  1. Never mind, I found it. All I had to do is ask for help and they would jump out at me. If anybody find this interesting they are the Lian Li 216.
  2. I am looking for a case that I have only seen a review of one time. I can't remember who did the review or who the maker of the case was, but I'm hoping one of you will know. The case has two options that I want. One is that the IO opening in the back is longer than normal by one PCI slot and a second set of standoff mount holes to match it. This allows you to mount the MB one slot down in order to have more distance at the top to mount a thicker AIO. The second option is a wider case to allow the use of Corsair's RMx Shift series of PSU that have the cables plug into the side of the PSU so that the cables won't have to run over the top of a bottom mount fan. All cables can them run up the backside of the MB tray, out of site.
  3. How much is the 5K gonna be and how long are you going to have to wait?
  4. I thought that it would be GPU first. I just find it amazing that the 4090 could be beat up so badly with all the hype of how powerful it is. A friend let me borrow his 4090 for a week and I thought I was doing something wrong when the thing was stuck at 99% usage and my little old i5 was just jogging along without a care in the world . It's going to be hard to part with $1850 for a 4090 knowing that it's still not enough GPU to satisfy DCS.
  5. I monitor GPU and CPU usage, and during a normal session the GPU is always at 99% usage while the 12 cores of the i5-11600 averages about 45%. This is the normal situation for both ST and MT versions of DCS. My problem understanding is that everything I have read, watched and my on instinct tells me that I should be CPU bottlenecked. And if I am CPU bottlenecked, my GPU should be far less utilized while waiting for the CPU to feed it. Looking at this without really thinking about it I would assume that I should upgrade my GPU first, but I am sure that a 4090's need for data would suck my little i5 dry like a $1000 a night Vegas hooker. Am I looking at the wrong metric for the CPU? The GPU? Is HWiNFO64 the wrong monitoring software for what I am trying to find out? Somebody please put me on the correct path to enlightenment.
  6. I wish I could get my hands on a 7900XTX but I doubt it would be anywhere close to the 4090. It might catch up as AMD puts out FSR 3 and other driver updates. If I knew it would get closer to the 4090 it might be worth it at the lower price. Right now the only thing you can do to get the performance is to hock your first born and pay the price nVidia wants.
  7. I just finished testing with my friends 4090 and there is no way that you could have proved to me that spending $1600 would be worth it. There is no substitute for setting down at a computer and seeing with your own eyes what a difference there is. The difference between my 6900XT and the 4090 is remarkable. My biggest test are how far out can I find and airport and at what distance can I see the carrier deck clearly in order to line up at only half a mile out. Having the 4090 in my system it also shoed me that I am not CPU bound when running in MT. The 4090 was zipping along at 99% while the CPU was averaging about 30%. That answered my question of am I going to need to upgrade my MB and CPU.
  8. I think you have misconstrued my intent. I'm looking for people who actually live in the Las Vegas area. You can't really make a proper comparison of VR over the internet.
  9. I had the same problem and "movement prediction" was the problem. Thanks for pin pointing that. I have another problem that may or may not be linked. When I start DCS in MT-Native OpenXR I get a "mask" in my headset. It's square and covers the bottom and right side of the display. The bottom covers most of the instrument panel when looking straight forward and bout the same amount of the right side of the cockpit. If this mask turns out to be symmetrical then it's center point is about 20 degrees left and 20 degrees up. If you haven't seen this before I'll post a new thread with it and see how many others are seeing it also.
  10. Figured it out. It's the new and improved version 2 of the cable that HP said we should use. I put the old original cable in play and haven't had a 13-14 error yet. Case closed.
  11. Been watching the Aero for a while but found it hard to spend 2K. The math doesnt add up here on this sale though. Currently when I click on buy now it shows $1990. I know I'm not that good at math but 1990 is not %15 off of $2K.
  12. I take exception to "sweaty"! Nerdy, obsessed, and introverted maybe, but not sweaty.
  13. You guys can bet that I have tried all that since my AMD card failed to start at 90HZ on almost every first of the morning start. After doing some or all of the things you suggest I would eventually get it to start at 90HZ. My problem with the 4090 is that when I switch to 90HZ the headset goes dark. It's still being recognized because I have all the sounds of the game ported to the headset, just none of the display. This problem has happened on 2 systems now and I would like to hear from others that use WMRP and the 4090 with a G2. The 4090 and G2 are the only common items between the to systems. If enough people tell me that they can get their G2 running at 90HZ with a 4090 I'm going to have to look hard at the G2 as the root of the problem.
