screen has sprung into life. I now have what seems to be a working camera view on my main monitor and the ABRIS/Shkval showing on the second  Thanks for the offers of help and for documenting your findings in the other thread. -- Murphy

Hi Mx, I've just done a complete uninstall/reinstall to eliminate the possibility of Russian vs. International conflicts and am in the process of reconstructing my 2MonitorTest.lua and options.lua files. I will post an update in about 15 minutes :) -- Murphy

Hi Koriel, Thanks for the reply. I have however already been through the thread* you mention (all 19 pages) and the thread** over at SimHQ. *http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32630 **http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2621999/3.html To date, I have tried numerous iterations of the 2MonitorTest.lua script and Options.lua. At no point have I seen anything displayed on the second screen (other than the windows backdrop and whatever happened to be there when I started the game). When I edited 2MonitorTest to overlay the ABRIS and Shkval on my main screen, they appeared there fine but of course completely obscured the cockpit. I was interested to note that changes in-game to my display options were not being saved to my Options.lua file i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua After a lot of digging around, I finally found the real options.lua file here: C:\Users\Murphy\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua I did have the Russian version installed previously which I uninstalled before installing the International version. I wonder if this might have any bearing on things? -- Murphy

Page 353 "Inbound You ask the tower for information about landing at the airfield. The tower replies with heading (in degrees), distance, QFE (air pressure at airfield elevation) and recommends the pilot to assume the pattern altitude. This altitude is usually specific for each airfield; however it can be assumed to be 300 m by default. FARPs will illuminate the their landing pad at night after this message is sent."

Hi Mx, Yes, I have both displays configured and working fine in Vista. Monitor 1 is set as my primary. Screenshots included. I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow :) -- Murphy

Vista and Multi-core/Multi-CPUs, Continued

Apologies if this has been answered definitively elsewhere but having read 20+ pages of previous posts relating to multiple displays and doing countless experiments myself, I still don't know if this particular combination is possible. My exact set up is: Vista Ultimate 64 bit ATI Radeon 4870 (latest 8.12 drivers) 1 x Samsung 226BW (1680x1050) Panel (Primary Camera) 1 x Viewsonic VX922 (1280x1024) Panel (ABRIS/Shkval) Black Shark - International (English) I have read about and tried carefully to duplicate suggested settings based around the 2MonitorTest.lua script (combined with the appropriate changes to Options.lua) and so far have failed to get anything to display on my second panel. My main question is whether or not this particular combination of hardware/OS can be made to work and if so, can anyone give me some tips? Thanks in advance -- Murphy

I installed on Vista x64 Ultimate earlier this evening. I too ran Setup.exe as administrator as it threw an error which I guessed was related to insufficient permissions to install in Program Files (x86). Everything seems to be working fine so far. -- Murphy

Ok, down to one activation already.., but VPN via hamachi works

Groove, These are your paying customers. Enthusiasts who have gone to extraordinary lengths to purchase legitimate copies of your game. A defensive (and frankly somewhat offensive) attitude like that is just opening the door and inviting negative responses. I mean this with the best will in the world because I really do wish you guys every success with this product - take a step back and take a few deep breaths - most of the people here are your friends and will give you their money. Try not to misinterpret their enthusiasm for aggression and take negativity with a pinch of salt before slapping them. -- Murphy -

Murphyd replied to Koriel's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It's just another example of legitimate and honest users being punished because of pirate activity. It's clear that ED made the assumption that all non-Russian speaking users had downloaded Black Shark illegally and would therefore be deprived of any support. This is itself seems like sound reasoning but it has become crystal clear that there are now plenty of legitimate non-Russian speaking customers and yet the status quo remains. -- Murphy -
Just a thought. Keen as I am to get my hands on BS, I don't think I can justify buying the Russian version now and buying the English version when it's made available. My question therefore is whether there is any possibility that the Russian version could be patched to a different language later on?
