Came here feeling like I’m useless at this, pleasantly surprised to see I’m not the only one struggling. Granted a little concerned that the mission has already been downgraded and I’m still getting shot down on the 3rd pass everytime. On bright side, I’m getting really good at startup, using Jdams in both pp and too mode, and adding new waypoints from a new tasking. Really don’t want to skip the bonus mission as I feel Steep wouldn’t abandon a fellow flyer, but damn I need to find a way to escape that darn Sam, makes me concerned for later missions, if I can’t avoid a handheld Sam, I have zero chance if there’s any bigger ones later on. ( too be fair I’ve NEVER avoided a Sam yet in all the years I’ve been playing. So I am aware it’s a skill I’m severely lacking ) Loving the campaign, it’s teaching me a LOT about the F18, and I’m not complaining, more like I’m venting after 5 attempts one after the other today. Now shut down the pc and walked away. I’ve got the Sam on my Lightning, have a Jdam all setup and ready to go, got people advancing on the pilot. Why on Earth would anyone drop down for a show of force when there is clearly a bloke with a Sam stood on the roof, and a high suspicion these guys are the enemy.

Winwing MCDU -can it be used in DCS - for other aircraft
Cowboy10uk replied to hreich's topic in Winwing
I had no doubt about that. Anyone who goes to the trouble of not only purchasing winwing mcdus and PFPs must have a love of heavy metal and logistics. The Herc is right down our street. -

Fabulous work as ever. Will get it downloaded and tested on my machine tomorrow. Now the big question is how much do I need to bribe you, to look at getting this on the C130 when she finally lands. -
Wow, Dover, Calais and Now the Channel Islands. All areas deep within the reduced detail areas of the Normandy 2 map. So is this your way of letting us know that you’ve now expanded the high detail areas significantly. Is the entire map High detail now? either way I’m very very impressed with what I’m seeing. original areas are shown below and everything that has been shown above is clearly in the reduced detail areas.

Ohhh , yep I do have all the keys bound on my pfp7. I’ll unbind and see if that works. thanks. Even better, I’ll just download the latest version. That was pretty quick work. thanks. -

Mmmmm not sure what I’ve done wrong here. I can get output on my pfp7, I can interact with DCS a treat. The issue I’m having is the mcdudcsbiosbridge keeps shutting down with zero error messages. if I restart it, things start working again, but then it closes down again. any ideas? -
Hi all, one of the main thing about flying transport aircraft such as the Herc, is flight planning and utilising high and low ifr routes. I was just wondering how will DCS manage this. In MSFS or Xplane which is the closest sim we have to simulate freight transport at the moment tend to use Navigraph subscriptions which allow us to utilise the correct routes and all the real airport charts for approach, taxing etc. Do we know if the Herc will be utilising something similar so we can use a flight planner such as simbrief for our Herc flight, or are ED utilising their own system, and if so how do we get the waypoint names to be able to program these into the FMC, or takeoff and approach routes? I really hope this has been thought about and not just left for us to do what we want as it is currently. granted the landing video put out last month did so approach charts so that does make me hopeful that this has been discussed.

Wow you managed to get the pfp7 working as well. You sir are my hero. can’t wait for you to post the instructions, so I can also get this working. Obviously I did get it for the PMDG 777, but deep down I always hoped I could also use it for the Chinook, C130 and A10. fantastic work sir. -
As this is the first Quad engine DCS module, a thought has occurred to me that a large number of simmers in DCS will only have the standard duel engine throttle. Orion, Warthog, Thrustmaster etc. Granted there may be some who also fly civilian simultors who will have more throttle axis like the Honeycomb Bravo so they will be fine, BUT I hope the devs haven’t forgotten that this may present a issue and provide axis binding options that will allow 2 engines to be controlled by a single throttle axis. While I am aware this isn’t at all realistic, it would be a simple solution when bringing a Quad engined aircraft into a what has been effectively a Duel engine simulator. luckily I do have the Honeycomb, BUT I know at least 2 others in my Sqn only have Duel throttles and I’m sure they aren’t the only ones here in that situation.

You say they clearly had it for a while, but that may not necessarily be the case. The FMS is just a FMS, anyone with anytime flying airliners in Xplane or MSFS will be comfy with inputting data into that. Finally the skills some of us have been honing for years in civilian flightsims are finally transferrable to DCS. ( hopefully we can keybind out Winwing FMS buttons to the Hercs FMS. Will make things so much quicker I am hoping they are doing quite a few videos mind you, this landing was great, and while it may not show things blowing up, it was still a very enjoyable video and got me excited to fly the Herc. I may not be great at A2A but logistics flying it’s right up my alley.

Advice needed and what Haptic seat to get?
Cowboy10uk replied to Cowboy10uk's topic in Input Devices
Huge thanks to everyone that answered and gave me advice. It did make my mind up to take a gamble on the HF8 Pro which turned up a few days ago. I have to admit to being rather surprised at how different and how much better it is than the original HF8 that I couldn’t get on with at all and returned after a week. This one works well with Simshaker, doing carrier ops and flying Helos is magnificent again, and it’s taken me back to those first feelings when I got the jetseat all those years ago. Thankyou once again for the advice. cowboy10uk -
Cowboy10uk started following Can’t get sim app pro to start up
-
Hi all, I had my sim equipment disconnected for about 2 weeks, now when I’ve reconnected everything I cannot get sim app pro to start up whatsoever. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it just sits at a blank black screen. This obviously means I can’t use my ufc display. any ideas, cause I’m all out of ideas. ive checked defender and firewall to make sure its still got a exception which it has. I’ve even tried deleting scripts.lua but to no avail

Thanks for that @MAXsenna it’s much appreciated and @rapid for your quick review. I have managed to find a few vids on it showing it off for DCS and MSFS, so I think I might take a gamble on the Pro. I do miss having the haptic feedback I used to get from the Jetseat so I do need to get that back somehow. -

Sorry I meant being used with DCS. Quite a few reviews with racing sims I will admit. However as it’s Specifically DCS I’ll be using it with, then it’s how it runs with that, which is important. Hence asking the experts here, who will have the experience with DCS and the haptic seats. -
Winwing products are great for our community, very good off the peg cheap solutions BUT yes their customer service is none existent sadly. I’ve only had to use CS a couple of times in the many years I’ve been using Winwing and it’s been a battle every time. Resulting in having to go through my bank to get my money back after they sent me my order Twice and charged me TWICE. Returned via customer service but they never refunded my money. I also had the issue with my Orion twisting, and yes it’s a very very annoying issue. I ended up purchasing some better quality grub screws which solved the issue, dirt cheap on Amazon if you don’t already have any. Can’t say I’ve had the issue with the throttle.mine has been great for years. Fingers crossed it gets solved soon.