  14. Thanks but I'm looking to start a group here where we can physically meet and try each others computers to see how different pieces of hardware work together. Maybe even swap some parts to see what works best. Right now a friend let me borrow his 4090 to see how it would work in my system and if it's worth 2K for me to upgrade to it. We have different CPU's and MB's so he gets to see how his 4090 works with what I have and he can make an upgrade decision by actually playing on my system.
  15. The problem seems to be between WMRP and my G2. When I set MWRP to 60HZ everything seems to be working fine so far, but I haven't tested everything at this setting yet. My goal right now is to get a basic display at 90HZ. If I set WMRP to 90HZ the mirror on my monitor looks like it is running at 90HZ but it seems to be stuck on the screen that tells me to put on my headset. My G2 is a black screen though. When I move my headset around the desk, the display in the mirror moves around according the the way I am moving the headset. I have tried all 3 display ports on the 4090. I have also un-installed and reinstalled WMRP. I've move the USB between ports, but I don't believe that really has anything to do with this problem. I can't think of anything else to drive to get the G2 display at 90HZ. Anybody else have anything that I can try?
  16. WOW! 233 views and no replies. Am I the only DCS flyer in Vegas that is using VR?
  17. I would like to get a loose group of VR users together in Las Vegas in order to compare our systems and headsets. I bought my Reverb a couple of years ago and have NEVER been able to determine if it is working to the highest potential. I just don't have a second headset of any kind to compare it to and right now I don't know of anybody in my area that is using VR in DCS. It would be nice to have another Reverb to compare to mine to see if operating correctly. How about being able to see if a 4090 is really worth the price when compared to a 7900. How about being able to check out and Aero or Pimax before dropping 2k on something that just wouldn't be worth it until you upgraded your computer. I look forward to hearing from other VR users in the Las Vegas area weather they fly DCS or not as any ability to compare can only help the situation.
  18. This was just a little exorcise in thinking out loud. In reality VR is still in it's infancy and there are just to many ways of doing it right now. Anybody old enough to remember the VHS-Beta wars? Once Porn decided to use VHS, it became the defacto platform and took off quickly. I'm just hoping the industry will settle on one VR standard so that hardware manufacturers and game developers can perfect their products to that standard and move us away from the quagmire of multiple processes we are currently in.
  19. Just wondering where we are going with this. I ALWAYS have a CPU Bound with either main thread or rendering thread. I have an 11600KF with 6 cores operating running at 5.2GHz (if I hyperthread I can only do 4.9GHz stable). I also have to 6900XT that I see at 2.4 and 99% usage as a norm. What will it take to get rid of these messages? A 10GHz CPU? I've tried reducing all setting to an unplayable level just to see If I could get rid of the messages but that doesn't work, I still get them both. I've found that I have better results just using the generic OpenXR. Using the native OpenXR (both MT and non-MT) my FPS is in the 30's but with the generic version I'm in the 40's. I guess I'll wait for the next update and see if ED smooths out the VR any. They've made some great strides but there is a long road to go.
  20. Yeah, I guess I'm going deeper down that hole. I think I've decided on a 7800X3D and a 7900XTX. The 4090 is just to much money for what it gives.
  21. Well...over 100 views and not one opinion. That's the way I feel too. I guess we just keep throwing hardware at the problem until the programmers come up with a way to streamline code.
  22. Is there a setting or combination of setting in DCS that would produce a clear sharp display? I don't care if the FPS is 1 or in anyway flyable. I would just like to look over the canopy rail once and see solid concrete instead of what looks like oatmeal that has been raked by a Japanese gardener. I have a 11600KF running 6 cores at 5.2GHz and the 6900XT regularly bounces up to 2.4GHZ. 32G of RAM and a G2 headset. I'm always stuck at 45FPS even though I turn all the setting to low or off.
  23. Well, I'm strictly VR. I keep crashing when I try to fly from the monitor. Next question. Is there anything that we can do to relieve the main thread? Something that can be turned off maybe. I'm assuming that the answer to my first and main question is a faster CPU. At least until ED tweaks the main thread to be as small as possible if that is even an option.
  24. I'm looking to build a gaming PC for DCS and the new multithreading makes me ask a whole new set of questions about what hardware to get. On my current system DCS gives me a "cpu bound: main thread" so... What kind of CPU am I looking for? I'm assuming the one with the highest raw speed. Should I be looking at PCI bus speeds, memory speed/bandwidth, hard drive I/O. Any comments you want to add would help.
